Heads up for recent resale buyers

We have quite a few resale contracts. In the past I've only called to expedite the point loading if we needed to book something right away - maybe three times. I was always been able to make it happen with one phone call, even though sometimes I had to explain why we needed them sooner rather than later if they resisted at first. My experience this past week was different.

Day one - tried using chat. The CM was immediately happy to help, but said she'd have to check and see if they were "available to be downloaded". It took her 5-10 minutes to get the answer, so I'm sure she was actually trying to make it happen. However, she said they weren't ready and to check back in 2-3 days.

Day two - tried chat again. This CM immediately started the "it takes 2-3 weeks for points to load" spiel. I pushed back politely that we had expiring points that needed to be used. She relented and said she'd check if they were ready to download. She took only maybe a minute and then said they weren't ready. Did she actually check? Who knows  ?

Day three - decided it would be best to actually call. This CM was happy to help and put me hold to check on the points. While I was on hold the points started populating in my contract. Everything was loaded within a few minutes.

Does calling now work better than chatting? Was it just a coincidence that they were finally ready the day I called? No clue, but regardless there does seem to be at least a slight delay in the contracts appearing and the ability to get points loaded by being the squeaky wheel.
As a squeaky wheel myself 🤣 I find that it is almost always better to call than to chat. With chat, representatives can easily transfer you, copy/paste a canned response, or dismiss you because it's just easier. On the phone, being extra nice, chatting about how THEYRE doing, how excited you are, hell even Disney, because as a former CM myself, I was just as obsessed as they were 🤣🤣 will get someone to actually want to help you. I know when people were demanding or rude to me well let's just say I didn't feel bad that it was 12 am and the Peter Pan line was closed before they ran thru.

Great, that's who I'm buying from, I also read about people having that same day, well I guess now I know what to expect once this ROFR decision hits
this is our timeline so far I was thinking about calling one more time to try again so maybe I can get lucky …

Thank you for sharing this! I am on day 20 of waiting for ROFR and the wait is killing me 🤣🤣 if my timeline is anything like yours then I am almost there!

My timeline has been 1/25 offer sent and accepted, 1/26 ROFR sent so far. I wonder if it's www.dvcresalemarket.com or the title company that is responsible for the holdup? I am using Magic as well, but next time I'm going with Mason as this one seems to be the one the disboard experts like 👍 the four days to receive closing docs seems unnecessary and why 5 days later for closing, did you ask? I'm irritated and it's not even my contract 🤣🤣

Oh Amy Krieger from Monera is great too! Both of their responses are lightning fast and she helped me understand everything with financing even pointing me to some loan amortization calculators to reach my payoff goals and contacting me on a Sunday to approve me, I was blown away!

I don’t know! Just sit back; a lot of the time consuming stuff is on the Disney side. Expect the whole process to take 90 days. If it doesn’t, you are lucky!🍀

The 5 days I am unsure I actually reached out to check in and got my docs that night 😂 as far as ROFR that I believe is ALLLL Disney. They take their sweet time. I even reached out on my closing date and asked if the sellers sent closing docs and then got the congratulations you closed email 🤣 so I will say the title company was a little slower then I liked. Hopefully it goes quickly for you!

I have no problem giving them a push in the right direction 🤣

It's also the case that Disney is not in the business of making it easy not to buy points from them. I don't think that's anything nefarious---no one sat in a boardroom with an Evil Villian laugh planning all this out---but it's likely that no one would try to make the business case for improving the process.
I don’t know. I bet resale purchasers are a big demographic that buys direct for the first time.

I guess I do t get why it does t just happen when they create the account. When you buy direct it happens immediately. Why does there have to be a gap of weeks from creating an account to loading points?

Maybe does lead to more direct purchases, but part of that motivation may be from how long and painful the wait is for resale. lol

Ok my last one closed on the 10th. I usually wait about 10 days and give them a call. I am not in a hurry this time as there are no points coming until 26, so I will just let it sit and see how long it takes.

I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like Member Admin may no longer be willing to upload points quickly after a recently purchased resale contract appears on your membership. Over the last week, there are multiple reports of members contacting Member Services to ask for early points upload and MA isn't accommodating those requests (per the Closing Time thread). I contacted MS via chat 3 times personally and still haven't gotten my points uploaded from a contract that appeared on my membership a week ago. This appears to be impacting folks with contracts that appeared on or after 2/7/25. Kind of a bummer if that's how MA is going to handle things now.
I received a similar discussion when my contract showed in my account at the end of January. Member services said I had to wait. It took about three business days, so not bad but not like prior when if you asked they loaded the points.

In other words they stopped giving in to people trying to jump the line is my take and its first in/first out like it should be.
I wouldn't agree with this. If my contract closed and now showed in my account, plus I had already paid in full would I be “jumping the line”?

I believe once the contract shows in member services and I paid all fees, my points should as well.
