Edited on 2/26: Looks like this advisory is no longer applicable - Member Admin appears to be granting early upload requests again.

I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like Member Admin may no longer be willing to upload points quickly after a recently purchased resale contract appears on your membership. Over the last week, there are multiple reports of members contacting Member Services to ask for early points upload and MA isn't accommodating those requests (per the Closing Time thread). I contacted MS via chat 3 times personally and still haven't gotten my points uploaded from a contract that appeared on my membership a week ago. This appears to be impacting folks with contracts that appeared on or after 2/7/25. Kind of a bummer if that's how MA is going to handle things now.

I thought it was a week minimum anyway?

I didn’t realize this was new, I thought it always depended on who you spoke with. We tried maybe 6 months to a year ago on our last purchase and spoke with two people with no luck.

I guess I don’t see why this is such a bad thing. Why should the squeaky wheel get points loaded before someone who closed earlier?
In the end, it is more fair, agreed. However, after reading thru the Closing Time thread, one could draw the conclusion that it's common to be able to get your points uploaded faster if you ask, and get your hopes up to be able to snag a certain room category for an upcoming visit...and then you can't. So I guess I'm trying to help (re)set expectations, if any existed?

It's like most things in life. You get a representative that doesn't help, politely hang up and call again. Eventually you'll get someone that hits 🤣🤣

We bought resale last May. Never called and I feel our points were loaded within a couple of days.

That's my experience too, although in a couple of cases with greater time sensitivity calling and requesting may have saved me that.

In the end, it's a process that takes 60-90 days and there are many other stages (slow rofr, slow seller, slow title company, slow broker) that can be much bogger bottlenecks.

We closed on February 5 and are not expecting our points to load honestly until the 19th? .We actually received a email from our broker telling us to contact him if we don't load in 3 weeks. No hurries...no worries.

You wonder if they were getting complaints from new buyers that some were getting to jump the line and others being told to wait?

It has always been luck of the draw....
I guess I do t get why it does t just happen when they create the account. When you buy direct it happens immediately. Why does there have to be a gap of weeks from creating an account to loading points?

I think there is a manual accounting of the points that occurs. I bought a contract that was advertised as having 0/50/50 points. That was incorrect when it showed up: there were 50/50/50 points and this year’s points were in holding, and I could see in the transactions what appeared to be a manual adjustment to them to make them holding points had taken place.

New contracts don’t need any adjustments like this.

It's also the case that Disney is not in the business of making it easy not to buy points from them. I don't think that's anything nefarious---no one sat in a boardroom with an Evil Villian laugh planning all this out---but it's likely that no one would try to make the business case for improving the process.

Because they devote different CMs to the tasks. And direct contracts will get priority.

Also, direct contract memberships are easy to create and upload because there is no process of canceling an old verifying points, and creating a new one.

We have quite a few resale contracts. In the past I've only called to expedite the point loading if we needed to book something right away - maybe three times. I was always been able to make it happen with one phone call, even though sometimes I had to explain why we needed them sooner rather than later if they resisted at first. My experience this past week was different.

Day one - tried using chat. The CM was immediately happy to help, but said she'd have to check and see if they were "available to be downloaded". It took her 5-10 minutes to get the answer, so I'm sure she was actually trying to make it happen. However, she said they weren't ready and to check back in 2-3 days.

Day two - tried chat again. This CM immediately started the "it takes 2-3 weeks for points to load" spiel. I pushed back politely that we had expiring points that needed to be used. She relented and said she'd check if they were ready to download. She took only maybe a minute and then said they weren't ready. Did she actually check? Who knows  ?

Day three - decided it would be best to actually call. This CM was happy to help and put me hold to check on the points. While I was on hold the points started populating in my contract. Everything was loaded within a few minutes.

Does calling now work better than chatting? Was it just a coincidence that they were finally ready the day I called? No clue, but regardless there does seem to be at least a slight delay in the contracts appearing and the ability to get points loaded by being the squeaky wheel.

I was told that I couldn’t even have my member id or activation code early. I have to wait the 4-6 weeks, but keep hearing others say they got theres same day their deed was recorded (resale) others also say they are in the same boat. It’s frustrating the lack of consistency but it is what it is I guess.

Which resale company did you use?
