HEADS UP....Dream/Magic Itinerary Change Fall of 2014

So are the putting the Aqua Duck on the Magic to get more travelers on the smaller ships. We are booked for Dream. But if the Magic will now have the Duck and teen club. ?? I heard CC is much more pleasant with the smaller ships in port ? Thoughts

Magic is getting Aqua Dunk (48" +), Aqua Lab (for young kids) and Twist N' Spout (up to 60"). Two different slides and the water play area.

Regarding clubs, all 4 ships have the same clubs - Club/Lab, Edge and Vibe. On the older ships, Edge is in deck 1 (or 2) and Vibe is on one of the chimney stacks. On the newer, Edge is on one of the chimney stacks, and Vibe is up front and has it's own deck.

Magic is getting a remodeled Club/Lab as well among other things...

A smaller ship on CC does mean less people, but if you are going on off season, it doesn't matter - plenty of space for everyone...

Dream's dry dock should be a quick one as it's more of a required inspection. They'll probably replace carpets and give it a fresh coat of paint. But not major changes I guess.

I think everything is in the air at this time... The Wonder was supposed to have gone thru it's dry dock by Dec '14 and DCL even had flyers announcing 7n western out of PC.

But now it won't happen it seems. DCL simply moved the newer ship to PC. Of course, since they have not announced the Wonder dry dock, it could be due to renewed interest in the Magic.

Also, earlier rumors of 'two new ships' were more than likely references to the renovated Magic and Wonder. But only the Magic was announced with the changes.

Mid December is the start of high season and hence no way they would make any dry docks during that time.

Thank you. I have been trying to follow this thread but I got confused along the way. :headache:

I really didn't want to sail out of Miami but was going to just so we could experience the refurbished Magic but if the Wonder is going to take over the Magic's itinerary out of Miami then I know I don't want to make the drive but we can't take off for a whole week so the Caribbean itineraries out of PC are impossible. So do you think either the Dream or the Magic will be doing the Bahamas run in mid December? I know it's only speculation until next week but I'm just curious. :scratchin

Thanks. I guess my 15 y/o is really looking forward to the music pods lol. I don't want to regret doing the smaller ship. DH were on Wonder in February this year. :0) loved it. But I hear on the bigger ship the adult pool is not separated as well

The intermittent dry docks (i.e. non-huge overhauls) have to be 2 weeks long every 3 years, so the Dream should only be out for 2 weeks, especially if she's getting refurbed in the Bahamas.

Look like the Wonder won't go until early 2015 (I'm guessing Jan-Feb (low season in the winter)) - maybe Truck1 can speak to them getting an extension since she's due by Dec 2014?

3 and 4 night Bahamas cruises on the Dream for December 2014 have been booking for some time now, and I'd guess those itineraries won't be changing as those are the standard offerings for that ship, and December is a busy time.

When is the Dream's drydock? We had originally planned to book the Magic out of Miami on December 17, 2014 but with it moving to PC we thought we would book the Dream instead.

Scott's looking into that now, but I think it's safe to say she'll be back by then. That's very close to the holidays and those cruises book well.

First - I'm so sorry this has impacted those that had their hearts set on a certain ship, date, port, etc. I hope it works out for all of you and it's resolved soon for you! :goodvibes

I have read through some of the posts, but honestly it's sort of confusing! :rotfl2: If it's not too much trouble, can someone confirm - it appears the Magic will be moved to Port Canaveral, from Miami, for the Christmas and New Years 2014 sailings. Is that correct?

We are headed to Alaska on the Wonder in 10 days and I'll either book another dummy (to dream about moving to Med 2015 if released) or possibly the Magic out of Port Canaveral in December during my DS's school break.

I believe I also read these itineraries won't be released until around 6/18 - is that still correct?

Thanks in advance,
Heather

The changes confirmed so far are only for mid October to mid November. Nothing else has been confirm yet. But unless the Wonder pushes it's dry dock into 2015, then yes, the Magic will stay at PC doing 7n Eastern and the Wonder Bahamas and Western itineraries out of MIA. I think this is most likely what will end up happening.

I think the original plan was to announce both classic ships' dry docks and have the new Wonder sailing 7n. But with only one being announced, it makes better sense to have the newest refurb sailing out of PC.

For us this isn't such a big deal. We booked the Magic out of MIA just to see the new upgrades. I really don't care what port she sails from or which itinerary it is. Any time I'm on a Disney cruise & not at work, it's all good. :lovestruc :cloud9:
When the time comes I'll switch from the Wonder back to the Magic. I'm glad I took off on the 18th for my birthday. :cool1: I guess I'll be spending the day on hold. Darn, I'm so mad I didn't name my TA on these dummy dates and now that they changed the transfer rules, it's too late to transfer. :( I'm stuck dealing with DCL myself. sigh.... Oh well.

I got my revised itinerary email for my former Nov 13 now Oct 23 cruise. Everything is perfect except how it appears online. In my account it shows as the three night itinerary A, when it's the 4 night Dream itin F. Guess they'll get that right at some point. As I said, the email is correct.

And the scary "payment is due now" wording is gone. Cost is the same, room is same, etc.

Yes, I know they have been booking for some time now but with all the talk of the Dream having a short dry dock, I was just curious if the Dream or possibly the Magic, will be offering short cruises out of PC the month of December. I know the Dream normally offers 3 and 4 nights out of PC but with the dry dock I didn't know if these would still be offered.

I've noticed several people saying they think it makes sense to have the new Magic sailing out of PC. It doesn't make sense to me AT ALL. They were getting a ton of people (including myself) to want to sail from Miami, which everyone thinks isn't selling well, in order to try the new Magic. Now, it's going to be a super tough sell to get people to sail out of Miami, in November, on the 'old' Wonder. Wouldn't they be far better off to have a full Magic out of Miami and a decent Wonder out of PC than a full Magic out of PC and a relatively empty Wonder out of Miami? Why not put the good ship where you want to lure people to? :confused3

Because the Wonder CAN NOT compete with the Dream or Fantasy, but a revamped Magic can. There is no way If I'm a first timer, that I would choose the Wonder over the Dream, but I might choose the "New" Magic over the Dream. DCL sends the "lesser" ships to better places. The Dream and Fantasy do the same old thing week after week, while the Wonder goes to Alaska. That's how they get people to cruise on the classics. They send them to better places.

Agreed :thumbsup2 I'm not a first timer but I would like to sail on the classics but they are never in PC during the times we can sail and I am not going to drive to Miami or fly to Galveston to sail on an older ship. I was however, willing to drive to Miami to sail on the "new" Magic but now that the Wonder will be there, I will either sail the Dream or Magic out of PC.

So did anyone else get their revised itinerary email? Not the first, but the second one, showing exactly what you have? I am curious if I'm the only one so far.

Nothing yet, but when I login and look at my reservation, it shows the ship as the Wonder and not the Magic.

I couldn't agree more. So now the Wonder will be sailing to Nassau from Miami? Yawn.... :bored: Why not just put her in dry dock & stop the embarrassment & cost of sailing an empty ship?

Now to sail on an upgraded Magic? Sure I'd trek to Miami & put up with a day in Nassau. :lmao:

:crazy2: Makes no sense to me.

I haven't gotten a 2nd email but there probably isn't much for them to tell me. My 1st letter said my sail date & cabin choice wouldn't change, only the ship. Well, these days in DCL that's a big difference.
My account lists the cruise that I originally booked.

I feel the same. If I wanted to cruise on any old ship, I could sail out of PC on Royal Caribbean for 5 nights ( similar itinerary/less $$$):scared1::scared1::scared1:
