HEADS UP....Dream/Magic Itinerary Change Fall of 2014

That is really bad for us. The Dream double dip on November 11 lined up with our vacation perfectly. We were planning on doing seven days at Disneyworld and the four day cruise, now might not do anything Disney.

13th, you mean. I feel bad for you, after all you started the Meet thread. There's going to be a whole bunch of shifting around on the Meet board, isn't there?

Sorry meant 13th. Yes, our cruise does not even exist anymore. I was going to send an email to Irish Cowboy suggesting that the thread be deleted as many seem to be bailing.

He can't delete the thread and the mods would only lock it. Until the dates are worked out I would leave it open so everyone booked at the moment can sort things out and have a way to coordinate and post which cruise they will be moving to.

After a long discussion with my group and DCL agent on the phone, we decided to keep our reservation as the way it is (December 30, 2014). We felt that we can still have great times and memories, doesn't matter which ship. With the New Year's eve celebration on Wonder, I'm sure it'll be less crowded than Dream/Fantasy.

Matter of fact, it'll be good to see the Wonder again because Wonder was our first Disney cruise years ago. We went on the Magic last April and we couldn't dock at Key West due to high wind, so hopefully, on the Wonder next December, we can still go to Key West (fingers keep crossing!)

Wonder, here we come!:cool1:

We were booked on a B2B on the Dream Oct 23rd and 26th. This has now been revised to Oct 16th and 27th which isn't going to work!

Will have to see if we can switch from 3day sailing on 16th to the 4day sailing on 23rd so we can keep original dates (as flying from UK and these worked because of our school holidays) but would actually mean we'd get 8 days cruising ( 2 x 4 nt sailings) as opposed to 7 nts -which would work!

It's a long way and (expensive) to go just for a 4 night only cruise.

Do DCL usually offer compensation (OBC) when changes like this happen?

I do understand things happen, but I am disappointed that Disney would announce such changes and then make you wait a week to be able to speak with them to resolve any issues. Why not wait to announce until their ready to answer the queries. It's not the customer service I'd expect from Disney.

It is my personal, possibly naive, opinion that they are trying to work it ALL out, get everyone moved properly and perfectly (hope hope hope), before telling us exactly what they'll do "for" us. If they'll do anything for us other than put us properly and perfectly (hope hope hope) onto the cruises. They had to give us a "head's up", because otherwise they would be fielding a million calls about "why is my cruise showing up as Jan 2, 2015????", but I figure they just want to get everything settled before telling us the rest of the story.

Have you looked at possibly doing the NEW Dream cruises on the 23rd and then 27th? I might be biased since I was on the 13th which has now been switched to the 23rd, but that was a pretty nice itinerary in my opinion. (Nassau then a double dip!)

Obviously you would need to wait until the 11th to make that change, but it might be worth thinking about.

Yes, that's what I plan on doing if I can, change the new 16th date to the new 23rd date and then do B2B onthe 27th - will mean 3 stops at CC- but hey ho! :)

Will all depend on how much more money the new 4-night 23rd Oct costs compared to the cost of my old 3-Night 23rd Oct.

Hopefully there will be no price change to new 27th date as only change has been it been moved forward a day...

Well I received my confirmation email for the new revised cruise schedule. My orig cruise was Nov 13 and is now Oct 23. We have same room and same itinerary.

This is for the dream double dip

Is this on the Dream or Magic?

This cruise would work out perfectly for our food and wine trip to WDW next year.:scratchin

OK, seriously, what the heck? I got a confirmation email too ... For a four-night cruise on the Dream to the Bahamas (out of Port Canaveral) on Nov. 3. We were booked on a five-night cruise on the Magic to the Caribbean (out of Miami) On Oct. 31. I'm assuming our cruise was canceled instead of taken over by the Wonder, but I don't want to go to the Bahamas, and didn't really want to sail on the Dream. And that date doesn't work for us. Was there really no better way to handle this than by sending a confirmation email for a cruise we don't want to take? I guess I'll continue to wait until the 11th to call, but I think we're going to end up having to cancel, and possibly sailing with a different cruise line.

ETA: The more I think about it, the more I wonder if they still had us booked on the Nov. Dream cruise that I switched from when I switched online to the Magic. Maybe it didn't work somehow? In which case, I guess that's good to know now. And either way, it probably doesn't really matter, since we would have canceled either way. I'm so disappointed! We were really looking forward to a Halloween cruise on the new Magic.

Ok ya that's not good your getting cheated all the way around. Are they adjusting the price.

The big question is when is the Wonder doing her drydock and is she getting her makeover?

Someone posted a comment on Scott's blog that the Wonder's dry dock was originally Oct-Nov 2014, but will be postponed for the Dream's dry dock. I wonder if perhaps she'll go Jan-Feb 2015; the other low season. They also said both dry docks would take place in the Bahamas & the Wonder would not get the exact same upgrades as the Magic.

When is the Dream's drydock? We had originally planned to book the Magic out of Miami on December 17, 2014 but with it moving to PC we thought we would book the Dream instead.

Dream's dry dock should be a quick one as it's more of a required inspection. They'll probably replace carpets and give it a fresh coat of paint. But not major changes I guess.

I think everything is in the air at this time... The Wonder was supposed to have gone thru it's dry dock by Dec '14 and DCL even had flyers announcing 7n western out of PC.

But now it won't happen it seems. DCL simply moved the newer ship to PC. Of course, since they have not announced the Wonder dry dock, it could be due to renewed interest in the Magic.

Also, earlier rumors of 'two new ships' were more than likely references to the renovated Magic and Wonder. But only the Magic was announced with the changes.

Mid December is the start of high season and hence no way they would make any dry docks during that time.
