HEADS UP....Dream/Magic Itinerary Change Fall of 2014

My group booked the Magic for 2014 Dec 30th for New Year celebration and i just the letter that stated we are moving to a different ship, the Wonder. I was disappointed , as I was looking forward to the new Magic. My concern is if we change our date to sail on the Magic for New Year Eve, will the price increase or stay the same as I have right now? My understanding that any ships that are new or renovated usually raises the price. I hope The Wonder will get makeover too as we can go on it. :(

Our dates changed from 11/6 to 11/7 sail date so we decided to switch to the 4 night cruise on 11/3 instead of the 3 night cruise on 11/7. So we will be at WDW 11/1/11/3 then cruise on 11/3-11/7, then back to the world 11/7-11/9. Has anyone done WDW before and after cruise? Thoughts?

This is our tentative plan, but it will only work if (and it's a big IF) we can get a family concierge suite, like we are currently booked in. My TA said right now there isn't one available, but there might be on June 11th.

We will probably just scrap the cruise all together -- it's Jersey Week and it minimizes our girls time out of school, so it's a "must" that we take our family vacation that week. If the cruise can't fit in, FINE! We'll gladly spend our time around the parks & resorts...

I forgot to add....i dont think the Dream will go for dry dock. Its possible for them to set up a special cruise, like Hawaii or Austraila cruise. I would go in a breeze.

I didn't think Dream could fit thru the Canal? How could the Dream cruise Hawaii or Aus?

My TA is on hold with Disney right now trying to add passengers to my May Fantasy cruise for next year and the wait time is at least an hour. The lines are flooded with people calling over not only the date changes, but the ship changes as well. What a nightmare for all involved.

I am confused as well and very upset!! We wanted the Magic NOT the Wonder!! This is part of the email that I got from DCL......

We are currently in the process of making plans to relocate the Disney Magic from Miami to Port Canaveral, Florida, in October 2014. The Disney Wonder will sail from Miami on the previously scheduled 4- and 5-night sailings of the Disney Magic. Our records indicate you are currently booked aboard one of these sailings and we wanted to reach out to you and let you know about this change. While the ship will change, your sail date, stateroom assignment and sailing itinerary will not change.

Over the next week, we will be making this modification in our reservation system. Once the change is complete, a revised confirmation will be sent to your attention.

We were booked for a 5-night on the Magic out of Miami too, and yet I got the email about the Dream changing dates. So weird. I don't mind sailing out of Port Canaveral vs. Miami, but we want a 5-nighter and we don't want to do the Bahamas again. I wish they would have worked out what was going on before sending these emails telling us to wait until the 11th, or better yet, before we paid our deposit!

Beginning mid October the Wonder is scheduled to be sailing the Magic's schedule, so unless drydock occurs in early October, it is not happening in the fall.

I would not throw out the possibility that those sailings get cancelled for a dry dock. Not saying it will happen, but it's certainly in the realm of possibility.

Certainly they can always do an in water hull inspection with divers and push their major dry dock to 2015 as well......

I forgot to add....i dont think the Dream will go for dry dock.

Unfortunately, she's required to within 3 years; 2014 is her year.

Low time for sailings is Sept-mid November. Seems that's the best time to try to fit in the ships' dry docks.

That is strange! We were booked for a 5 night out of Miami leaving Nov 14, 2014. I would rather sail from PC (it is closer for us) but I don't want to go to the Bahamas and I want to be on the Magic. What makes it even more frustrating is that they say we have to wait to call them about it. I want answers now!

I'm also booked on a Dec 2014 cruise that was supposed to be on the Magic but is now on the Wonder. I also really wanted to be on the new and improved Magic, and am not happy about it being on the Wonder. :sad2:

My first thought was that the Miami cruises are not selling well (and given the discounts, I don't think they are) and DCL decided to move its new, upgraded Magic to PC where they think it will sell better, and let the old, in-need-of-drydock Wonder sail out of Miami. This is what they did to us in Galveston this year. Instead of the new, exciting, fresh-from-drydock Magic returning to Galveston in the fall, the Wonder is coming instead. The Galveston cruises have not sold as well as DCL would like, so we don't get the fancy "new" ship. I think they are doing the same thing with the Miami cruises. This is only my opinion. I have no inside knowledge, or even rumors.

Just my $0.02.

Just got the same email for our Nov 2014 cruise. It says everything will stay the same except for the ship. Instead of the Magic we will be on the Wonder. I REALLY wanted the Magic to see all the new things. Will the Wonder be going to dry dock before Nov 2014? Thanks :)

I just got the same email for our Oct 26 cruise. I *thought* the Wonder was supposed to be going in to dry dock in Oct though. :confused3

i thought I read recently that you could only change your cruise one time before having to pay a penalty. Did I read correctly? I ask because I just changed to one of the dream cruises affected by these changes. It is almost certain that we will not be able to be on the new sailing and will need to change. Will this be a problem?

That was a rumor out from a TA. You can still change cruises anytime without penalties, provided it's done before the pay in full date.

Guess there's a bunch of people ignoring what Disney requested of us, that we wait to a certain date to contact them about changes...

What makes it even more frustrating is that they say we have to wait to call them about it. I want answers now!

I think that they are trying to change things around so everyone ends up with the correct rooms, etc. If we start having them manually change things, or rather have someone who doesn't know what they are doing manually changing it, you're going to end up with a mess.

I'm as curious as the next person, but I'm sitting on my hands and waiting until the 11th to see what's up.

Yep, a weird, unsubstantiated rumor from a TA with a website that looks like a news website.

Good question...not familar with canal' s size. Anybody have ideas?

I believe the DCL Dream class ships are too large for current lock system, but recall hearing there is an additional set being built that will accommodate larger ships.

Looking at the DCL website, the Wonder's last scheduled October cruise sails on 10/6/14, and she was not previously scheduled for November or December trips. It's possible she'll do the major dry dock beginning mid-Oct and be ready to go for the holidays...

I certainly hope so! I have a large group booked with me and I really to hate move their ressie around. I hope we can still sail to Key West because last April, we were in the Magic and were supposed to stop there, but cancelled due to high wind. I just hope we can set foot there since most of us never touched Key West before.

The new locks should be opened in 2015 and then the Dream class ships will fit. When in 2015? Who knows.

We weren't talking about 2015 though, we are talking about 2014. It sounded as if the poster was wondering if a special Hawaiian cruise etc was being planned for next fall for the Dream when all these open changes are taking place?
