Heading to WDW today

I'm sure it is frustrating not to do it your way and to stick together as a group and not have plans. However, sounds like this is a present from grandma for everyone to do a mini vacation to disney together every year. It's not about doing "Disney" but rather just being together and creating memories and having family time. I would accept it as such, realize that these days with her are numbered (or anyones for that matter) and enjoy the family time and make that trip different and special!

We take our kids camping and are very active with hiking, swimming, boating, etc during those weeks. However, there are times the inlaws come along or my parents--those weeks are more sit around the fire and talk and not do as much. The kids understand the difference between the two trips and that each is unique and fun in its own way.

Op here. Well 9 of us are here at the hotel. The oldest son has tried to take the lead and suggest plans for tomorrow. Dh and I backed him but the mil will not agree to any plans. My kids are aware of the strings included in the gifts. The have made many conments over e years. They also very clearly prefer spending time with my family over dh's. The issue with thus is that my brother and sister live in other states. My parents live 2 hours away and we see them more than e in laws who I've 15 minutes away. The has been discussion about skipping the trip by the kids do not want to upset mil. We all pretty much deal with this once a year trip. Mil pays for the 1 day park tickets and 1 night in a budget hotel. The second night and food is for us to pay. I guess i will go be social and join them in the hall where they have gathered to talk and hang out.

I hope you are well and recovering OP. You're a better woman than I am. I'm just done being miserable so that other people won't be upset.

You live nearby, have plenty of more chances to go, this trip is only for a couple of days and it's a gift....I just don't see a big problem here. You'll have your mornings free to swim and be by yourselves.

I'd just go with the flow and try to enjoy a couple of days with Grandma her way.
