We will be arriving Thursday, June 30th and departing Thursday, July 7th. Can anyone tell me:
-Favorite restaurants in Hilton Head?
-Things to do in Hilton Head?
-What room is close to everything?
-Where you get discounts w your DVC card?
-Things to see/do/restaurants in Savannah~going to go for the day!
Thank you!

I wish I had some answers for you, but I'll be heading there for my first time in October. I hope you have a great trip! Please report back if you get a chance. There just doesn't seem to be much information sharing on here about Hilton Head.

I can't answer your questions about Hilton Head since I haven't been there (yet).

But we just got back from a week in Tybee Island, and we visited Savannah for one morning. We visited the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge (which is actually north of Savannah, in SC). It was really neat, and we saw a gator! Plus lots of other animals. The 4-mile loop driving tour is worth it, plus a stop to the visitor center.

Then we had lunch at the Pirate's House in Savannah. It is a total tourist trap but still kind of fun. The drinks were great (you have to get the Chatham Artillery Punch) but the food was terrible. Afterwards we got a private (~10 minute) tour of the place by a pirate.

We just got back from DHHIR. There are quite a few things to do in Hilton Head. When you check in, the cast member will hand you a book of 100 things to do in HHI, plus a dining guide of restaurants in the area. There are several non-Disney restaurants where you get 10% discount. In addition, we received a discount in the gift shop and on activities we made reservations for at the resort (tie-dye t-shirts, adult painting, vacation pillow making, kids night in). We were in building 26 overlooking the pool. We had asked for a marsh view, but the place was packed and we were lucky to get the pool view. Our room was close to the community hall, the mug refill station, Tide Me Over, Signals, rentals, and the pier so I can't complain. We were not close to the lobby, but we only visited there when we checked in.

We only left the resort to visit Parris Island, so I can't comment on Savannah.

Ruan Thai is a Thai restaurant right across the main road. You will need to get there by car.

Amazing service and the best Thai we have ever had.

Our room overlooked the pool on property. Not too noisy and very convenient. We were in in every evening with child monitors to watch the infants in the room.

We were there last week. Three bedroom 1822 overlooking marsh, it was beautiful. Loved Scott's seafood across the marina just walking distance. Fireworks on Tuesday night, you can see them from the fire pit. Do the campfires they are fun, you get smores at the end. Do the nature walks, especially pickney island. The tours are free. We also did the Mickey tie die, kids loved that. Beach house is awesome, we arrived every morning via shuttle around 10. Went down to the beach for an hour then back up to the beach house for lunch. Pool was great, service was great.
I didn't care for the south side of the island. You have to pay $6.00 to get down there.
We went to Savannah for a day trip and did the trolley tour. Our kids liked it also, you can pick up the trolley at the Savannah Visitor Center. You can get on and off the trolley at your leisure. Go early for the best parking. Make sure you get down to the river for shopping and good eats.

We requested marsh view and received it. We were fairly close to the check in desk, but it really wouldn't have mattered. The resort is just not that big. I would not stress over location at the resort. Rent bikes for your trip. We loved biking all over the resort and surrounding area ( and we aren't typically real active). We also went across the street to Hilton Head outfitters and rented kayaks for an hour and did the short trip. Enjoyed that too.
We ate at skull creek boathouse. It was a fun atmosphere, fun was pretty good too.
We spent 2 days in Savannah after we checked out at HHI. I would do the trolley tour. That hits the highlights and gives you transport around the city since you can hop on and off the buses. Enjoy your trip!

We were there about 5 years ago so although this info isn't new - perhaps its still relevant. Our building was pretty far from the hospitality house but maybe two or three buildings from the pool, etc., but it was a very easy and pleasant walk - not an issue at all. We faced the marsh and our room was on the 2nd floor. Someone on the Boards suggested a 2nd floor room because of the hardwood floors. Apparently if you're on the first floor you can hear everything that is happening above you, or so I've read. We loved our room.

Since we don't get much beach time we took advantage of the beach house, rented some covered beach chairs and boogie boards for the kids, swam in (both pools; the beach house and the resort). The kids did a couple of the activities that the resort offered; Mickey tie-dyed shirts and pool parties come to mind. We didn't eat off property much. We bought groceries from Publix (fried chicken was AWESOME!) so I either cooked or ate on-site most of the time. At night we walked over to town to take in Shannon Tanner, an entertainer geared for kids. He was really good and we enjoyed him. We did drive to the southern part of the island one day. It was nice but the kids got bored. We're from the northeast so I was swept away by the Spanish Moss and lighthouses, etc., I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff.

Enjoy your trip - I've heard Savannah is wonderful.

I hope you have a great trip!!

I would recommend One Hot Mama's and Skullcreek Boathouse for dinners as those were a couple of our favorites. The Mexican place in the plaza across from the resort was good as well. We had requested a marsh view but ended up with a pool view and an upgrade from a 1br to a 2br so we were very happy with that.
If you haven't already made reservations, I would suggest doing the kayak tour and the dolphin cruise there. My kids also loved the arts/crafts that were offered at the resort and the prices were reasonable.

I appreciate all of your help! We are almost there! Been on the road since 5:00 am from S. Jersey, and it's 4:15! Made a couple stops!

Enjoy! I'm jealous!! We so enjoyed our time in HH and Savannah last year.

In Savannah, I also recommend one of the trolley tours. Get off and on privileges so you can use it for transportation and stop to look around whenever you see something you'd like to spend some time on. Check Living Social or Groupon in case of a code ;)

Pirate House is kind of fun, we found that they sometimes do a lunch buffet that was good, I preferred that over the dinner. If you want something laid back/cheaper, try Vinnie Van GoGo's pizza (they also have yummy salads), by the slice or whole pizza. Should be close to one of the trolley stops

Can't speak about Savannah, only flew in and out of the airport. We also had a 2BR May of '15 overlooking the marsh, so great sitting on the balcony early sipping my morning coffee watching the boats and kyacks go out in the morning! We also went to Scotts at the marina, very good! Our family enjoyed the bikes to the beachhouse every day getting some exercise. Don't forget the Dole Whip at the Beachhouse.:thumbsup2 Question for anyone that might know..With the recent alligator attack at the beach at the GF, have they eliminated kyacks at Disney HHI?:confused3:confused3 Much thanks in advance!
