Heading to Disneyland...

Hi all. New here. :) So we're headed to Disneyland in the second week of March. We are staying at the Park Vue Inn as we stayed there 10 years ago when hubby and I went last and loved it. Since, they've updated it and it looks even nicer. Honestly don't know if there are other hotels as close that I should be looking at. I know how close this one is and that short walk across the street really appeals to me. Advice?

Also, not sure the best way to buy tickets. We want to do Disneyland for a few or three days and Legoland for one - unless we need two days for that?

Anxious to plan more, but a little overwhelmed right now. Any help would be appreciated!

We are going around the same time with some out of state relatives. I'm hoping for light crowds!! LOL As the last time we took them was the day after Christmas...YIKES...never again!! haha

The Park Vue has updated since the last time you've been and it's WAY better than before. The first time we stayed there, it was 2000 and it was a dump. haha We since then had stayed at the Carousel, Tropiciana, Camelot Inn, and the Fairfield Inn. But we tried Park Vue again back in 2006 and were very surprised how much it had changed. The beds were comfy and the rooms were clean, it's not a luxury place but for the price and location it can't be beat. That is the only place we stay at now.

Not sure about tickets as we have passes. I think you should definitely do Disneyland for 3 days. Do you have kids coming with you? I've never been but I heard LegoLand can be done in one day.

lol we were there in October of 88 and didn't think it was a dump at all! But we were young and single back then... and probably didn't pay much attention or spend much time in the room either!

Thanks for your advice!

Just so you know, a lot of AZ schools have spring break the week of March 9th - 13th and love to go to Disneyland. Lines might be a little longer.

I think the best way to buy tickets is to go to the DL website. You order them online and print out a paper that you just bring to the front gate - no waiting in line at the ticket booth. They will exchange the paper for a ticket right there at the gate.

I'm noticing that AZ Spring breaks are pretty much divided between the week of March 9th and the week of March 15th. So I would expect crowds both weeks.

Hi ~

Welcome to the boards, you don't have a child born in July of 2003 do you? Your user name seems very familiar, I was part of a message board for moms due in July of 2003.

Anyways ~ we'll be there 3/2-3/5, I've never stayed at Park Vue so I'm no help there, were staying @ Crowne Plaza (just last night I got it for $40 on Priceline) our 1st two nights and our last night is at DLH. I do love HoJo, especially when the ent rate is available. If you do have a 5 1/2 year old I recommend bringing a stroller ~ I'll be bringing one for my DD.

I think there are pretty much Spring break periods everywhere in March and April. But it's nice that they're not all at the same time, but spread out. :)

disneymomma81 - I DO have a daughter born in July 2003 and we were probably on the same boards. My daughter is 5 1/2 but hasn't been in a stroller for YEARS. I don't even have one anymore. I can't imagine her in one..... ?

As for buying tickets... I noticed they have a deal where everyone pays the child price? Just can't tell if that deal is only by booking with the Quality Inn...

Everyone pays kids prices tickets can be purchased at Disneyland.com (e-ticket option), getawaytoday or ARES travel, Disney Stores or even some Safeway stores sell parkhoppers.

Small world ~ I was something like OneOfEachHowSweet maybe Shannon1ofEach on the July boards. ETA ~ nevermind, I guess I wouldn't have known I'd have 1 of each (boy & girl) when I joined!

You can get the everyone pays the kids price tickets pretty much anywhere ~ lots of people like getawaytoday.com, you can get them directly from disneyland.com, you'd just print out a paper..... looks like DangerMouse beat me to this.

You will be walking many miles per day, DLR is really the only place DD still uses a stroller. She's not in it all the time, we'll park it once we get to a land.

I noticed from another thread you live in B.C.

You may save $$$ if you buy your tickets thru FlightCentre.ca. For 3-day park hoppers, they have a flat rate of $176 CAD (for adults and children since it's the Everyone Plays at Kids' Prices deal). It was $170 but they raised it 2 weeks ago. :sad1: If you buy it at BCAA or the Disney website, you'd have to pay $149 USD and after the exchange rate, it's $185+ CAD.

Do you collect Airmiles? You can get a 3-day hopper pass for 1325 reward airmiles.

Are you getting a car rental and planning to drive into the DL parking lot each day? If you are, buy one park hopper pass from BCAA. It gives you free daily parking -- saves you $12 per day.

Here's how we got our tickets for our upcoming trip in March:
2 - "free" from Airmiles :thumbsup2
1 - from Flight Centre
1 - from BCAA for the free parking.

HTH!!! Have a great trip!!! :goodvibes

flightcenter.ca - I'll have to take a look at that!

I do collect airmiles - but only have 500 right now....

We're actually driving so we'll have our own vehicle there, and are staying at Park Vue right accross the street.

Thanks for your post!!
