just got back from urgent care. I did something to my ankle, not sure, but I can't put my full weight on it. Doctor wants me to get X-rays but we leave tomorrow for Disneyland! So, I'll get one when we get back but now I have a boot. Does anyone know what Disney's protocol is for something like this? I'm so bummed. We are a rope drop, run around the parks family with me as the fast pass runner. I have no idea what to do. I'll ask the conceirge tomorrow when we check in.

That stinks!

You might need to rent a wheelchair to use. If you can walk some, you can just go through the regular entrances. If you can't, you may need to go through the exits or accessible lines for rides. Just be prepared to take the park at a slower pace than normal. You'll still have fun!

Get an ECV (you can rent one at the park) and check into getting a DAS for use so you don't have to stand in line.

I pulled a bad muscle in my though ending up in a moderate to severe strain and arrive Thursday and decided to rent an ECV. I know it does not sound fun but your health and comfort is important.

We called Deckerts and they were very easy to work with and work with many hotels to deliver. My husband had to convince me but knowing I typically walk 14 miles a day there's no way I could do that currently.

My understanding is that DAS does not cover mobility issues ( hence a wheelchair or ECV could solve the possible challenges) but you can always ask.

Thank you for the advice!! What is Deckerts??

Thanks everyone! I was kinda down in the dumps thinking our vacation would be ruined. But, I'm going to Disneyland!! Luckily we get in around 11:00 and we rents a cabana at the Grand Californian so I can relax with my boot all day.

I think I will rent an ECV. So, I can just get it from the parks??

I would order one from Deckerts. The ones from the parks cannot leave the parks themselves or the esplanade. If you need the ECV for outside that perimeter, then Deckerts would be better. They will deliver to and pick up from your hotel.

I would definitely rent one from a medical company like previous posters have said. While we have no experience with renting ECVs or wheelchairs, I've heard that the ones at Disneyland tend to run out quickly (especially if you go on a busy day).

I don't believe that you will qualify for the DAS. From what I read here, mobility issues do not qualify for the DAS. But you never know, it never hurts to try.

What is DAS? I've seen it mentioned before but because I wasn't hurt I never figured it out.

Alas, mobility issues don't qualify. A wheelchair or scooter will be expected if you can't stand/walk in lines. Just get a scooter, IMO. You're going to be *exhausted* trying to walk around like you no doubt normally do at the parks. I wouldn't do a wheelchair because your hands and upper arms aren't used to pushing yourself, and it'll get difficult for your family/friends to push you. The scooter lets you control your movement. :)

Is there a chance of a break? You're either driving or flying I assume; does the doctor know this and has he given his OK to a long drive or a flight? Many doctors would be worried about a blood clot happening.

Is there any chance you could go to an urgent care once in Anaheim and get that xray done? I've read that nowadays they like to let a possible break settle a bit before getting an xray, but I would worry that with walking etc at Disney you would inflame it more by the time you get back from the trip?

DLH keeps them at the bell desk, the ones from Deckerts. I'd assume they could get you one to the grand if you're staying there. I needed one last minute on our trip and it was ready for me to go get 10 mins after calling! Even if you were all park people, and the FP runner, you'll still do just as well. Bonus for us, one of the little girls rode on my lap, saved us from needing the double stroller! Get the map that tells you where to go with the wheelchair. We actually got a lot done with the ECV!

I might try and get an X-ray done. I assume there will be plenty of urgent cares near the park. We have a short flight, flying to Orange County from Seattle is about 2 1/2 hours. As soon as we check in to the Grand Californian I will see about getting a scooter! Thanks so much.

Luckily, today is a relax day by the pool, and I already planned long breaks because of the heat. I also did the WOC dessert party and the Blue Bayou Paint the Night package, I'm so glad I reserved those before this even happened!

If there is a break, you could do significant damage walking on it for so long with out it being casted. It should be xrayed soon.

I can't express this enough. I broke my foot in 2006 and didn't get any X-rays until the next day as my then boyfriend thought it wasn't serious. Unfortunately turned out to be a hairline fracture and was in a cast for 12 weeks and with no insurance took an additional year to walk again unassisted.

I also don't have much faith in urgent care facilities as they completely misdiagnosed me , basically blamed my weight both times for issues unassociated - once walked into a cement bench and asked for help and refused any suggestions or X-rays, then last week was told my muscle strain was hip bursitis ( something I already have) even though the pain was NOWHERE near the area. My pcp found it was a moderate to severe strain and needed a steroid shot and rest.

I'm amazed they didn't insist on X-rays to rule out a fracture at all. I would be very careful about flying also.

We take my Parents on our trips and the are very "mobility challenged"......so just rest assured the CM's are WONDERFUL about slowing down the rides or redirecting them to a line that works better (Toy Story, Haunted Mansion) for them. They will take good care of you.

Call Deckerts as others have said --- you will need the ecv!

Thanks everyone. We are here now. I got the ECV, which is wonderful! We are relaxing today and it's so nice to have. I'm going to take it with me to the parks tomorrow and see how it goes.

I'll be getting X-rays upon my return home (Saturday) and I spoke to my doctor and she said there's no need for me to worry about blood clots. Luckily it's a short flight but I still got up three times.
