I walked up to the desk at CRT to try to check in at 6:40pm (with a 6:55pm ADR). I was told, somewhat rudely, by the CM to come back in 5 minutes as you could not check in any less than 10 minutes before your ADR. I walked to the side for a bit (and saw her tell several other families/couples the same thing). At about 6:47pm I checked in, and she was much nicer.
Now, I had originally made the reservation for 2 people, since that was the only one I could get one (they wouldn't allow a one person ADR for the last table they had). I had attempted to cancel it down to one person the previous day, but after being on hold for over an hour I gave up and just figured I'd lose the refund of the 2nd person. When I checked in I explained to the CM that it was only one, and she said that was fine and that they would let the waiter know when they assigned my table, so I got in the line to enter the picture-taking area.
It was only about 5 minutes before I went inside to wait for a bit more for my picture with Cinderella. So, I took pictures while I waited.
With about 3 people still in front of me I got my ticket saying my table was ready, so I could go up as soon as my picture session was done. If you noticed my shirt in any of the previous pictures, I wore it specifically knowing I was seeing Cindy that night. If you didn't, then it says "My Other Car is A..." and has a picture of her carriage. She loved it, as you can see in the pictures we took.
Once I finished talking to Cinderella I went upstairs to get my table. I snapped a few pictures on the walk up, of course!
I was led to my table immediately and found it all ready for me, and a second guest.
My server, Jay, came right over and after I explained that there was no second guest (and why!) he took away the extra plate and utensils, though he let me keep the wand and sword.
I have to say that I adored Jay!! He was extremely friendly and funny, was always around if I needed something (but didn't hover!) and spent a good amount of time talking to me. I have dined out alone before, at WDW and not, and been basically ignored and was so happy Jay did not do that at all. In fact I mentioned that to him and he was not surprised I've been ignored, but did say his favorite tables are the solo diners or just 2 people, as they tend to talk to him more since they aren't so busy with everyone else! I actually wound up giving him a nice gratuity on top of the 18% already included, and he was shocked and tried to give it back, though I made him keep it.
Anyway, the food! I got the Royal Tasting of Cheese for my appetizer. It was goat cheese on toast, bleu cheese and I cannot remember what the 3rd one was. It was similar to Brie, but not exactly brie. It was all good, but I couldn't eat it all. While I enjoy all 3 cheeses, too much sharp cheese starts to irritate my stomach. But if you like cheeses you will definitely enjoy it. I remembered to take a picture after only a couple bites.
For my entree I got the Roasted Beef Tenderloin, with Duchess potatoes and Asparagus.
It was DELICIOUS!!! I ate every bite of all three, and wound up quite full because of it. I am actually not a big beef eater, I prefer poultry, but it was wonderful. Perfectly cooked, extremely tender and in a very tasty Chasseur Sauce. The potatoes and asparagus were perfect too. I was one happy, and full, guest by the end.
While I was eating my appetizer the princesses started their rounds. I was near the end of the rotation, so the first one, Jasmine, didn't make it to me until my entree arrived. She was very nice, and we had a nice conversation about how I should get a Magic Carpet so my travel time will be less and I could come more often.
I will warn you that none of my pictures with the princesses came out great, and Jasmine was the worst. The gentleman at the table next to me was kind enough to offer to take the pictures, but didn't do a great job. They are all okay though, so I'll post them.
Aurora came by a few minutes later. While she was friendly, she didn't really talk much at all.
Snow White came around third, and she was pretty friendly too. When I told her I planned to see the Seven Dwarfs at
MVMCP she told me that if I brought Grumpy a Red Rose he may even smile for the picture, since that's the only flower he likes.
Ariel was the last to come over, but definitely my favorite. When she noticed I was alone at my table she sat down in the other seat and talked to me for about 7-8 minutes about food, and desserts, and her favorite things to do in the park, all without breaking character. For the record, she adores the Dole Whips and they are also the only dessert that Eric likes too. And she loves that their castle is now open for the guests to see too now. She was a lot of fun, and was great with the little boy in the next table over too, who kept asking where her mermaid tail was.
Oh, and my picture package arrived sometime during the entree portion as well.
Once the princesses all came and went, and I finished my entree, Jay came over to ask about dessert. I was full, but wanted to try the newest dessert, which still isn't up on AllEars, which was Pumpkin Cheesecake with candied pecans and a cranberry topping in a graham cracker crust.
I'm very glad I got it, as it was also delicious. The crust was good, the filling incredible, the candied pecans were yummy and even the cranberry topping added to the flavor. I was so full though that I could only eat half. Jay offered to package the rest up for me, but since I was doing MVMCP right after I didn't think it would be good for that many hours in my bag. I gave Jay his gratuity and talked to him for a few more minutes before I left. He told me he was going to get them to refund me for the second guest I paid for, even though I didn't give 24 hours notice. They actually wound up getting refunded completely, and when I called them to tell them about the mistake they told me to enjoy the extra pixie dust and keep the full refund!

So, it was already worth it to me having paid for 2 people for just myself, so to get it all for free was amazing!
NEXT TIME: CHRISTMAS PARTY TIME!!
