He Was Bitten, Bitten By The Bug! A Nov-Dec '12 TR **WRAP UP 7/26**

Hi! Love all your pictures ... its so cool to see other hotels, love your pictures of Pop! I also felt intimidated by the GF, though it was a cool place to visit ... and Poly is pretty true to form since in Hawaii we aren't too big on Xmas decorations. Mostly around here its just listening to "Mele Kalikimaka" a million times over since its what the tourists expect to hear, and they prefer their decor tropical, even around the holidays.

Hope your uncle has better mental-and-physical health days ahead soon!

Pictures looks so amazing and breath taking. I would say that disney could use you as a photo pass photographer :thumbsup2

I'm sorry to hear more bad news about your uncle. It's a good thing they caught the clots and hopefully there aren't any issues in dealing with them.

I really like the scenery at the Little Mermaid ride. I only rode it using Fast Pass, but I clearly should have done standby at some point. The scenery along the line looks really amazing. I'd also like to try that crab game sometime too. I think my favorite part of the ride is the beginning scene when you go under the sea.

NEXT TIME: I'LL NEVER GET THIS SONG OUT OF MY HEAD IN TIME FOR DINNER!
It's a Small World??? :crazy2: :faint: :lmao:

It's a good thing that your uncle's doctor found out about the clots when he did. I hope that he does well now that he's back in the hospital. Hopefully, this doctor will be able to talk him into going into some sort of rehab facility. Do you think that your aunt could talk with the doctor privately and make that suggestion?

I am so excited to see the pictures of the new Little Mermaid attraction. It looks like the theming is done so well.

Thanks! I think the Poly is a gorgeous resort, and the decorations they had were nice, I just wasn't overwhelmed with a Christmas-y feel. But what you said makes sense as far as why.

Thanks, I hope so too!

Thank you! At one time I did want to become a professional photographer, but never went to school for it. I've thought about it from time to time though.

Thank you. I'm glad they caught them too!

That beginning scene where you go under the water is pretty cool, and a very nice touch as they could have just started the scenes without it but adding that just gave a nice touch. Definitely go thru the standby line at some point, as the details and crab game are pretty cool!

:rolleyes1

I know the hospital has already tried to talk to him about giving the rehab a chance once he gets out in a couple of days, and so has my aunt. I hope he listens this time, but to be honest I doubt he will.

I'm excited for you all to see it too! Definitely do the standby line if you can, as the theming is wonderful. I'm sure I missed some things even while talking to the couple in front of me about how wonderful the theming was! :rotfl2:

Just joining your TR, what a great one! I'm also from MD. I can't imagine going to WDW alone, I think I'd be lonely waiting in lines for rides and stuff. But great for you for going and enjoying the places at your pace. I can imagine it is nice to do the rides, take breaks, etc whenever you want to.

Great update, Stephanie. You got some really great shots on the outside of the Mermaid ride. I was blown away by all the detail...they did a superb job.

:welcome: You'd be surprised how many people at WDW will talk to you in line and at restuarants. I don't know if there was any line in which I didn't talk to other guests. So I wasn't really lonely at all.

It is quite nice to be able to do things at your own pace (which in my case is fast!!!) and do what you want and skip what you don't.

Thanks Kathy! I was blown away too. I expected it to be well done, but was surprised by all the little things that I noticed. And I'm sure I missed a lot too!

Stephanie, I'm sorry that your uncle is still having so much trouble. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers for the procedure tomorrow. :goodvibes

I have never been on Barnstormer but I plan on changing that in two months. The boss said yes so I will be heading back to Disney in 54 days! Guess I better get cracking on the planning.

I was so impressed by the themeing around the Little Mermaid Ride! You got some great pictures! The day we were there, the line was moving so fast I barely had any time to take pictures. Mom and I loved the whole ride too, especially the Under the Sea room.

His procedure was actually today, I posted about it late yesterday. I'll post an update on that in a minute!

:cool1: on getting to go back soon!!!! Have you talked to your husband yet??

The Under the Sea Room was the best, and biggest, with so many details! :goodvibes

UNCLE UPDATE:

Good news, bad news, and more good news time.

First, the good news. My uncle's procedure was this morning and all went fine. He came through it just fine and they got all the clots (they believe, they will double check with another test in a week to be double sure).

The bad news: his insurance decided since there's nothing that can be done for him and he is refusing rehab they wouldn't pay for him to stay in the hospital. So instead of being there until Sunday like he was supposed to be, they released him this evening and he is home.

Second good news: he is doing much better though. Talking clear (he was still slurring his speech and having trouble talking until yesterday), able to move more deliberately on his own, feeling a little stronger....all good signs and makes things a little easier on my aunt. He still needs help with everything, but can do at least part of the work now.

He still has a long way, but is definitely improving each day! :goodvibes:grouphug: Thanks again to all of you!

 Whoops, guess I should really should look at the dates of posts before I reply! Glad everything went well for him.

Talked to the DH Friday night. It wasn't pretty but we've been married long enough that we can be a bit ugly and get over it quickly! :rotfl: He's fine with it now and I'm all booked. It did take him till Sunday to admit that he was most upset because I didn't invite him along. :confused3 He had no desire to go and would have never said yes but he was hurt I didn't offer! Oh well, I'll know better next time.

Oops! Well, just be sure to invite him next time, so he can say no and you can pretend to be just "okay" with going alone :thumbsup2. Glad he is fine with it now, and yay for your uncoming trip!

DAY ONE, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 29TH, PART SEVEN

After riding LM I headed back toward Belle, but the line was still over an hour long so I skipped it again, knowing I'd be back to MK two more days. As I walked out of FLE I got another shot of the Mine Train progress.

318_zpsdc821cbf.jpg

I headed over to Peter Pan, but the line was too long. I had a 6:55pm ADR for CRT, and wanted to catch the lighting ceremony beforehand, which would be around 6pm. It was already 5:20pm, so I needed a short line. So, as afwdwfan guessed, I headed to It's a Small World, since the posted wait was only 5 minutes.

319_zps70afb8fb.jpg

It was probably more like 8 minutes, but that was mainly because they had 5 people in wheelchairs waiting to ride, so that took some extra time. But it was still short enough wait, though I did take some pictures while in line.

Once I finished the tour of singing dolls (which I actually enjoy!) I headed around to the front of the castle to try to make the lighting show. I actually managed to find a spot among the TONS of people, and it was a great spot! In fact, I was directly in front of the castle and up close! The show started just a couple of minutes after I arrived. First, Mickey and the gang showed up, with the Fairy Godmother...

373_zpsc9ad3074.jpg

...then Cinderella and Prince Charming arrived too!

374_zps7f0d32c9.jpg

Once Cindy gave her Godmother permission to decorate her castle, The Fairy Godmother got to work!

The whole gang loved it!

381_zps8c8c2fe7.jpg

and....that was the end. Since I still had about 25 minutes until I could check in for my ADR, I got a quick pic of the Partners statue with the castle (before they turned the lights back on!), and then got in line for a PP (along with everyone else!!!!).

382_zps2ca12cc7.jpg

I love that shot! After the 15-ish people in front of me got their pictures done, I got mine. First, here's the one with my camera...

And the PP one

I headed back around the Castle once again toward CRT. A couple castle shots from the side:

and the back:

I got a shot of Cinderella's fountain and the carousel as I walked around too.

CONTINUED IN THE NEXT POST (IF PHOTOBUCKET COOPERATES!!!!)

Love all the pictures of Small World! That is usually one line you can count on to be short.

ETA - I posted at almost the same time as you posted the second part! Mom and I planned on making the Castle lighting show but didn't make it up front in time. It looks like we didn't miss too much. :rotfl:

Great photopass pictures and I can't wait to read about the CRT dinner. Someday I will eat in the castle!

I walked up to the desk at CRT to try to check in at 6:40pm (with a 6:55pm ADR). I was told, somewhat rudely, by the CM to come back in 5 minutes as you could not check in any less than 10 minutes before your ADR. I walked to the side for a bit (and saw her tell several other families/couples the same thing). At about 6:47pm I checked in, and she was much nicer.

Now, I had originally made the reservation for 2 people, since that was the only one I could get one (they wouldn't allow a one person ADR for the last table they had). I had attempted to cancel it down to one person the previous day, but after being on hold for over an hour I gave up and just figured I'd lose the refund of the 2nd person. When I checked in I explained to the CM that it was only one, and she said that was fine and that they would let the waiter know when they assigned my table, so I got in the line to enter the picture-taking area.

391_zps5474fd99.jpg

392_zps98537707.jpg

It was only about 5 minutes before I went inside to wait for a bit more for my picture with Cinderella. So, I took pictures while I waited.

393_zps0a919ce0.jpg

394_zpse027a110.jpg

With about 3 people still in front of me I got my ticket saying my table was ready, so I could go up as soon as my picture session was done. If you noticed my shirt in any of the previous pictures, I wore it specifically knowing I was seeing Cindy that night. If you didn't, then it says "My Other Car is A..." and has a picture of her carriage. She loved it, as you can see in the pictures we took.

Once I finished talking to Cinderella I went upstairs to get my table. I snapped a few pictures on the walk up, of course!

407_zps4e3e9444.jpg

403_zpse4a61d37.jpg

405_zps3199ff97.jpg

I was led to my table immediately and found it all ready for me, and a second guest.

396_zps792ebaa4.jpg

My server, Jay, came right over and after I explained that there was no second guest (and why!) he took away the extra plate and utensils, though he let me keep the wand and sword.

I have to say that I adored Jay!! He was extremely friendly and funny, was always around if I needed something (but didn't hover!) and spent a good amount of time talking to me. I have dined out alone before, at WDW and not, and been basically ignored and was so happy Jay did not do that at all. In fact I mentioned that to him and he was not surprised I've been ignored, but did say his favorite tables are the solo diners or just 2 people, as they tend to talk to him more since they aren't so busy with everyone else! I actually wound up giving him a nice gratuity on top of the 18% already included, and he was shocked and tried to give it back, though I made him keep it.

Anyway, the food! I got the Royal Tasting of Cheese for my appetizer. It was goat cheese on toast, bleu cheese and I cannot remember what the 3rd one was. It was similar to Brie, but not exactly brie. It was all good, but I couldn't eat it all. While I enjoy all 3 cheeses, too much sharp cheese starts to irritate my stomach. But if you like cheeses you will definitely enjoy it. I remembered to take a picture after only a couple bites.

397_zpsedd33a06.jpg

For my entree I got the Roasted Beef Tenderloin, with Duchess potatoes and Asparagus.

398_zpsee0bd478.jpg

It was DELICIOUS!!! I ate every bite of all three, and wound up quite full because of it. I am actually not a big beef eater, I prefer poultry, but it was wonderful. Perfectly cooked, extremely tender and in a very tasty Chasseur Sauce. The potatoes and asparagus were perfect too. I was one happy, and full, guest by the end. :cloud9:

While I was eating my appetizer the princesses started their rounds. I was near the end of the rotation, so the first one, Jasmine, didn't make it to me until my entree arrived. She was very nice, and we had a nice conversation about how I should get a Magic Carpet so my travel time will be less and I could come more often.

I will warn you that none of my pictures with the princesses came out great, and Jasmine was the worst. The gentleman at the table next to me was kind enough to offer to take the pictures, but didn't do a great job. They are all okay though, so I'll post them.

399_zps0a24692a.jpg

Aurora came by a few minutes later. While she was friendly, she didn't really talk much at all.

400_zps3a9b2cf2.jpg

Snow White came around third, and she was pretty friendly too. When I told her I planned to see the Seven Dwarfs at MVMCP she told me that if I brought Grumpy a Red Rose he may even smile for the picture, since that's the only flower he likes.

401_zps942742e4.jpg

Ariel was the last to come over, but definitely my favorite. When she noticed I was alone at my table she sat down in the other seat and talked to me for about 7-8 minutes about food, and desserts, and her favorite things to do in the park, all without breaking character. For the record, she adores the Dole Whips and they are also the only dessert that Eric likes too. And she loves that their castle is now open for the guests to see too now. She was a lot of fun, and was great with the little boy in the next table over too, who kept asking where her mermaid tail was. :rotfl:

402_zps5a34a22f.jpg

Oh, and my picture package arrived sometime during the entree portion as well.

Once the princesses all came and went, and I finished my entree, Jay came over to ask about dessert. I was full, but wanted to try the newest dessert, which still isn't up on AllEars, which was Pumpkin Cheesecake with candied pecans and a cranberry topping in a graham cracker crust.

406_zps90b350ba.jpg

I'm very glad I got it, as it was also delicious. The crust was good, the filling incredible, the candied pecans were yummy and even the cranberry topping added to the flavor. I was so full though that I could only eat half. Jay offered to package the rest up for me, but since I was doing MVMCP right after I didn't think it would be good for that many hours in my bag. I gave Jay his gratuity and talked to him for a few more minutes before I left. He told me he was going to get them to refund me for the second guest I paid for, even though I didn't give 24 hours notice. They actually wound up getting refunded completely, and when I called them to tell them about the mistake they told me to enjoy the extra pixie dust and keep the full refund!
pixiedust: So, it was already worth it to me having paid for 2 people for just myself, so to get it all for free was amazing!

NEXT TIME: CHRISTMAS PARTY TIME!! :santa:

It is usually a short line. Though later on in my trip it was a 45 minute wait!!! :scared1: I didn't get on it then.

It wasn't much of a show, though it was cute. I was glad I saw it since I had missed it in 2010, but I won't stress about seeing it on a future trip now.

Thanks! I just posted the CRT meal. You should definitely eat there at some point, as I loved it all.
