I am new to this so please bare with me.
So I am here to give you my take on the day of our engagement and tell you how I felt. Here we GO!
So the best moment in my life was about to take place. You have no clue how nervous I was, but I will first explain the plan and the events leading up to the proposal.
First of all my mornings are very precious to me as I LOVE my sleep!!!! I need a good hour before doing anything or I tend to not be such a happy camper. I came to realize that these wonderful people I was planning on starting a life with could go with no sleep at all.
I was woken up at 6:30am, which is way to early for me. We all had agreed to go to the Magic Kingdom and have breakfast at Cinderellas Castle. This was all part of the plan but the Princess did not know a thing.
Before breakfast and the proposal took place I wanted to volunteer for the flag retreat ceremony. It is a military Honors ceremony in which the U.S Flag is lowered and put up for the night so it is not left out at night unprotected from the elements and to keep it safe from those who would desicrate it. I gave my information to the Manager in charge and we were on our way to meet mom and dad for breakfast.
I decided to propose at the castle because it is the only thing that mom, dad and I could think of to make her fantasy and dream proposal come true. After all she is a princess to me and all who know her. Being the Prince of Italy I had to make it something she would never forget and then some.
We sat for breakfast and after ordering our food said I had to go use the restroom. That was of course a way for me to slip away and give the kitchen Manager the rings I had gotten her. He knew exactly what to do with them as this was all pre-arranged. After we had finished eating they were to bring her ring out on a silver platter with a cover. Needless to say I was very nervous and did not eat all of my food, which is unheard of!
So we finished eating and discussing the days events making sure Princess Caitlin thought we were leaving, hoping to throw her off. I saw the CM coming with the platter and knew it was time. What mom did not know was that I did see the platter on its way but she did not know I did. She repeatedly kicked me under the table as if she was trained by the Special Forces herself as Caitlin did not notice.

I was playing it cool and did not want to give it away. At this point I was no longer nervous as I handle stress in the public eye very well.

I was a recruiter in the Air Force and a big part of what we do is public speaking. So I had this in the bag so to speak.
When the platter was was set on the table the CM said "your Prince has ordered a special desert for you" and walked away so the photographer could get his shots. Caitlin looked a little puzzled but I knew that she knew what was going on. I stood up in front of mom, dad, and my soon to be fiance and lifted the lid to the platter. Did I mention there were every bit of 60 to 70 people in there eating, including the CMs and the princesses walking around. Inside the platter was a bed of red roses, 5 stones, a glass slipper and inside the slipper was the engagement set. The 5 stones represent a pair of penguins. In nature a male penguin gathers 5 stones for his soon to be mate. If she accepts them then they will be together till death. Her favorite animal is a penguin and this is why I chose to add this into the package.
She was taken aback when she saw that all in front of her. I dropped to one knee at her side and said "You make me the happiest I have ever been, will you make me the happiest man alive and be my wife". Even though I knew the answer I still had that "I dont know feeling".

She looked at the rings, mom and then dad and they were all in tears. She then looked at me and said "YES" with a huge smile, hug and kiss.
This so far in my life is the happiest I have ever been.

We then got pictures with all the princesses including Belle who happens to be my princess's favorite. The CM's were amazing and this would not have been possible without them. My new mother and father are absolutely amazing. This would not have happened at all without their help and blessing when I asked for their blessing.
Mom and dad never skip a beat and it is great to have them in my life. They have taken me in as their own son already and there is no way to even say how I feel for them. Their parents are also very good people and i love this whole new family I am now apart of.
My fiance "Princess Caitlin" is the most caring, sincere, beautiful, funny, and intellectual person I have ever had the Honor to call my friend and now companion for life. I am the luckiest man alive.
Now since you all know I handle stress in the public eye so well, I have another story that you have already heard about.
I love attention and always will. The Flag ceremony I volunteered for was the same day as our engagement, So when I say this was the best day of my life, I mean it. I helped retire the flag at the Magic Kingdom. I carried the Nations Flag that i love and protect with all my heart, down main street Disney in front of thousands of people. I was so Honoredand humbled to do this. I was in the Honor Guard at every base I have been stationed at and have done countless military Honors funerals. This is well up there with those experiences and i will never forget this day for the rest of my life for more than a few reasons. I got to share my military life personally with my new family and that means more to me than any detail I did while on the Honor Guard team.
I hope you all enjoyed my thoughts on what happened. I'm really looking forward to my future with my new family and tackling what may come.
Lots of love,
~Josh~ AKA.... Prince of Italy
