Well here's another sappy sucker you made cry! Very sweet and you are blessed to have been able to share in that moment. Now have fun planning!
CongratulationsI was over on the wedding forum and just had to come over and read the trippie and now I am hooked (and sub-ed lol). Sooo looking forward to reading more about your fantastic magical trip.
Aww! That is such a cute story. My mom is the same way, she'll probably cry the day I get engaged.
I am SO happy that Caitlin and Josh found each other! They seem perfect together.![]()

Finally I can say it here on the Dis - Congratulations Caitlin!
Loved hearing the story again with the photos to go with it.
And Dawn, loved your side of the story. I especially like that you were able to be a witness to the whole thing.
Can't wait to hear the guys' sides to the story!
Just caught up - Congratulations Caitlin! What a perfect place to get engaged! It was lovely to hear your side of the story too, Dawn!![]()
Dawn, somehow I missed you thoughts on the engagement. So touching. I cannot imagine the emotions you were feeling. How were you able to keep it together? I am glad you were able to share that moment with Caitlin. And how great that you had your own "personal photographer" to capture the moment.
Congrats Caitlin and Josh!!! How wonderful!! I love the story about the princesses who knew their beaus a short time. Very funny. And hey when you know, you know!!! The proposal was so perfect, and the pic of your parents holding hands was priceless. What a lovely and endearing family. Oh and Justin Verlander is dating one of my girlfriends, so I am glad Josh came along.
Can't wait to hear more of this beautiful fairy tale story!!
Loved reading the proposal from your point of view. As soon as I finished reading what Caitlin wrote, I was wondering what was going on in your head, so I'm so glad you included your thoughts. It was so sweetand you remind me of my mom. That's exactly how she would have reacted if it were me or one of my sisters, though probably with more tears.
PKONDZ I am giving you some great material here
A few weeks before our trip Josh came to Dale and I asking our blessing. To be honest, I didn't even know young men still did that.
Anyway, it certainly did not come as a surprise that he wanted to marry her.
I'd known it would happen since their very first date.
You see, when he walked into my mom's home that first night I heard a little voice.
Now I do not hear voices on a regular basis, just special occasions
So when that kind, earnest and handsome young man asked for our blessing it was not a surprise. It also wasn't hard to know what to say.
I never thought Caitlin would find someone that her grandparents deemed worthy of her ... but even her very protective grandparents love him. Like Cinderella's slipper, Josh is a perfect fit.
I'm sure you parents can understand how emotional that day was for me. As Dale and I approached the castle that morning I could already feel the tears welling up and I knew I'd have to work really hard to hold it together.
During breakfast as the princesses visited our table I kept remembering Caitlin as a little girl.....her first visit to WDW at 2......dressing like Belle or Jasmine for various Halloweens....pulling the sword out of the stone at age 5. You understand.
Finally breakfast finished and I saw the waitress with the tray. I was seated next to Josh so I gave him a little kick under the table because I didn't think he saw her. He didn't seem to react so I ended up kicking him 4 or 5 times![]()
There were a couple college aged girls looking on with expressions like it was the most romantic thing they had ever seen.
Little girls were watching and looking at Caitlin like she was one of the princesses.
All the princesses came back to congratulate them and guests and staff all stopped to share good wishes as well. It was magic. The kind of magic you only get through Disney. The kind of magic that keeps us all going back year after year.
Thank you for letting me share with you. After the guys post later this week we will move on with the rest of that day. We still have so much more magic to share with you![]()
Oh the pressure!![]()
Sorry
But isn't it nice that some still do? Chivalry is not dead!![]()
Absolutely! We were very pleased that our blessing was important to him
Really? My oldest is only 14 but if/when the time comes, I'm sure I'll be like, "Marry her? But she's still a baby!"
"Dad, I'm 32. Time to let go."
Oh we thought that just didn't say it
Oooohhh. Psychic Dawn. Groovy.
Ohhhhh. Psycho Dawn. Scary.
(It's a joke! Really! Don't listen to what the voices are telling you now!)
Ah, and that's an improvement, because.... ?
I have no idea
So what did you say? I'm hoping it wasn't, "Huh? yeah, go ahead. Now if you don't mind, this is our favorite episode of Murder She Wrote."
Very nicely put.
Thank you
So it was probably a good thing that Caitlin wasn't around? Do you think she'd've noticed?
Since I am such a sap at Disney she probably wouldn't have noticed.
Oh, yes. 100%.
At which point he drops to one knee. Not because it's romantic but because his leg is so badly bruised that it just won't support him. Nice planning on your part.
Thank you
I believe the term you are looking for is "swooning".
That is a good word.
Ummm... Well... She is isn't she?
Well you and I know that she's a princess but strangers don't usually pick up on that, unless it's one of those rare occasions where she's wearing her tiara
No. Thank you for sharing. Such a wonderful memory for everyone in their own way and in each others.![]()
Oh man, two posts in one day from me is unheard of! I posted on Caitlin's wedding thread earlier but have to post again. You made me cry like a little baby, Dawn! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with all of us!
Such a beautiful moment yet you can't help but think how time flies and realize your baby girl is not a baby anymore. So many emotions, ahh! Congrats on raising someone who appears to be an a amazing young lady! You must be an awesome mom!
