Quote from Vernadah Man:

I can see your hubby entering the dining room now, shirt, tie, and jockey's!!!

VM- I guess then we wouldn't have to ask the age old question - Boxers or briefs (or commando).

I personally hope that he likes the new pants enough to wear them every night to dinner!

Sometimes the things most fun are things not planned.....Don't get too worked up if things don't go exactly as you envision them. If the pants don't work out, go with the flow.

What a sad day...

Well, as my Grandmother use to say, "Much ado about nothing" (of course that was from William Shakespeare).

Unfortunately there are a handful of people who think wearing pants to dinner is important.

It is obviously not important to Disney or they would have enforced the dress code years ago.

Since everybody knows that the dress code is "suggested" and not required I can't imagine why this matters to anyone.

I guess there are far to few people who care about a person character and are more concerned that they are wearing pants.

Chalk up another victory for the fashion police.

I would say a person's character is well illustrated by how they choose to follow the recommendations/requests of their host.

It is an even sadder day when anyone seeks to demean the validity of others who uphold DCL's suggested attire - even at a level of personal discomfort - in order to set a proper example for the children in their midst...

I don't think it is a " handfull of people" who think following the rules is important.
Disney is limited in how to inforce the dress code, they would hope people act like adults but they should not have to police the people who choose not to.
"suggested" is the polite way to inform people what is the correct thing to do.
A "victory for the fashion police"? Because the man has decided to follow the rules and wear pants?????????
I agree with BD a person's character is certainly illustrated with their ability to make small sacrifices for the good of others. The OP truely wanted her husband to wear the pants, and his being stubbern was an display of his character.

If nothing else, Barbs hubby is showing respect to HER and their son by agreeing to wearing these pants. I don't think he really cares what DCL thinks [that was proven in the past] but it looks like he has come to respect what his wife's wishes are.

I'm happy that you've overcome this hurdle with him Barb!
:D

BD: I raise my children to be freethinkers, individuals and not to be caught up in what others think of them. Wearing pants to dinner does not make you ill-mannered when the guidelines are "suggested".

This of course is your interpretation of the "suggested" guidelines. You are being a bit presumptuous on "correctness".

For the good of others! I am trying not to laugh.

I certainly hope you mean his family, and not the others on the cruise ship. I don't care if he wears pants and he certainly shouldn't dress for anyone else except his family.

On past cruises I have worn pants to dinner, but in the future I may not, that is my decision. My wife certainly doesn't care for she thinks it is foolish to go on VACATION and have to bring anything other than shorts and T-shirts. She couldn't be bothered and has more important things to be concernd with.

Someone is going to have to enlighten me on after spending $8,000 for a week’s vacation why I have to bring a suit or pants. Isn't the point of vacation to get away from work related dress?

Okay, okay, we've had enough debates on DRESS on the ship on this board. If you want to turn this into a debate question regarding suggested dress on the ship PLEASE take it to the debate board.

Thank you.
