Hdmi Cables

thanks. is there any efficiency or clarity lost with increased length of the cable?
As long as you talking about 3ft vs 6ft (or even 9-12ft) no, there's no difference do to cable length. Personally, I'd always get the 6ft over the 3ft cable - someday I'll be moving things around and need the extra room.

FYI, I will never buy another monster product again as long as I live. Their cables are way way over priced and they are a cutthroat organization. They have been know to sue other companies that use the word monster in their names. They even filed a law suit against the job search web site Monster to stop using the name. They have driven other smaller businesses out of business with these law suits. they are the slimiest of organizations and I will never support them or buy their products.

Here is a quote from another forum that talks about Monster and their so called quality cables

Regarding monster cable:
Monster is a public company, so you can view their financial documents.
Something like 70% of their expenditures are on marketing, 20% goes to their legal department to sue anyone who uses the word "monster" (currently over 250 cases pending, they think they can copyright a word in the dictionary), and only 10% goes to actually making cables. This company is an evil monster.

I'm using the free cable that Comcast gave us with the HD service on three plasma TV's right now. I think I'll order a more expensive cable from newegg(as an X'mas gift to myself) and see if anyone here notices a difference. I'll let you know my findings!

I always order the $25 range HDMI cables for HDMI movie box, PS3 etc. so I'll try the expensive one on those too.
Please let us know. We just purchased and new tv are also using the Comcast cable.
Thanks!!! :)

While Monster is indeed overpriced, the company operates according to business principles that have a long history being the building-blocks of our capitalist society. In 1888, Cecil Rhodes had an idea to turn a rock into a fortune, by buying up all the supply of the rock around the world, and then using the art of advertisting to create a mythology around this rock, which was (especially at that time) practically worthless otherwise. The mythology and the control over the supply made the rock wildly desireable (and therefore wildly expensive) -- it had little intrinsic value itself.

And similar formulas have been used for the last century and longer. There are many ways to make a business a going concern, and be careful -- if you look closely at much of what you hold dear, your job perhaps, that of your family members, the things in your life which hold meaning, your pursuits, your interests, why you buy the things you do as opposed to more utilitarian choices, etc. -- you may very well find many instances of companies making profit on a concept rather than on the utility of what they're offering.

Around 1928, someone did pretty much the same thing with a drawing of a mouse that Cecil Rhodes did with his rocks. :smickey:

By the way, Cecil Rhodes' rocks? They were diamonds. He founded DeBeers.

thanks everyone. dh is putting the finish on the tv stand and it should be complete by wednesday. i ordered the 6 ft hdmi cord from monoprice with 3 day shipping. should be here wed or thursday. if it wasn't CHRISTMAS i would have done the cheaper shipping. with what i saved, the shipping was no big deal.

I googled my question but I'm still confused. How do I know which to order - 22, 24, 26AWG? We have a 32" LCD.
