HDDR Seating Question

I have Cat 2 seats booked for HDDR (for 3 people). I'm pretty sure I got the 'last' Cat 2 seats available because they are only showing Cat 1 and 3 available now for the same show.

So will we most likely be on the main floor or the 2nd level? From what I've read here, I think we'd actually prefer the 2nd level. So if the 'last booked' Cat 2 seats are usually assigned to the 2nd floor, that would be great. If not, I may actually change it to Cat 3. The price is a non-issue since we're on DDP.

TIA!
Kim

The place is pretty small and I don't think that there is a bad seat in the house. However, if you are sure that you would like to sit upstairs then book cat3.

We have been many times. We have never sat upstairs but from what I have seen, even though they appear to be not bad views, they do not compare with the mainfroor. They do have some upstairs seating towards the front and this might be pretty good viewing but it seems like these tables as you move back from the stage have pillars blocking some of the views. Maybe people who have sat there can be more informative on this than me. In anycase, you will love the show. We go as often as we can and this coming Oct. we are taking our entire family(10 of us) to see it once again.....smjj

We sat upstairs....the second table from the stage end. The view was perfect. The upstairs tables are placed between the posts so there should not be any blocked views. I actually prefer sitting up there because for some reason when seated on a level area(anyplace) I end up with a tall person in front of me and I then can't see.

I'm not sure what Cat we were, but when we went as a party of 3 once, we were seated upstairs on bar stools next to other people. I didn't care for that. But that was quite awhile ago so not sure if it's the same or not.

I believe you would be better off booking cat.3 if you want to sit upstairs....everytime we have been cat.2 we have been in the back main level.
smjj~ we are also taking our family of 10 this sept!! love the HDDR!;)

All the tables upstairs are raised bar height with swivel stools. The tables are no closer together than any place else and you do not share tables with other people. The tables on the floor are regular tables with chairs.

We must have been very unlucky. It was about 12 years ago and our then family of 3 were with two others. I was so mad. Since then we've always been on the floor in front near the stage no matter our table size. Of course our experience was before there were categories or anything. It was an awkward experience and our son was young and it made me nervous having him on a stool. We thought they'd given our table to someone else because we'd booked so far in advance and were surprised to be upstairs even. Those with us hadn't booked as long. IN hindsight, we should've spoken up right then about it.

When we go, we usually take the boat to Pioneer Hall where HDDR is held. On the way we also look for the lawnmower tree. This coming Oct. with our kids and grandkids in tow, I have already told them about this tree and they are all geared up to find it. We know where it is and have seen it many times but others not aware of this pass right by it and never see it...smjj

When we went, had upstairs seats, right next to stage. Thought they were great seats. I would rather be there then on main floor.

I didn't like the upstairs seats to the side. If we had been seated upstairs facing the stage, that would have been great. But we had seats to the side of the stage, and I was the unfortunate one in our party with my back to the stage.

Yes, the seats swivel, but if I wanted to watch the show, I had to swivel back and forth to eat my food. I hated it. It was distracting, and I ended up not enjoying the meal. I chose to focus on the show instead. Then, before I could eat, the server took the food away. The other person in my party did fine, because his chair faced the stage. It was just my bad luck.

I love the first floor seating, and I would love category 2. I won't do category 3 again, though.

Here is another thread that discusses the merits of Cat 3 seating:

I believe the seats are determined by booking date, and party size of course. The earlier you book the closer you are to the stage--that is how I understood it anyways. I had a cat 3 party of 2 booked and I called the day before the show to try and upgrade to Cat 2. (I assume this puts us towards the furthest seats away?) My daughter and I were seated on the second floor facing the stage, right near the spotlight control seat. I was concerned, but the seats were great and we could see all that was going on. I have sat Cat 1 right in front, cat2 second floor and Cat 2 first floor high tope, and all of the seats were good and the stage clearly visible. I wish you luck in whatever your choice ends up being!
