My ADR day was yesterday, staying onsite so I did the 180+10. I booked HDDR for one of the nights. It was linked to my reservation so it said it used my dining plan to reserve instead of paying it in full with a cc. I wanted to pay for it OOP and not use the 2 credits. I tried to unlink it, but then I couldnt book it since it was more than 180 days out. So when I get to WDW is there a way to pay for it OOP instead of using the 2 credits? Hopefully that makes sense.

I don't know, but it is a possibility of doing that.

I know that when the Dining Plan Cast Member at a counter service and a sitdown restaurant made a mistake while I was at Walt Disney World, I was able to call from my room and go to Guest Services to correct the mistake.

Maybe at the dinner, you could just tell the Disney Cast Member that you would like to pay out of pocket instead of using your Disney Dining Plan credits.

We went to HDDR last December and we had the opposite issue. My parents booked the dinner with their credit card, but we wanted to use our dining credits to pay for our meals. My Mom and I went to the Guest Services desk at their resort and was able to change it and they gave us the tickets for the dinner. We did this on our arrival day, about 12 days before we were going to HDDR. They credited her credit card and swiped our room keys to remove the credits. When she made the reservation, this is what the CM told her to do. She said going from credits to credit card or vice versa is simple and can be done at any WDW resort guest services desk or when you check in for the dinner at HDDR (although, it seems widely speculated that it goes back and forth on table assignments; some years they were doing table assignments by when you made the reservation, other times it's been when you check in for the dinner, we decided to just be safe and do it on the first day of our trip, instead of the actual night; we were seated at a table directly in front of the stage, FWIW. I've seen HDDR at least 10 times and have rarely had a bad seat though).

Actually, what I'm more curious about is how you were able to make a reservation for the HDDR. I don't remember the exact dates, but I've read in several locations that the HDDR will be closed for refurbishment from some point in October until year-end. I don't know if it has been "officially" confirmed, but I've seen it as such on multiple websites. You may want to look into it.

Vicious rumor. ;) They changed the times and opened reservations on June12th.

Ok good, I thought they would be able to switch it. I think we are staying at WL so will check with them when we get there. Wow 10 times!! Must be a good show. :) Ithought they did table assignments based on when you booked. That's why I did it yesterday. Oh well, like you said I'm sure they are all fine. Do they have silverware?? We went to Dixie Stampede in Gatlinburg last year and they don't give you silverware. Totally traumatized DH. :rotfl:

:rotfl: Yes, they have real silverware. That's too funny about Dixie Stampede! Medieval Times was/is the same way. HDDR is really good. I don't know if it's 10 times good, we just happen to always go with people who haven't been to WDW before and we think it's (HDDR) a great experience everyone needs to do or we go with someone who hasn't been in years and really likes the place. The show is cute/cheesy and the food is pretty decent. I think the unlimited beer/sangria draws in the males in our party :rolleyes1.

Last year they were having issues and the HDDR booking window was open later than the 180 too, so I think all that confusion may have helped us get a great table with people not even knowing they could book.

Hope you have a great time! The front desk at the WL will be able to do exactly what you want :thumbsup2.

I booked about a week ago or so when they released the dates for Nov. I hope it lets me get a good seat. We have Cat 2 booked and Im so excited! We have never been before so this will be our first! :woohoo:

Interesting. I think it was in the monthly MouseSavers e-letter that it was being closed for refurbishment, generally a pretty reliable source and it wasn't open to a lot of people initially at their 180 day mark.

I wonder what happened? Now I'll have to think about it, DW wanted to do it, I wasn't sold on it and the refurb gave me a convenient excuse. Now will have to rethink it.

It's a 2TS entitlement for the DDP correct?

Yep. It is 2 TS credits. I think for Category 2 and 3 seating at the first two shows and any seating at the last show.
