Hawthorn Suites near Universal on Canada Drive

Anyone stayed here? Looking for some input. We are going to be there in about a week but now I am getting the pre-vacation jitters.

We stayed at this hotel in June of 2002, during the few days that we were going to Universal. The rooms were spacious (the two televisions helped prevent disputes between the kids and their Dad). The room was clean and well maintained - although we did have to ask to be moved to a non-smoking room immediately after check in due to a heavy aroma of smoke that was irritating to my two allergy sufferers. There is a nice breakfast in the morning - hot and cold selections. I remember a small pool and a basketball net. The stairwells could have used a good cleaning - unfortunately we got to see these stairways quite a bit, as the elevators were very slow. That said, it is a decent place for the money. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. We are staying at the one in LBV this August.

Sarah-Imadsnylovr- How did the Hawthorn Suites turn out? Was the hotel ok? I've been anxious to find out!!!! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Hey there! We had a great time. The Hawthorn was pretty good. Definately not Disney but Disney isn't $89/night for a suite either. It was clean. We did have to call a few times for toilet paper and the free breakfast was okay but we would stay there again. For the amount of time we actually spend in the hotel it was definately acceptable. We did rent a van and the commute to Disney and Universal was very easy and short 15-20min max to WDW and 10 min max to USO. Hotel was right off I-4. I went to Walgreens a lot to empty camera's memory card approx 3 min drive. I did use the Laundry service 1.25 per load for wash and dryer. The dryer does not dry well unless you have a very small load. But overall we were happy with it. I may sound like I am complaining but I am just pointing out the few things we weren't happy with. Overall we liked it. The pool was clean and the kids enjoyed it. Guest services was very helpful. Anyway I hope you have fun. Let me know what you think.

Thanks so much for the info! I'm glad things turned out ok for the Hawthorn Suites. I know you seemed very worried about it. We leave on Saturday so it's getting close.
