The trip itinerary shows one way? I'm ok with never leaving Hawaii, but really what happens there?

The Hawaiian cruises this year are one way cruises. Vancouver to Hawaii and Hawaii to Vancouver. In the past DCL did round-trip from LA to Hawaii.

Not sure what you're asking "what happens there?" Do you mean "how do I get home?" Or "what is there to do there?"

So I pay Vancouver to Hawaii. Then on my own expense fly home. The return flight is not included in the cruise costs?
Can I hop on the return cruise Hawaii to Vancouver?

I am sure these sound like ridiculous questions but I am new to cruiseing.

Unless you live in Vancouver...
Get your airline tickets home to Vancouver, and Hawaii to home (or home to Hawaii, Vancouver to home)

If you want to return via boat..
Book back to back cruises.

Yes, you must pay for your own way home. Most cruiseline fares do not include airfare to/from embarkation/debarkation port. For example, for our West Bound Trans Atlantic cruise several years ago, we had to pay for airfare from Southern California to Barcelona to catch the ship and from Orlando, Florida back to Southern California once the cruise was over. You can, however, have the cruiseline book your airfare for you, if you wish. But that usually costs more than you booking your flights independently.

You can only "hop on" the return cruise if you book it. And then you have to get home from Vancouver.

It's really no different than any other cruise. You must always pay your own airfare to whatever city you cruise out of. You can book your air through DCL and have the cost rolled into your total or you can do it on your own (usually significantly cheaper). In this case it is a one-way cruise so you would need to get one-way airfare to your your cruise's departure city and one-way airfare home from your cruise's arrival city.

Or you can book the return cruise trip and double your port days.
