Having second thoughts. Should we skip Biergarten?

I am also an introvert and have eaten at and enjoyed Biergarden. I think as others have said on here that it is pretty much up to each individual person how much they do or do not interact with others.

On a somewhat related note of sitting with others. One time many years ago my friend and I were eating at the land back when t was set up differently, long before Soarin. There were small circular tables everywhere set up for up to 4 people. Anyway my friend went to the bathroom so I was sitting alone and this German family ( I think it was German they were speaking) just sat right down with me. My friend came out of the bathroom and saw this and thought it was hilarious so he did not return to the table but instead took pictured of me and my new table mates from the upper level. To this day we still laugh at my awkward lunch with the German family. Lol

Lol...that would freak me out.

It's amazing though how different cultures can be from around the world. I know my family on one side is of Scotch/Irish and French Canadian decent, and on the other Seminole. I am unsure of which side I get my introverted behavior from. I'm quiet and not very outgoing at all. I could never join someone's table like that lol.

It kind of freaked me out a bit which is why my buddy thought it was so funny to watch me squirm. Lol I too agree that it is so interesting how different cultures view things.

Answering backward.
It depends on the size of the table. I've sat a tables for 6 and for 8.

And I've only waited because they were waiting for seats to open up. Never for people to show up to fill an entire table. In fact, we have always been seated at different times than our seatmates.

Really? I've never been sat at a table that already had people at it. It's always been in a group of 6 or 8 people at once. Is this a recent thing? I haven't been in a couple of months.

I've only tried it once when I booked it for a lunch a few years ago for the CP package. It was a good experience. We were sat with one couple who were kind of shy & a family who was already there eating & weren't interested in talking but that was fine. Don't feel forced to make conversation. I'm not much into the idea either while I'm eating so just a polite "Hello" & going about your meal will be fine. :)

I have a question about seating at Biergarten and the answer will help to determine if we'll keep our ressie. My 12-yr-old dd frequently prefers to sit next to me at a restaurant rather than across the table. I'm sure that will be her preference if we're sharing a big table with strangers Will that be allowed or will we be expected to sit across from each other? Thanks!

It depends how you are seated. If you are seated first, you have a choice. If people are already at the table, then you may end up with what is left.

We haven't been since Dec 2014. But we were also seated that way in Jan 2012.

I have wanted to try this place for a while, but I always back out. Not because of the food, because I am up for trying anything once, and I am not too picky. It's the seating that gets me! We're a friendly family, but I wouldn't really know how to strike up a conversation with people I don't know while I am eating. Is that strange? Will the show pretty much prevent any awkwardness?
The people
That were seated with us wet awful and ruined our dinner. I wouldn't go back. They were judging is for having a beer with dinner bc our kids were there. So aggravating they ruined it.

I'm thinking I will give it a try. However, by December, I may back out...again....and just do another restaurant. I have Via Napoli booked just in case, but it's without the CP package.

I appreciate everyone's feedback! I wish that I could find a better picture of the tables. That would probably help too, but the ones that I have seen aren't too good. Food wise, without a doubt, I would eat at Biergarten! Why, why, why do they have their tables set up this way lol.

I think I would have called a CM over. It is one thing to mention it, or even talk about it between themselves.

But to be aggravating enough to ruin a meal? I don't know that I would have put up with it.

I'm like that also! We've only eaten there once and we weren't pleased with the seating arrangements. We prefer our own small talk while eating vs. chatting with strangers.

Some people are content with a few polite words, or a very little conversation, and others want to be 'chatty kathys'. You can't choose who you'll get. We weren't into the food too much anyway, so we just avoid that restaurant.

Did they realize where they were eating at, the name of the place should give it away for goodness sake. I'm really looking forward to eating here and drinking a really huge beer and my kids will be with me. If I get seated with some one like that I'll just order a few more and try to make them feel really uncomfortable.

That's essentially what my husband did lol. He got that big sampler of beers lol

We gave it a try on our trip last year. We did not enjoy it. We (me, DH and kiddos 13 and 4) had a hard time finding anything on the buffet that we liked (and we did review the menu ahead of time). Sitting with another family that did not speak at all was also very strange. My kids did love the music entertainment though and danced for a good while.

My family of 4 have reservations for here in December.. We have eaten with strangers before on cruise ships... My wife loves talking to strangers and i dont..

The only issues i have is the beer around my kids.. But i know they serve beer, so if the table gets to rowdy ill ask a cm to move us..

Its our first trip to dw as a family, so im just going to sit back and enjoy the adventure..

Biergarten. Memories. We're a gay couple that was seated with a large conservative family that looked us up and down, then put their diaper-clad toddler's bottom on the table as soon as we sat down and thought it was cute. We were grossed out and left. But we've also had ok shared-table experiences too. It depends. Our experience tends to be families with kids don't want to share with adult couples without kids. After Biergarten, when asked if we are willing to share a table we just say no. I would wait for the few small tables at Biergarten.
