Having a tuff time with wife

Agree Frank. I think the reason many of us travel to WDW and Disneyland so frequently is because of familiarity and comfort zone. We feel a sense of comfort knowing where everything is, how to get around, and what to do in certain situations.

There is also something to be said for leaving one's comfort zone occasionally. It can be stimulating to experience a new culture, expore new territory.

Might not be everyone's idea of a relaxing vacation...

How about Virginia? Colonial Williamsburg maybe? Plus there's a Busch Gardens nearby to enjoy as well. How about going to Disneyland instead?

My husband doesn't want to go back to WDW until Fantasyland is done but when I mentioned going to Disneyland instead he was all over that. So we are starting to plan for a trip there this summer. He also wants to go back to Universal Studios while we are there.
The kids are excited for it too so I hope I can save up the money and make it happen for us. Since we'll have to fly that really increases the costs. (We drive to WDW.)

And I will still do my solo trip once a year to WDW to get my fix in. :thumbsup2

Have you done Universal? If she likes WDW she will like that too. I can't imagine saying no to a WDW trip :lovestruc

My DH was just like your wife so, last summer I sent him to France by himself and planned a WDW/Universal trip for me and kids. He came back missing us so much he begged me to get him a ticket to join us. I let :rotfl: him join us for Universal and he loved it! New rides, new hotel, it was great fun for all.

You might like WWoHP also.
:hippie:

I feel your pain. My husband is the exact same way. He strongly dislikes going to WDW. Now if WDW had a park with actual fun and exciting roller coasters, he would reconsider. But since WDW is a family park with no such rides, I won't be able to convince him.

He has "suffered" through 3 trips to WDW and a Disney Cruise the last 10 years and he is done. So now I am having to go to other destinations. But I discovered that when we go to New York, there is an awesome Disney Store. And if we go to Europe, there is Disneyland Paris.

I know it sucks not being able to go to WDW for every vacation, but maybe if you go to a destination that she wants to go, then maybe next time she will reconsider and go to WDW. But if not, then I guess you and the kids go to WDW and try to enjoy it, even if she isn't there. My husband dislikes Disney, so when I had a chance to go to Disneyland without him, I went. It wasn't has much fun without him, but then again, I didn't constantly hear how much he hated being there and I enjoyed Disneyland.

Good luck with your next vacation, where ever it may be.

Poor Aaron, suffering through Disney World - I feel your pain Melissa! I guess it makes WDW all the more special when you do get to go! Is there anything else in Orlando he'd like to do? Like Discovery Cove? and if you go to Hawaii, there must be zip line rides, things like that - not theme park rides, but exciting nevertheless.

Do you guys do the DDP? I know for us the many dining choices keep it exciting:) We have some that we repeat and some new to make it a different trip each time. The dining is half the fun for us! Good luck, heres some pixie dust!:wizard:

Another suggestion. Book the WDW trip for youand the kids, leave your wife at home. Get her a pass to a day spa or something she likes to do in the area.

She gets her battery recharged by having some alone time, and you get your WDW fix.

i agree with the 'try a cruise'-----you can maybe do a few days at the parks before/after to get your fix, but let her enjoy the cruise- let her go to the spa, surely she'd enjoy that! The cruise is a totally different experience. What about doing a tour? spending 2-3 days at the beach or doing NASA or other outside attractions for a few days to mix it up?

i am so very fortunate and count my blessings 3x over each day that my DH finally came to his senses and now supports my Disney habit and bought us DVC. he still is not a disney nut, but just the fact that he supports my passion speaks volumes. that didn't happen for him though at first, after years of visiting the parks (including losing me for a semester to the CP), he finally 'got it' when he experienced our first trip with our son- who was 2 at the time. DH finally caught the magic then. ;)

We have been 3 times in the last 4 yrs and today she told me its the same ol park, same rides.

I'm guessing these 3 times have been at different times of the year. Otherwise, I would say try that. One year I tried the Half-Marathon, the other I tried Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Have you been to Las Vegas? You may want to spend a few days out there, take in a few shows, hit some clubs, and maybe even take a quick side trip over to Los Angeles, and if you're lucky, spend some time in Disneyland Anaheim. :)

I think Disneyland might be a good compromise perhaps with some days touring CA as well? Maybe San Francisco to see the Walt Disney Family Museum?

I love Disney but I also "need" to visit other more exotic places and foreign countries too. Thats why I alternate (for the most part) with Disney then the next trip somewhere else. I know how your wife feels. :)

I also agree that marriage is a compromise, so maybe your wife chooses the next destination and you do Disney the following trip? That might keep everyone happy.

I would consider a premium or a platinum package for one night (two days). You can do tours, boats, fishing, Segways, parasailing, professional portrait pkg, and all kinds of things that maybe you haven't done before and it's all included for one extra price.

With the platinum you even get a spa treatment and racing car experience, a wishes or illuminations cruise, and all sorts of interesting possibilities including dinner at V&A.

Check it out, and good luck!

Disneyland would probally be out, IM back in college so the funds are lower now. We can spend about $4000. on this trip. So we always drive to where we are going and not fly since roundtrip for 5 is $$$$$ We live in Louisiana and takes us about 12 hrs to drive to WDW so thats not that bad.
I have asked her where she would like to go and her answer,,I dont know. I do like the idea, leave her at home,,,not really. Thats what I love making memories. I showed the kids Universal rides on youtube, the all freaked out and said IM not riding that, That SCARY,lol. :confused3 Im talking to her about going there one day and sea wold. Trying different ideas. Thanks EVERYONE for your help and imput.
