Having a tuff time with wife

Guys Im having a tuff time talking my wife into returning to WDW. We have been 3 times in the last 4 yrs and today she told me its the same ol park, same rides. HELP I get the Disney magic but she doesnt. She has a blast when she gets there, but going yr after yr and the same attractions and rides, im having trouble getting her to book again.
Please help.

We asked the kids if they would like to go to NYC, Wash D.C, the rocky mountins. They all, as do I, want to go to WDW. Wife is out. She has to be in. Seems if WDW would just add some rides it would help. Ive been out of the loop, for about a yr, anything new? Help Please

We go every year but we do also go other places so we have some variety. Is there anyplace around WDW you might like to incorporate into the trip? Time at NASA? A day or two at the beach? A few days over at Universal?

I feel for you and I'm thankful that DH and I are on the same page but it's her vacation too. She should enjoy it and look forward to it as much as the rest of you.

Let me know if you figure it out because I've got boyfriend who's the same way. He doesn't get disney...and probably never will but so far I've been able to talk him into it because he knows I love it. But every yr right after we get back he says, we're not going to Disney next yr.

Maybe go some place else this year and go back to Disney in 2012 or 2013 after Fantasyland is done.

My husband feels the same way as your wife. Disney gets old for him after awhile.

I'm very lucky- DH and I both need our Disney fix.
We always make it a point to do a couple of new things every trip- and we go twice a year (or more).

Stay in a new resort
Be sure to eat in new restaurants
Try a tour or a fireworks cruise
If your kids are young- have you let them try the kidcare spots in the evening while you 2 have a nice evening out?
Have at least one non-park day on your trip- enjoy your resort, go shopping
Have a spa day (or let your wife have a spa day )
Leave property for a day and visit other local sites (Universal, NASA, Sea World, etc.)

Do something fun in the parks- it's not all about the rides!
In Epcot- find something to do in every country- take a picture in a hat from that country, eat a similar food in every country (snack, chocolate, a drink, etc.), be creative

I have been to WDW 25+ times so far and we have NO plans on stopping.
We want to stay in every resort, eat in every restaurant, experience every attraction. We have a long way to go in this ever changing World!!

I know, blasphemy. I think though that a lot of people get fixated on their favorite vacation spot (maybe Disney, maybe Hilton Head, maybe anywhere) and instead of venturing out and trying something new they just keep doing the same trip.

With the fantasy land expansion maybe go somewhere the wife wants to go and in another year or so hit Disney when that is done. You'll definitely have new attractions then.

Magic is where you find it and you can make your own magic.

There are many fabulous vacation destinations in this country.

My daughter likes WDW, but not like we do. She likes, ok she loves Napa in California, and they also like Arizona. I'd love to go to Napa some day - I can see your wife's point of view. I think a little variety is good! I'd love to go out west, see the Grand Canyon!!

Try a different location this year and go back to WDW next year. Marriage, like most everything in life, is a series of compromise.

It sounds like your wife like rides? Maybe go to Orlando (different to me than Disney) Plan time at Universal, maybe Sea World, Kennedy Space. Stay off Disney property and divide up your time. A couple days at Disney, a day at Universal, a beach day.

I couldn't imagine going to Florida and not staying at Disney, but my brother invited me to come with them when they went and stayed at Marriott Grand Vistas near Sea World. We only went to Magic Kingdom one day and DTD one night. I got my Disney, but we also went to Sea World and Kennedy Space Center and it was great. I had a really good time and loved seeing other things around Orlando. I wouldn't want to do it all the time, but it was a good compromise and I enjoyed it way more that I thought I was going to.

I feel your pain. My husband is the exact same way. He strongly dislikes going to WDW. Now if WDW had a park with actual fun and exciting roller coasters, he would reconsider. But since WDW is a family park with no such rides, I won't be able to convince him.

He has "suffered" through 3 trips to WDW and a Disney Cruise the last 10 years and he is done. So now I am having to go to other destinations. But I discovered that when we go to New York, there is an awesome Disney Store. And if we go to Europe, there is Disneyland Paris.

I know it sucks not being able to go to WDW for every vacation, but maybe if you go to a destination that she wants to go, then maybe next time she will reconsider and go to WDW. But if not, then I guess you and the kids go to WDW and try to enjoy it, even if she isn't there. My husband dislikes Disney, so when I had a chance to go to Disneyland without him, I went. It wasn't has much fun without him, but then again, I didn't constantly hear how much he hated being there and I enjoyed Disneyland.

guess I should add,, we have been to Kenndy Space center. All over Orlando.(ripleys,wonderworks etc) We have been to Hawaii , Memphis TN(beale st, bbq). Ive been to NYC . We have stayed in Destin for 3 days, did big kahonas waterpark, fudpuckers, joes crab shack,boardwalk, floyds in ft walton. Do that about every other yr(beach in fl) Seen the blue angles in Pensicola, FL. hum, where else. Been to Houston Tx, Hot springs ARK, did the canoe trip outside Hot Springs. Go to New Orleans about twice a yr since we live in Louisiana.Been to caves in Penn, Charlston S.C (fort sumter). Out of all those places ,,NOTHING LIKE WDW!!!
She has been on 3 cruises to key west, cancun out of New Orleans.

States we have driven threw and explored, La, Tx, Ark, Ms, TN,Ky,IL, In, Al, FL, Ga,MI, Ohio, S.C and Penn.

It seems that we will go to WDW for 2 years in a row then take at least 2 years off (sometimes more). We are currently in our "off" cycle having taken a cruise out of NYC last year and planning one for this years vacation.

In any event perhaps a cruise/wdw vacation split would work.

Agree Frank. I think the reason many of us travel to WDW and Disneyland so frequently is because of familiarity and comfort zone. We feel a sense of comfort knowing where everything is, how to get around, and what to do in certain situations.
