What would you pay to have a great experience with your spouse and kids if they have never been to WDW??
My trip is costing about ~$3278.00 WL woods view base tickets no hopper and dining plan. July2-8 2006. Is this extreme??

I am a cheapskate, and I honestly don't think that sounds too bad for WL. Of course I am used to the sticker shock of pricing a trip for 8-9 people (our immediate family). LOL
Keep your eyes open for discount codes that might be able to be applied to your package after the fact. We loved the dining plan (but we got in on the free dining promotion, what's not to love? LOL)
Have a great time!

Unless you are planning on spending a lot of time our on your balcony I would switch to a standard view room. A lot of people talk about being upgraded to a woods or court yard view and this could save you a lttile bit of money. Also if you can switch your time to a value season, depending on if schedules allow it, it could save you a whole lot of money. I do not think that price is horrible though, considering you will be ther for the 4th and assuming it is for two adults and two kids. Have a great trip. We are going to the lodge for our first time in Dec 2006 and I can not wait.

Well, I'm spending quite a bit more than that so I don't think it is extreme.

How many are in your party? Is it 4 people 2 adults 2 kids? If one of your children is 10 or over you are pay adult price for them, except room. Can you switch your ressie back to the day after the 4th of July. It is going to save you 40 dollars or so per night. Would a moderate be a better option?

Where can i catch the discounts? If i booked through aaa can i still use a discount?
They show up on this board, or on mousesavers.com
Some can be applied through AAA. Your Disney agent with AAA should let you know if one comes up, but don't depend on it. Always do your own research. :)

I saved $275.00 on our package by booking through a AAA travel agent.
They are the only ones that can get you the AAA room discount with the Dining plan.

When does value season begin for deluxes?

I think it may be after July 4th, and if you are checking in prior to that, you may be paying a higher rate for the entire trip. Disney will not tell you that the rate is lower for part of the trip, rather they will charge you the rate you check in with for the entire trip. Sometimes this works to your advantage, sometimes it does not.

Check into this.

You will love the Wilderness Lodge, and the woods view is great!

In our woods view room, we watched an otter family every morning playing in the pond right outside our room. We also were able to see the MK fireworks from our 5th floor balcony. The monorail also glides by. The WL woods view is pure magic! :wizard:

I would not even consider booking a standard, and hoping for an upgrade during the 4th of July week. It is an extremely busy time at WDW.

Enjoy the WL, and try out the Mouseboats. It is great cruising by the castle with the wind in your hair!
