Amen to that! My husband is having a small fit about leaving his parents for Christmas and thought it might be a good thing for them to come a long. "Are you kidding me???" It is my 10 year Anniversary and I have put up with these people all 10 years, having them to my house for Christmas, cooking all day while everyone else sits around and has a good time. I am finally getting away from this for one year and he wants to bring them with us. Men and their mothers:scared:

Well the answer is a BIG NO! I would have to have years of therapy to overcome a week's trip with his parents! No way!

O.K. that is my rant for the day!

Keep trying Kristan! You could do what I always do...book the vacation and tell him later!:)[/QUOTE]

I am so tempted!!!!!

Yeah well last july when i was at the GF concierge in July I had my MIL with me. Yeah the one who doesnt work and does nothing and we had to pay for EVERYTHING she did. Train ticket to get there, food, cost to add her to the room. All in all it wasnt that bad but it was weird to as she lives in FL and we arent close at all.

I just cannot do it! They are the type of people who go to the Old Country Buffet and think that is really doing it up! They would just die if they knew the kind of money we spend at WDW. They have money...but you would never know it nor would they ever part with it!!

I can just hear it now...poor, poor Ron. He works so hard and all his wife does is spend his money at Walt Disney World :rotfl2: !!

Sounds like my parents. They have never been to WDW and never will. They go to Door County, Wis every few years in the fall for "the fall color" and spend $500 and think it is the end of the world. My mom would DIE if she knew what 9 days at the GF is costing!!

You ladies are too funny!! The kids are finally asleep! I can chat now. With DS4 home on Easter break, I have no computer time! :surfweb:

We did a last minute thanksgiving trip in Nov and DH said "take whatever they have available" well, it was Caribbean Beach. Now, DH is a resort snob big time! Me, I'll sleep on a bench on Main St. if they'd let me. Him, well he wants a balcony, fireworks view, room service, an iron (I got yelled at when PO-R didn't have an iron! :rotfl: ) So I get this dirt cheap room only TA rate for CB and we take it. Well, did he b!tch all week! He hated the room, hated the location, hated the food court, hated the pool, oh and most of all hated the buses "they're just not magical":wizard:

On our last evening in WDW, we spend about 3 hours hanging around the GF. We went to see the Gingerbread house, walked the ground then ate in Gaspies. Well, then he plopped down on a pool chair and acted like a resort guest. Poor DS4 kept begging to go into the pool and couldn't understand that we were not at our resort?? Like are my parents nuts, then why are we sitting here if this isn't our resort??:confused3

That night DH declared we're staying in Deluxe resorts only and if they are not available, well then we're not coming!:scared1: Well, there goes my idea of trying all the resort!

I've learned after my two experiences with him in moderates that I will never look at the price again! It's just not worth hearing him complain the entire time!:rotfl:

:rotfl:

When I reminded him that he still owes me a vaction from last year (we were supposed to do Vegas in August and WDW in December and instead did WDW in August) he sent me a nasty email saying "We are going in December. End of Discussion."

OH NO HE DIDN'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is going to get ugly around here if I don't get mey way...

Are we going to see another ticker on your signature?????? Good Luck!

Lindsay- I use the new Bare M. cleanser and really like it. I never noticed that the Cetaphil wasn't take it all off (but I always used separate eye makeup remover- that stuff is stubborn!!). As for matte, you may be putting more on now than you were. The mineral veil sandwich may be contributing to that as well. I only do that in the summer when it is humid. Also, I clean my brushes regularly because the makeup just sits in there, it never all goes on your face. I clean my brushes about once per week (and I try not use the same brush for the different kinds of makeup)

I'm glad to hear the cleanser is good - I may give it a shot. I was thinking of getting some eye makeup remover, as the eyes seem to be the more "stubborn" stuff. Never had to use it before, but guess maybe it's necessary with Bare M!

I would almost think I had more on the first day, as I kept layering, going back and forth. It's also been kind of humid and yucky here the past 2 days, so maybe that has something to do with it (thus, why I tried the MV sandwich). I'll keep playing - it's not like it looked bad, I just felt it wasn't as good as the first go-round. Beginner's luck, I guess! We'll see how I fare tomorrow.

Hi!! Oh geeze...my head is so stuffy. I could deal with it in FL but back here in IL where it's so UGLY and snowing it feels like I just want to crawl back into bed.

Well!! We had a wonderful time. There is so much to tell...I am sure when I look back at my pics it will remind me of stuff.

Welcome home, Channing. So sorry to hear that you're feeling cruddy. Wow - the crowds sounded downright :scared: . Glad you had the GF to return to! Easter sounded like a great day at the resort. Can I borrow Josie when I pick a pearl in May? ;)

Sorry to hear about O'Hana's too - only eaten there once, and we were incredibly underwhelmed, so we haven't been back. Still, I know how disappointing it can be when a fave turns sour.

So, how is the Bare M working out for you? :goodvibes

And we do appreciate it!!

I just sent DH a price quote for a week after Mother's Day, hoping that today's snow would change his mind, but instead, he told me if I was bored I should count snowflakes and not price pacakges on Disney's website!! He is such a grouch!!!!!!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

but also  for you!

Kristin, I would love to do a quick trip with the discount too ... Not happening for us either though. :rotfl:

Hello, everyone!!! Just got back from San Antonio today. 3 adults and 6 kids = a bit of disaster but so much FUN! We had a great time. I ate too much Mexican food though and definitely must get back to WW starting Monday. DD goes back to school then and it will be easier to get back on the wagon!

Channing, can't wait to see your pics!!!

Have a great day!!!
- Andrea

Sounds like a great time! Welcome back.

He is normally not this stubborn, but when it comes to WDW he it. He truly thinks one time per year is enough :confused3 I even volunteered to stay at Pop!! :rotfl:

:scared1: :scared: ;) :rotfl:

Well, I am really fighting hard!!

For the 3 of us to go to Pop for 6 nights, with PH, dining and airfare is $2500. Since he nixed that, I priced out 3 nights in Vegas at the Venetian for the same time period for just him and I and it was $1400... I reminded him that the WDW trip is twice as long, we have already eaten and DS gets to come too... I will see if he responds to my email... :rolleyes1

ETA: he told me that it is free to stay home and enjoy dining at our fine local establishments for $50 per day (where is he eating??) and enjoy our 4000 square foot suite... I reminded him that it is 30 degrees here and 80 degrees in my other destinations and that he cannot change!!

Sounds perfectly logical to me! :thumbsup2

You know I am desperate when I am willing to go to Pop!!!

(who am I kidding, as soon as he agrees I am secretly upgrading to at least a moderate with the old "it was only $200 more" trick ;) )

Oh, we've all done that! :rotfl2:

Hi Ladies, Me and the kids are all sick. Fever, coughing, runny noses, etc.. Just lovely!

But I've lost 3 pounds this week!:woohoo: Well, I haven't been eating! :lmao: I just received in the mail today the postcard from WW to come back with free registation. A friend of mine just joined, so I'm thinking of going with her. Even though I know I can do it on my own. I've lost 14 lbs since Jan. I haven't been really sticking to it since maybe a week or two ago, but joining will really keep me on track. Plus now they offer that membership pass that if you prepay it comes to like $9 a week. I remember a few years ago it got up to $15 a week here in NY. That's a little steep for a meeting. For $9, I'll go!:rotfl:

I'm motivated to lose 20 lbs before our trip. But I need to stay off the restaurant threads and stop looking at the food porn!!:lmao: If only I planned our park strategies like I planned our meals!:rotfl:

Sorry to hear you guys are sick! Lots of :wizard: :wizard: that it goes away soon!

Good luck with signing back up for WW! Yes, I'm sure the food porn threads have to have a daily point count!

:rotfl:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

This reminds me of early 2006, when I tried to "give" DH a weekend trip to the AKL concierge level so he could do the Sunrise Safari for our anniversary. He wouldn't bite, and said we wouldn't go. :headache:

About 3 weeks later, we were on a plane to FL on that exact weekend. We did stay at AKL, but not CL-level. We just stayed std. because we were going down to buy DVC. :rotfl:

If he had acquiesced earlier, it might have been cheaper. ;) :lmao:

I think I heard the forecast for tonight in the Chicago area is VERY CHILLY:rotfl2:

 to you! I hope you keep the Christmas celebration you want.

My in-laws, while sweet people, are the exact same way about vacations. They rarely go anywhere, and it's usually to see their parents. I know they have to think poorly of DH and I for traveling so much, just because it's not something they "get."

DH had barely been anywhere before we were married. Now, traveling is one of his favorite things, and we're fortunate to be able to do it. We both agree that's something that's going to remain important to us, and hope we'll be able to extend that to our family when we have one. I got to travel a lot growing up (my dad traveled extensively for work, so we got to go on a lot of "free" trips), and I think it was a really important part of gaining a broad world view.

Wow! Thanks so much for the other new thread, Kelly. I love looking at those pics but didn't want to post over there since I figure you'd like it to remain pics and not alot of chat. Great job:thumbsup2

Was wondering about Cinderumbrella and if she's had any luck yet? I saw where she posted some pics today.

Also, does anyone know if things are ok with Praline? I miss all her funny, chatty posts.

That pic of the little black girl in the Belle costume makes me laugh out loud. She looks like she is fixin to tell her Mama off for making her dress like a princess.

Hi Ladies,

I actually have some GF questions :)

I convinced DH to get a babysitter and take me out for my birthday dinner to Narcoossees. How dressy do people dress up to dine here? I don't mind dressing up, I just don't want to be over dressed.

We're going to use Kid's Nite Out for the first time. I think I'm going to get the sitter for 7pm to 10pm and do dinner around 7:30. Is there any place for us to go after dinner at the GF? (I also posted this question on the GF thread). Like a bar or lounge? Someplace to get a glass of wine? I don't want to leave the property.

Any comments on your sitter experiences are also greatly appreciated! I'm a little nervous about this, we never left our boys with anyone that we don't know before. Our sitters are family members or friends. But I feel safe with all the safety measures Kid's Nite Out has (insured, bonded, background checked, etc....) As long as they show up with a bag of toys and games my kids will love her!

Damn! Been on hold this whole time and now they tell me WDW DINE's computers are down right now!!! My luck!!

Been to Narcoossee's several times, and we always abide by the "business casual" policy. I've worn either a summer skirt/top or sweater/nice pants, depending on the time of year. DH usually wears slacks and either a s/s golf shirt, or l/s button-down. That being said, you'll see people MUCH more casual than the supposed dress policy there. Of the 3 signature restaurants at the GF, Narcoossee's is perceived as the most casual.

I answered your question on the regular GF thread, but yes, there is lounge - Mizner's Lounge is on the 2nd floor of the Main Building.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with the babysitting services. We tried to get my BIL/SIL to leave their kids in one of the kid's clubs last Dec. so they could join us at the Cali Grill, but they wouldn't do it.

Thanks Tinkaroo!! Business casual works for us!! DH lives in golf shirts!:goodvibes

Thanks for the lounge too! I would love to see photos of it. Can you sit in the lobby and watch the band? Does the band even play at 10pm at night!:rotfl: That's perfect! Just what I was looking for. Pool bar would be good too.

I would have loved to put the boys in the kids club, but my little one is just too young. As long as the sitter is "fun" they will enjoy it and think it really is a treat for them. That's my plan!!:lmao:

Now if only I could make my dining reservation!!! :headache:

I had to post again just so I could see my countdown ticker!

I am such a lurker. I love listening to all of your chit chat. I finally went down to Sephora to buy the BM and the make up guy talked me into Laura Mercier instead. I am SERIOUSLY freckled and LM had a tone closer to my own without having to blend. We'll see. It's hard to blend over my freckles. Go dark and my face looks like someone elses, go light and there is a light coating of white over my freckles. Any other freckled people with tips??

I will try and post some pics of a great dress I ordered off ebay and wonderful hair bands. Also, we're having some pirate stuff made by a local seamstress who used to sew Disney Costumes! This trip was supposed to be a surprise, but between my ex-husband letting it slip to DD12 and me prounouncing that we're going to Florida for Spring break in front of DD6, we just decided to tell them. DD6 was like, What's Walt Disney World? :rotfl: :rotfl:

So I showed them pictures. And they are happy.

We are lucky enough to live very close to DL. Even though I'm sure staying on property and being in WDW will be very different and special, I can always escape for a day to get my Disney fix and it only costs us the food. I think after this trip to Florida though, I might want to stay on property from time to time just to bring back a little of the magic.

I have had such fun planning our trip and listening to all the chit chat on this and other threads that I'm feeling a little sad it's almost over. And I haven't even gone on the trip yet!

Sorry the post is so long. Going to Target today to buy the last of the packing list!

Tracy

ps - we booked a fireworks cruise and I wanted to get more feedback on if it's worth it. It would be on our first night after traveling all day. A very busy Saturday for the parks. I'm sortof thinking we go shopping with the $300 instead and get back in time to see the show from the GF beach.:rotfl:

Give me your wisdom.

I would recommend doing it towards the end of your trip. Just something nice to end the trip with. Too much the first day can be exhausting you might not enjoy it as much.

As for shopping, we shop the day before our last day. We do a morning in DTD and have a lunch planned this trip at Fulton's Crab House. We like to do all our shopping at once, not that we buy that much anymore. We tend to now buy the same items I always buy dish towels for the kitchen, I need my WDW fix each day! I also always get a WDW night shirt. I've collected them threw the years.

I should clarify - we aren't busy, I just figured all the parks would be since it's Saturday. It's our travel day and we arrive in WDW around 5:00 ish. I thought fireworks might be a nice way to start, but then I got to thinking, maybe not. The end of the trip is a nice idea.

And your shopping idea is good, too, goofygal! I hadn't planned any time for shopping.
