Channing- Enjoy the laundry. I love the little music the buttons makes but unfortunately so does dd age3. I purchased the protection plan just because of her little fingers.

Brook- All I can say is :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

O.k. about this RPC vs SL thing. We are going at Xmas and I hate to admit that my SL price is about $775 a night. RPC is around $1000. (I could save $200 a night and just stay GV which I have thought about) I have switched several times...just ask my TA;) The reason I chose SL is because of the help with ADR's since it is the week of Xmas, help getting gifts to the resort etc and also for the snacks for the kids. It is not like they eat much but they snack..ALL OF THE TIME!

I am just going to throw this out there....do you think it will be too uppity (sp?) this week. I mean $1000 per night is a lot of money and I do not want to be around a bunch of uptight people the entire time but then again I do not want to be down with the SL food horders either. What to do...What to do:confused3

We are frequent RPC stayers and I promise we aren't uppity! We'll be there the week before Christmas! We've been there up til Dec. 23rd because we like to spend Christmas at home with our family - just too many traditions to pass up for us. I'm sure it is lovely ,though. I see what you're saying about the $1000 price tag that people must have a decent amount of money to afford that price tag.
Honestly, most RPC guests are just like you and me - wanting to treat their family to a relaxing, fun vacation! :)

Everything she said~me too! I am shaking my head because we had the chance to book AAA for that time...I dont know if it is available anymore. Plus can we sleep 5? AHHHHHHHHH!! Oh well, if it isn't to be then it isn't....it will still be nice to be at GF SL!:goodvibes
Now if I could just find airfare! (not to keep harping on this issue)

Dawn...you will LOVE it. :) I feel bad for saying anything, but Tracy posted someting on the GF thread re SL and I commented and then it went south over there.....SL is VERY nice. I just have heard there is a difference. :confused3 Will you notice?? Most likely not. No worries. Next time you have a choice, though...go with RPC! ESPECIALLY on some one else's dime. (Disney dime, that is;) )

:)

Hello peeps
I see you guys are discussing RPC vs SL
I think the biggest difference is the space. The main building has tons of it and also the music and a great staff. The food is same now in both buildings and I have stayed SL a couple times and they have some great CMs over there as well. Its just smaller and tougher to eat in the morning as the tables fill up quickly. I would stay in either. The RPC is also more $$.

Maybe if I tell dh Kelly Rippa is going to be in RPC...then he might go for it.

I never usually tell him anything about our vacation costs but this time I did tell him the cost between SL and GV and he wanted to change to GV but after we thought about it we decided to upgrade to SL. One thing I like about the Poly over the other resorts like the WL is the lodges or longhouses. I know other people do not like them but I like the quick walk out the door and you are at the pool. I seemed to walk around forever in the WL.

I am a HUGE Xmas person. I start listening to Xmas music as soon as November 1 hits...so I know I would love the music etc in RPC.

So how far is it from RPC out to the pool or to the monorail??

You guys know the money difference.....I am taking it most of you would choose RPC. There must be something special about it since it costs more and everyone loves it.

By the way Channing...I read the GF thread. You cannot say anything right on that thing.:confused3

what happened on the GF thread now. UGH!! I am starting a new one tomorrow. I have been dowloading and moving pics all day. Its gonna look awesome.

Back to RPC the main building has the monorail connected right to it and the buses are out front. Both pools are so close to main building you will be fine.

Can we sleep 5???

Can we sleep 5???

Yes, in just about every GF room. Most have 2 queens and the daybed.

OK...so I just went to my dryer...that load should have been DONE...it's still soppy damp. I am so not a happy camper here now. Not sure what I did wrong...PLUS the button was lit up for a loud buzz/beep (not sure because I never heard it) at the finish of the drying and it was totally quiet.:guilty: So....put the clothes on again for another 45 minutes. I thought these were supposed to be FAST w/D. That load took me so far 50 min for the wash and then 45 for the dry and it is needing another 45....that seems really sh**ty. I am feeling like maybe I got some lemons?? :headache:

I am sure I will survive SL this time :rotfl:
<was going to add a snarky comment about a less than perfect value resort but didnt want to cause trouble... you know me :scared: >

I like the security of the door locks.... a glass of wine to bring back to my room at night wouldn't be a bad thing :thumbsup2

I think we will have a great time no matter where we are at the GF. If nothing else I can call my TA and scream and yell until I get my way :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Vanessa!!! If you are here....I need some W/D help & advice!!! Mine seems to be awful!!!:sad1: :guilty: :headache:  My neighbor said I'd have no problem catching up with my laundry since these are large and they will also dry so quickly....come on....I haven't done ONE load yet. It's been an hour and a half +.....I am getting panicky.

What the heck did you do? I did not say you could do ALL of your laundry in one load.

OK.....the normal cycle on wash is 50 minutes with a 40 minute dry time. (but remember you should be able to do twice as much) I fill my entire washer with clothes.

Now if you are doing bulky bedding or jeans....you need to turn your dryer knob that.

Just exactly what are you washing. I never usually have to dry a load more than once. The only thing I have ever had problems with is a very bulky comforter.

I figured out my plan..FINALLY... I am going to REbook for the GV and use the extra money to fly channing down and then she can kiss butt and get me into RPC :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

My plan is to let you try it first! If it stinks....I am sure you will let us all know. Cannot imagine you keeping anything in!

Did you check to see that they have protein bars since hubby is not going to be along:rolleyes1

I didn't even fill that first load up as much as I did the load that's in there now!!! I am washing whites/light colors!!!! Not a single pair of jeans...mostly socks, undies, tees, and some PJs.....there is one towel. I kind of freaked when I saw that 50 min on the washer....my old one took 35 min. THEN I tried the "timed dry" and I put it on the highest heat...figuring taht would be a good thing. Well, after 45 min the stuff is still SUPER DAMP. Maybe the washer didn't spin it out well enough because it felt pretty soggy when I put it into the dryer. :sad2: That is one thing my neighbor said (she has front loaders, but not these same ones) she said the washer would spin out the water so much better and that would decrease the dry time. Maybe I need to use "extended spin"? That just doesn't seem right.........If you could SEE the laundry I have you'd understand my situation.:rotfl: :rotfl:

I just can't believe it's after 2 and I don't have one load done to put away.:guilty:

I did use Tide HE detergent, too.

Channing-Did you figure it out?
NEVER use anything but the HE stuff from Tide (or anything else they make for frontloaders) It will spin that suds out for hours.

I have used Express Wash before also for smaller stuff. I think it runs about 35 minutes.

Also- it should adjust itself or at least I know the dryer does

I just did a second spin on teh load that's in the washer now to see if maybe that will cut down on it's dry time....that is a nice option but that adds 11 minutes...I am going for speed here!! The dryer still has about 10 min at this point on my first load. I don't know....the first time thru I used the timed cycle...the second time I set it on "casual"....which turned out to be another 45 or maybe 40 min, I think.....still waiting. I found myself just standing there like a dork, watching them spin......kind of mesmerizing....:rotfl:

It just seems to take sooooo long. So that is about an hour and a half/load....I don't know how I am gonna deal with that. I am running low on patience....I know DS is going to come home and want to throw a load of his in....sorry bud....back of the line of baskets.:sad2:

MY advice...do not touch anything. Put it in the washer and adjust to what you have in there. Then do the drying the same way. It has the sensor adjust on there and it can tell if they are wet, damp or dry and will adjust for the amount of moisture in the clothes.

Express wash does cut down on time but I have not used it much. See what the book says about that.

Now remember...you are putting twice the amount of laundry in and you are saving on water and electricity in case you are trying to save the world. Your gonna love them.

I picked RPC for our August trip because I am as stuck-up as they come and I thought it would be oh-so loverlee to be among my equals and away from the lowly commoners. :snooty: :snooty:

Yeah, right.

OK, so that's not us. Why I DID pick RPC is because of all the reasons that Kelly mentioned -- space and convenience -- and the fact that it represents the most relaxing atmosphere of any of the WDW resorts. After hours in the park with the masses, I want to be able to get away from it all for a few hours in the afternoon and at night. I thought RPC was the best choice for that.

As for the price -- I'm not sure why everyone (not on this thread, but on other threads I've read) scoffs how GF / deluxes are so not worth the price for a so-called "luxury" resort. Have they tried pricing hotels anywhere else? It's expensive everywhere, people. I'm looking at a Fourth of July weekend trip to Williamsburg, VA for my family and even the freakin' Super 8 is pricing out at $90 per night. Super 8! For reals? Another option is to go into Washington DC for the weekend (we live in the 'burbs) and the Sofitel is $300 per night and the Mandarin Oriental is almost $500. And that's NOT concierge. And at the Sofitel, we'll need to book two rooms since the maximum occupancy is 3 in one room. Even the Embassy Suites in DC is pricing out at $339 per night, and don't even get me started on the Four Seasons (starting at $750 per night for a standard room with no view). And these prices are not jacked up for the holiday weekend -- they're the usual "weekend special" rates. I'm starting to think that the GF is not such a bad deal after all. :rolleyes1
