Having a GRAND time - The Official GF Chat Thread PART 3

Good afternoon all!!!! Boy is it HOT out.....just over 90 . And tomorrow it's only supposed to be low 70's....go figure . But it will nice ;).

Wishes - Hope your day is fun shopping with your dd :goodvibes. You'll have to tell us how your ds's first day of HS went ;). I'm sure he loved it!!!

herecomesthesun - Can't wait to see your pics....hope you have lots :thumbsup2.

skjj2009 - We just LOVE Maggiano's......we always eat way toooo much.....but it's awesome :woohoo: :woohoo:. Maybe your cousin lives a little further north than I'm thinking :confused3. If so, he would be a little farther away, but not that much farther....small world :upsidedow. Sorry to hear you're not feeling well . Those summer colds stink :headache:. I hope you feel better soon :flower3:.

Mandy - Glad to hear Brook is doing ok and that their house didn't sustain too much damage.

BlueSkies - I told my two boys they can't go away to college because I would never make it with them being away from home.....so they both have to go to college at home :rotfl: :rotfl:. And yes, July will be our FIRST stay at the GF . I'm really worried, though because I know I won't want to stay anywhere else after that .

Chan - Love the pics......you've got great looking kids :). Sorry dh is sick . Hope he feels better soon :flower3:.

Hi everyone --

We returned on Sunday night from eight nights in Orlando, six of which were spent at the GF. We loved the hotel and the staff, especially the concierges in the RPC. It was a lovely stay for us.

Chan - I miss that Chicago skyline. It is my favorite city. I went to college there, and then worked there for a year or so after graduation. I lived right on the Gold Coast -- just a couple of blocks from Navy Pier, and very close to Niketown and the Sony store on Michigan Avenue. I loved it! Thanks for posting the pic. Your kids look so grown-up. You've a great-looking family.

Kelly - Hope you are feeling better. Our girls started getting the sniffles and coughing towards the end of the trip, and since today was the first day of school, I doused them with medicine to make sure they got better. ;) They are fine now, but of course, now MY throat is sore and I'm getting the sniffles. Wouldn't you just know it.

Glad to hear Brooke and Andrea are safe and doing well.

I'll try to post pics later this week. I like to include people (mostly my kids) in the pictures, so they may not be of interest to anyone but me, but I'll try to find some interesting / fun ones.

Linda

Thank you sooo much for the pep talk.

DS is home and really doesn't have too much to say. Don't you love that? Every answer to every question is "I don't know"!!

Information is slowly creeping out!!! He doesn't go back until Friday.

Channing - Sportsjacket and tie and part of the uniform. VERY STRICK SCHOOL!!! We went for parent orientation they tell you "give us your boys and well turn them into men". Everyone who attends this school really loves it, it BOYS ONLY!!

Your son looks like a great kid!!! All of your kids look great in that picture. I noticed Lucy's flipflops!!:goodvibes

DD and I shopped till we dropped, the mall was so empty and it was great. She even let the lady at the Bobbi Brown counter pick a lipgloss for her. Now I am in trouble!!!

Mandy - thanks again for the update.

Linda - Welcome Home!!

Thanks for the well wishes...I think I'm getting worse as the day drags on :(

Channing...love the pictures and our skyline is beautiful...I take for granted just how close I am to an amazing big city.

Mickeynut...I always eat too much at Maggianos...how can you not the food is outstanding! If you are coming down 30 from Illinois you make a left onto 250W and he lives about 10 minutes down the road in a new subdivision. I did get cheap gas at the one family express we encountered so that was a bouns!

Everyone have a great day...I don't know how much I'll be on the rest of the day...I need to sleep this off :(
With preschool starting we are going to be extremely busy now. gone almost every day with something...my only 'sleep in' day will be Thursday...I know I'll be livng for it each week :rotfl:

Kristen There are actually pills on the market that are supposed to boost your immunity when you fly ( or something like that...) to keep people from getting sick from that awful air...

I do keep my air vent closed...as if it helps:rotfl: I'm still breathing the air as everyone else...

Ah yes Airborne. I have it. And I always take it just before we get in the limo on the way to the airport. Problem is that I ALWAYS leave it on the kitchen counter so I don't have it to take for the plane ride home! :lmao:

YUK!!! I hate it when people cough around me...just a little germophobia:rotfl:

:lmao: At least you take it before you leave-no fun being sick during the trip...

Maybe we should try wearing those white surgical masks when we fly (kinda like Michael Jackson:rotfl2: )

Now I know exactly where you're talking about.....he's only about 15 minutes away :goodvibes. DH and both ds' rode dirtbikes at a place on 250 a few years ago before the guy sold his property :sad2:. What's the name of the subdivision (I know just where he is although I'm not familiar with the subdivision that went in )?

I hope you have gotten some rest today and start feeling better :flower3:.

What does everyone think of the GF at Christmas???

smartguy - never been there during Christmas but would love to go, maybe a few days after Thanksgiving.

I was asking about you earlier on this thread, never saw you on our chatty GF thread before, other then starting the new thread have been around before? I miss alot around here, I don't get to come on as often as I would like, so there is a good chance I've missed you. BTW Welcome!!!

What does everyone think of the GF at Christmas???

Although we've never stayed at the GF (yet), we have visited many times, including December 2003....at which time the GF was gorgeous all decorated for Christmas :santa:. The gingerbread house was awesome :). After our July trip, we are going to try and go back in December 2009 and are hoping to stay at the Grand to really experience the holidays there :santa:.

Never been...but cannot wait to experience it!:santa:

I just noticed you are going to be at the GF as well as BCV during Christmas. We stayed at the BC when we went in December 2003 and that resort is beautifully decorated as well :santa:. Our favorites at Christmas time are the WL, BC, and GF :).....not to mention all the great decorations all around the parks as well as DTD.....you are going to have a GREAT time :santa: :santa:. I have been wanting to go back for the Christmas decorations and festivities, so hopefully we'll make it back in December 2009 . Be sure to come back and post lots of pics :thumbsup2. I'm getting excited for you just thinking of all the awesome things to see and do during the holidays :cool1: :cool1:.

Hey all you sickies..... Hope you feel better soon..nothing worse than a cold in the summer!

Skjj2009...the DuPage Childrens Museum here in Naperville is really great...my kids when they were little went a few times. LOVE Maggiano's mmmmmmm Im hungry for some now!

Hey Shel...hows work???? No more of the GF high life..its back to the grind :rotfl:

Night gals...im pooped!

Mickeynut We have gone right after Thanksgiving (they begin to decorate that very night) So when you wake up the next day the resort is incredibly decorated! (right down to the poinsetta planted in the courtyard )

Except for the gingerbread house-that takes some time. Its fun to watch it go up (and it smells so yummy:) )

Supersmart I'm sure it gets even better the closer you get to Christmas ( I think there are carolers singing in the evenings )

It really is magical:santa:

I did nap for about 30 mins and then my phone rang  Never fails when I decide to take an afternoon nap the phone is always ringing. Tomorrow dd starts school so up early and out of the house for the morning. Not looking forward to going out :(
