Lesley-We are going to both Jikos and Boma's for dinner in 2 weeks with the kids, so I will give you a report. Also, we are staying at AKL also in Jan, and they said if our savannah room is blocked from the animals, they will not charge for that room type. We are DVC, so they will credit us our points. On the AKL board, they have been saying they are doing a good job with the construction and it has not been too compromising to the views or noise situation. We tried to get a concierge room, but were booked. Maybe next time:)

I wanted to let you all know that Disney store is having 40% off of sale prices right now. I have a cart full ordered online, but of course the site is not working now. Disney sure needs to work on their online capacity. Anyways, some really great deals. Feel free to PM me if you need more info.

Vanessa Hope your conference is going well. I know you are at loss not having your DIS fix during the day. I am checking on the Chicago trip, I have to make sure G-ma can watch kids. I feel bad, since I am going there Sat. What are the plan? Thanks for inviting me.

I am so excited there are so many moms of 4 on this board. I think I am crazy at times, but I seem to meet someone like me all the time anymore. I just wish I could have a laundry maid to help me keep up. It is my pet peeve of so many in the FAM. Anyone out there have any great tips to stay on top of it???:confused3

 SYTYCD is on tonight and my TIVO is set. We were away last week and I forgot to set for the result show. Was it a surprise who was kicked off? They are all so good. My favs at this point would have to be Carrington and Twitch. It is my escape from reality time.

Can anyone tell me how to use the multiquote function? I would love to use that.

Well, I am off to work:sad: Talk to you all later!! 15 days till my Disney getaway, but who's counting?? Evie:goodvibes

We leave in 13 days!!!

multiquote function is little box on the right hand side next to quote, after you hit just choose all the posts you need to quote on. Then at the last one hit quote not multiquote and you will see them all in your reply box.

I hope I explained that well, I just learned not to long ago!!

I love Twitch and Carrington too. I also love that couple that the girl almost didn't make it, they didn't like that she was going to give up and they almost chose her friend. I can't remember her name!!

Hello! I know there are quite a number of Chicago area gals on this thread, so if you don't mind the hijack, this Canadian has a question or two...

My sister and I are planning to take my mother for a girls' trip to Chicago in September, assuming I can free myself up. I was hoping for more of a boutique hotel, but one that is central to places like the Art Institute, some good shopping and dining. We'd like someplace nice, but not way over the top. I wouldn't say money's not an object at all, because we do want to make this a special trip. Our mother is 80 and her health is failing, so we know she won't be travelling much in the future. I'd love to have great service, and the ability to either have a suite w separate bedroom or we'll get 2 rooms.

My sister is a real foodie, and I'm sure she's love to have at least 1 specatcular meal. My mother won't want anything too outrageously fancy, but a place where she feels comfortable too.

Does anyone have any suggestions...about boutique hotels or anything else?

Thanks very much!

Alison

Michigan Ave and River North Areas are good places to stay in a hotel....quite a few in those areas depends on how much you are willing to pay.
I LOVE the ART INSTITUTE!:lovestruc You will love the Mag Mile so much shopping! Dining is everywhere around there also again depends on what you are looking for!!

Installing a ductless central air-conditioning system which allows you to vary room temperatures in different rooms can cut your utility bills and improve your comfort over a standard system. There is no need to keep bedrooms very cool during the day or the living or dining rooms cool overnight.

A ductless system works in a similar manner to a standard ducted central air conditioner. There is a small compressor unit located outdoors on the ground or mounted against a wall.

Instead of having pipes with the cooling refrigerant connected to the heat pump or furnace blower duct system in the utility room, attic or basement, they are attached to a mini-cooling blower unit in a room(s). Only a three-inch-diameter hole needs to be drilled through the wall for the pipes.

The individual indoor blower units can be mounted on the ceiling or high on a wall. They are typically only about three feet long, one foot high and very shallow so they are not readily noticeable. Some other designs can be recessed into the ceiling or hidden away in a corner near the ceiling.

These indoor blower units are not noisy like window air conditioners because the compressor is located far away outdoors.

A dual- or three-zone system should adequately cool most homes. This is similar to having two or three separate small central air conditioners, each with its own adjustable thermostat. Although cool air naturally circulates throughout all the rooms in your home, you still can cool some areas more than others to realize savings from zone cooling.[/B]

I actually have to get 3 units installed which will cover 8 rooms and have 6 wall units. Each wall unit can be set at a different temp which is great when some of like it freezing and others just like it cool. lol

here is a picture showing one vent with one unit. The perspective is off though because the wall unit would be much smaller in relation to that guy. I have one unit covering the living room/dining room and kitchen. Another unit going to 2 bedrooms and a third unit going to the other 3 bedrooms.

We have this in our home in the Poconos, never heard of it before either. We have two of them for the whole 1,500 sq ft house, cools off the whole place and the bonus is it also heats it in the winter. Apparently in the Poconos, this is what every one has, we never knew about them before. It's commonly referred to as a Split System or Split Unit.

You'll like it. It cools the rooms fast and I love the remote control. You can adjust the vents by it.

Annette, we can watch the Macy's fireworks from our building's roof, unfortunately, we were in the Poconos and missed them. We watched our community's fireworks on our boat in the lake. Not as elaborate as Macy's but nice.

Channing: Happy birthday! I really loved the cabana cm we had. She was wonderful and really pampered our entire family. Glad your enjoying it!

Lesley: Lots of luck with a newborn in WDW!! We went in Nov when DS1 was 6 months old and it wasn't easy. I did more shopping then ever!!

I've been busy enjoying the summer with the boys before DS4 starts camp next month.

We've got one unit up and running. :thumbsup2

I like the idea about using it for heat too. I wonder if that would be a different model or do you just set the temperature high. :confused3
Would be nice not to heat every room in the house when not needed.

Wow, I don't know. I think they all do both that's why it's called a "split system". I'm guessing, I could be wrong. But for ours we just increase the temperature and it's in heat mode.

Glad you finally have some relief, it's such a hot muggy day here in NYC.

I believe when you look up the word "pesky" in the dictionary, you will find a picture of Manny Ramirez. Geesh. Will my Twins get it done today????

(They have been two very entertaining games I must say- I just didn't like the outcome!)

Here's to a better day in Boston for my Twins! Even if it will be in the 90s!:scared1:

Sorry, Manny and company took care of business.:yay: And the Yankees took care of the Rays.:)

Ladies, I have a quick question, if we got the 40% off our room code, can we still purchase the Dining Plan? thanks!

Maybe.

Call Disney and ask. Some codes YES, others NO. Only the all knowing, all seeing OZ can help :)

I had a 40% post card that could be booked with dining, but someone else was told no a week later. It makes no sense but it is worth a call.

My DH just got off the phone with a man cast member. DH made the final payment and wanted to add the DPlan. The CM first said because there was a pin attached no, but came back on and said yes. I posted my question while my DH was on hold.:rotfl: hoping someone would answer before he came back on. :rotfl: I'm happy now. I just think its easier when we have the Dplan. Thanks for the quick reply Shell.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Ok all of you Tea people.

I booked Lily's 4th Bday party at a Tea Room. We have a private garden area and I am taking 9 little girls.

They are serving a 3 tier meal with grilled cheese, fruit and peanut butter pie. I am having a floral basket and balloons delivered and also I ordered fabric tea party bags off of Ebay and I am going to fill them with treats and hopefully a little tea set.

They said I could bring in games and music if I liked. Any ideas?

I have never done tea (not all fancy like you GF gals)

Channing~ I hope you are reading this. You are at the GF- go check out that tea room!

Ideas anyone :confused3

Hey, V that sounds ADORABLE!!! I am so not into tea haha...BUT we (on our way traipsing thru the gf lobby to the pool) saw about 10 girls having a bday party in the lobby! they must have come from tea iswhat I am thinking...they were all dressed up and looking like princesses (not disney ones, just sweet girly ones) and had chairs all in a circle and presents. I thought WHAT FUN to have a GF bday party!

I have had NO desire for tea inthe GF tea room lol. NONE...so the only time i was there was for the princess tea party with my girls. It was cute.

Channing :)

My guys are doing the Keys to the Kingdom tour today! I will let ya all know what they think!

Gotta run and get myself dressed and moving,

talk to ya later
:goodvibes

Mare - good to hear from you!!!

Channing - I am waiting for Natalie to be old enough to do all that walking. I heard it long. So let me know how Lucy and Jojo do. Maybe next year!!

Morning Ladies~ :surfweb:
My internet connection has been crappy at night again, it was doing really good but then with all the rain we have had it has been bad again. I miss the evening chats!

Chan I really want to do that tour! I think when DH and I go ALONE for our anniversary we will do it or the segway tour! Can't wait to hear what they think!

... The CM first said because there was a pin attached no, but came back on and said yes. ...
That seems to be the norm, um yes, um, no, um, ok, um.... :)
I am so glad you got your dining plan and I agree..it is the best for us too! I love the ddp.

I have no ideas, but that sounds like such a cute party!! Emily wants a tea party with friends but since we're gone for her b-day I told her we'll do one later in the fall...once school starts again and it is cool enough in the house to have a party.

Good Morning Cheeseballs!!!!
cheeseballs...little orange, finger staining balls of crunchy cheesy goodness!!! I am low-carbing again and *thought* of a cheese ball is makine me drool.
