Hey guys, I'm gonna ask this here because I know if I ask it on the main board I'll get flamed!

On the rides at Disney, the ones that say pregnant women should not ride. Is that a rule or a suggestion?

I went to Hershey Park when I was almost 6 months pregnant and rode some rides with warnings and skipped others. I was not really showing yet so they did not stop me, any bigger and they might have?!?

To me it was common sense; the upside-down high-speed coaster is a BAD pregnancy idea. The kiddie coaster (with warnings too) was ok for me. The ferris wheel had warnings, but I rode that. Same with the skyway.

I am sure the park puts some warnings to cover their butts, not because there is a real danger to a normal pregnancy.

That being said, if you are worried or not comfortable, don't ride. And know that if you do ride they will not be responsible if something happens.

At disney I personally would skip at least: Everest, Space Mtn, Splash Mtn, Mission space, rock-n coaster, tower of terror and maybe skip Khali river and big thunder mtn. But that's just me.

Thanks for the info! I will do Kali river and splash mountain.... DEFINITELY NOT rock n roller coaster, space mtn, MAYBE big thunder mtn. I am not familiar with the other rides that you mentioned but I will look them up and see what they look like! I just won't do any big shaking rides or big roller coasters. water rides and kiddie coasters are okay with me.

I ask because I could pass for not being pregnant. I don't have a huge belly yet. :)

Me again....

Wow...SWA is really messing with their flights & I am not sure what that means..:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 ..last night I checked on a whim to see what the fares are for my July flight to MCO....well I wound up changing my flight AGAIN - I have the same day and time but saved another $100 because the fare dropped to $99 outbound. THEN the Saturday return I have booked was showing Not AVAILABLE....TODAY it IS available...but for $5 more pp than I paid.....I am waiting for the SUnday return fares to drop and then maybe stay at the GF one more night. DH said do what I want. Well, you all know what I want.:rotfl: :rotfl: I just feel bad because I know how much it costs and he doesn't. :rotfl: :rotfl: He doesn't ask though, either. Men. (sorry Mike;) )

I just got back from Lucy's IEP meeting. It was finalized that she is losing the wonderful vision itinerant that has been so good to her for the past two years. WE had to get down and dirty in an ugly month long fight to keep her for this transition to 6th grade year but we did it and we won.:goodvibes Now the time is up...somebody new. I keep thinking I want to get this lady something FABULOUS for a gift but I dont know what. :( I always wind up gettting her a book store or JoAnne gift card...boring. But I know she likes that stuff. Last year....she made Lucy this BEAUTIFUL framed poem and typed it out so pretty and also in Braille.....It was just sooo touching....and I gave a dumb gift card.:rotfl: :rotfl: LOSER

I hope it was okay and I am sure that you can find something cute to send her.:hyper:

I take it as a suggestion....I think you just have to use common sense and most people don't have much anymore....Disney is doing a CYA.

UGh...I need something SPECTACULAR
.:rotfl: :rotfl:

MY connection went bye bye for a while. It's NASTY here!!! Man...what would I do w/out internet???!?!?!!? :scared1: :scared1:

Chan

:rotfl2: Well, Mike...you are different because you're HERE!!!:rotfl: :thumbsup2 (see...I said "Sorry, Mike" - sorry you have to be grouped into that MAN category but there's no helping it:rotfl: )

My husband does not understand my WDW obsession or my DIS & planning obsessions (but at least he really likes the GF - so he's OK:) )....he has a "Do what you want - whatever..." , too busy to talk about vacation attitude until he gets the bill.:rotfl:

Channing :goodvibes

Channing, I usually get my boys teachers gift cards towards some really nice restaurants near us. They seem to appreciate them alot. :thumbsup2

I have to tell someone what I just read on the food picture thread. Someone was actually asking about bringing baggies to a WDW buffet! :confused3 Now I have heard everything.:rotfl2:

Chan I can commiserate with ya on the IEP...just when we get someone good they change case managers or support teachers on us :furious:
Here are some ideas that i have done in the past...breakfast like from corner bakery with a coffee bar (this is when I did the whole team), gift cert to bookstores are always appreciated, plus I always write a letter and copy to Principal and District so they can put it in their file
Hope that helps :thumbsup2

:rotfl: :rotfl: That is funny!! I need to see that thread. :rotfl: BUt we weren't far from that either...last trip when we ate at Ohana it was NASTY and we usually love that place...it was gross though...I hardly ate a thing but what I did eat made me feel pukey...but my absolute FAVORITE thing is that banana's foster bread pudding they serve for dessert....that is SO GOOD but I couldn't fit any in feeling all icky like I did...so I asked the waitress if she had something to put it in & we could take it to go..:rotfl2: I knew as soon as I walked out of there I'd be able to fit it in!!! She said no it's against their policy ...come on we paid for it and didn't touch it...we hardly put a dent in any of the food...something did not sit well with us plus we wanted to share it with our GF concierge friends.....we told them what happened and how dinner there was nasty this time and they took it off our bill....we were just laughing about the whole thing but they insisted. And ya...as soon as I got on the monorail I found room for that yummy dessert.:(

THanks, Dawn...this lady has been a GODSEND to us. SHe is wonderful and helped Lucy sooo much and even been such a friend & support system to her. I am so sad she has to leave us....they have a rule. They only let an itinerant work with a child for no more than two years. Then they make them move on. They assign them somewhere else w/diff kids. Lucy was heartbroken last spring...they told her the LAST day of school. All along, due to her having to change schools etc. they let everybody belive thre would be no change and then they dropped the bomb the last day. We fought thru to the middle of summer and had to be super nasty. UGLY nasty. Everybody wrote letters and called, teachers, principals, superintendent...it was a dirty battle. We won though. It is sad they don't want the itinerents to develop too close a relationship with the kids....it makes little sense. Lucy was liek "What about Anne Sullivan?" We are ready though, this time because we knew it was coming. :(

Here's a question for you ladies... what do you use to carry stuff around at the parks? A backpack? a purse? I am looking for a super small purse thingie for essentials. Any suggestions?

I always used to bring a Coach swingpack...little cross body bag. That was perfect for me. Now I am more into Vera Bradley so I always bring a variety of her Hipsters. I LOVE them...they are lightweight and perfect size for all my essentials & a bit larger than the Coach swingpacks. Sometimes I just bring my wonderful backpack with tons of crap in it (Kelly knows:rotfl: ) because it gets hard to downsize and I am such a dork I always buy Disney keyrings and that backpack weighs a ton due to all my keyrings. WE also have Pal Mickey hanging on there with a carabiner clip. They are conversation pieces haha...:rotfl: (those are basically the only souvies I buy myself!)

That is the most ridiculous rule..Who the H**L makes up that crap???? I thought it was about the students..obviously not!

Morning Ladies...

Arrrrr I have been up since 6am with a sick son:sick: ..no sleeping in today:worried: He has the stomach flu since Thurs night, didnt go to school yesterday and now had to cancel 3 umping games today. I felt horrible calling the coordinator to tell her he couldn't ump today, cause now she has to scramble and he is out $60!

It is a beautiful day here in Chicago after yesterday's horrible weather...Vanessa I hope your DH gets his planting done:thumbsup2

have good day :clown: (this is for you gf gals hehe)

Good morning!

Dawn~ Sorry to hear about your son being sick. The stomach flu in warm weather is the worst. Hope he feels better soon.

We had a TON of rain last night. It was horrible. I was driving to the recital rehearsal and it just poured buckets. They had streets shut down and everything. We were soaking wet by the time we got there. What a crappy night.

DH is definately out of the field for a few days. Is this ever going to end??? I have to say this has been the worst winter/spring that I can remember.

The sun is out today but pretty muggy out there.

Hope you all have a great day!

Lesly I don't feel comfy giving you advice on what to ride and not to ride that is up to you. But I do feel like you should NOT EVER go on mission space in any stage of pregnancy. It simulates the pressure you feel if you were to take of in a space shuttle and it it NOT good on the baby, I honestly think it could cause a miscarriage. They make you feel that but spinning you extremely fast and it causes a lot of pressure in your chest and stomach. You gotta do what you fell comfy with on the other rides. I do know for a fact that they won't stop you even if you are visibly pregnant and choose to ride something. A lady got on EE and they asked her if she was aware of the warning and she said yes and they were like as long as you understand we do not suggest it.

Ooooh Mandy, thanks for the info! I didn't even know what Mission Space was! I definitely will NOT be going on that ride! From looking at the list, I really only would like to go on Splash Mountain. None of us will be going on Space Mountain or any of the big roller coasters (except maybe Big Thunder Mtn).

I am definitely not the type of person to ignore warnings, I just think that some of these "warnings" are more to CYA than the fact that it is actually dangerous. I am a laid-back mommy but don't want to do anything to jeopardize my child's life (like Mission Space!)
