The only vaccuum I have is my dustbuster :rotfl: . Seriously.

We have ALL real hardwood, except in the kitchen and baths where we have tile. I hate it in winter, it is SO COLD that it makes that first step out of bed horrible (DF dosen't want ANy rugs in the house  ), but it is nice in the summer.

Along the same train of thought, has anyone gotten/used that steam mop? It looks like it would work great for my floors but I don't know

the 66 dollar ding was from MHT (manchester, NH) to Orlando and back!
I thought the days of low dings like that were gone but I will take it! Too bad I cant go in the summer...

LOL...I missed this post...Just saw Kelly's!!!!!! AND PANICKED!!!!

My Dings have been kind of crummy....the last one was a couple days ago to MCO in July but was $94 and only included MTW flights on the last flights of the days to arrive very late in MCO.

GARADA!! Hello! Well....I don't even remember what vacuum I have. Not a great one, haha....I was SO MAD when my vacuum konked out last fall and we had to buy a new one. They just do not last. I THINK I have a Bissel. It's ok...there is no way I wanted to spend $500 on a stupid Dyson. I have a huge hairy dog so that's why I have vacuum issues, but I don't have enough faith in a Dyson to spend that much money. I would rather have to replace a $180 vacuum every couple years. It has the detachable cannister for easy on the stairs. I like it fine. The Dysons actually looked very plasticky and cheapy to me. :confused3

Chan:)

of both the GF thread and the Grand Time thread. I just rarely post on the DIS and feel a bit awkward jumping in here since our GF stay is still over a year away.

But, your posts have provided insight, info and entertainment, not to mention a make-up that finally works for me :)

So given your collective good taste in cosmetics and vacations - I am hoping to chat about...vacuums! I would love to find out what vacuums you all have?

I have seen vacuums with prices that rival one night in peak season at the GF!

WELCOME

Mr. Mike: Sorry to scare the BLEEP out of you, but my DH is a bad flyer. He's nervous now more than ever. Post 9/11 and with kids. He hates flying with the kids, hates the idea of our "entire family on board".
Haha I was just joking;
I know how he feels; I feel the same way when all of us are on a flight.
I look at everybody with suspicion...:magnify:
And while I wouldn't be concerned about your passport he is correct.. you would think someone would at least ask. Then again maybe spelling errors are more common than we think.:confused3

I have hardwood floors throughout our apartment with ceramic tile in the kitchen and bathrooms. I have a large area rug in our living room and another large area rug in the boys room. Both are thick wool. At our country house in the Poconos, we also have hardwood floors and tile with one large area rug in the living room and a few small ones throughout the house.

Here in the city, I used to have a Hoover Windtunnel which I hated. Seriously, when I turned the power button on it sounded like the Concorde taking off! It was LOUD. The belt broke and instead of just buying a new belt I got a new vacuum. The Eureka Optima green machine with the circle handle they sell at Bed Bath Beyond for $59. I love it. It's small, convenient and does the job. I also have the Cone dustbuster. I love that and use it more than anything. DS1 is a messy eater. I'm always chasing after him with the Cone. I've recommended the Eureka Optima to others and everyone who doesn't have wall to wall carpets loves it. It's the perfect area rug vacuum.

In the Poconos, I have a Walmart cheapo I think Dirt Devil vacuum that is okay. It was under $25. We also just bought a Dirt Devil hand vacuum for $15 again, it's not a dustbuster but does the job.

At the CR, the DCL check in desk, the CM didn't notice the name difference on my passport and DH gave her a word or two! Here you specifically have to check in to verify your passport and she didn't catch it! Mind you, you don't check in again on the ship. Your WDW room key becomes your DCL key. You walk directly on the ship passing the check in desks when you do the land/sea package. Talk about security! It's so scary!

They should never assume it's a misprint. Who would travel with a misprint on their passport??? They should always ask and verify. They never do. He always says "are you sure her name matches??" "Look at it again" Then we laugh, then he drills them on their security and what if a terrorist made a misprint and they'd miss it. He goes all 9/11 on them.:scared1:

Evening or Morning Gals...whew you gals were chatty today!

DD loves her Reefs. We wear Rainbows a lot down here but DH actually had a hard time breaking his in, but the kids and I never have problems! Once his were broken in though, thats all he wanted to wear. My favorite are Eliza B.s, DD,too! I wear them all the time but they aren't known for their comfort- theres not a lot of cushion to them like Crocs. I guess I'm used to them but I'm probably doing bad things to my feet.

Dawn did I see that you got the Crocs Capri Canvas? I keep pulling them up to look at hem on Shoebuy. They are cute and don't look like Crocs! The only thing that worried me was the white bottom! Mine will turn black fast, I'm hard on shoes!

I got the black and white ones..Okay i hope they are good I am so not a crocs person...let me know what you think!

This Florida girls owns 30 pairs pairs of flip flops :rotfl: We have a store that sells cute boutique sandals for like 10 bucks and i go crazy in there! They are so fun with cute stuff on them or simple metallics that are so great in the summer! I wear them every wear, even church and then put in my heals right before I go on stage!

My fave Disney shoe is my Capri crocs and my Reefs! I am going to my Crocs store to get some of the new canvas capri's! I think I am getting the black on black ones.

FYI: the boutique I get my crocs at tell all there customers to use original Armor All to clean them. It works well I use it all the time! Just keep it off the bed of the shoe or you may get hurt!

Mandy this is good to know! Let me know what you think about the canvas capris!

Work on Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa continues as the entire pool area is slated to be refurbished over the next week or so. In addition, the now delayed new flooring for the main building will be arriving in September and should be in place before the holiday season.

Hey Vanessa! uck, I woke up at 5:30 am to thunder and it's dark and ugly out there now. I hope your DH can get that planting done. :wizard: WTH with this weather?!? :furious: Good luck with the recital - I hope it's fun for all.:goodvibes We have our recital all next weekend. I have to take JOjo out of school early Tues for a total dress rehearsal, and then again Friday for an evening performance and then she is in the Saturday afternoon show, too. She does hip hop. This will be my easy year though....last year she was in two shows and Lucy was in two tap shows. Next year Jo is taking Jazz and ballet. ugh...that's gonna be pretty.:rotfl: And...the first year we did this (been doing it since Lu was in kgarden) I was kind of shocked that we had to BUY tickets....it's in a nice theater, but it adds up when you have kids in several shows.....This year it's $15/ticket. Maybe that's just me and my budgeting ways but I thought it was weird...that's how it goes though.

Dawn, that's great about the capris! I hope you like them. I have never tried those on or seen them in person but they look more like regular shoes than reg Crocs do. My Mary Janes are super comfy.

I am probably the only person in the world that hasn't seen one episode of LOST. From seeing the previews/commercials for it before it started I really wanted to watch it but then we wound up having soccer during that time and never got to see it. I am bad abotu the VCR and DVR.....getting better though.

Evening or Morning Gals...whew you gals were chatty today!

Again....only person in the world that never saw ONE episode!!!! I don't know what I'm missing but it sure looks good. Maybe I should buy season one...I saw it at TArget for $18. I hope you LOVE the movie...I know you've been really looking forward to it! :)

Me again....

Wow...SWA is really messing with their flights & I am not sure what that means..:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 ..last night I checked on a whim to see what the fares are for my July flight to MCO....well I wound up changing my flight AGAIN - I have the same day and time but saved another $100 because the fare dropped to $99 outbound. THEN the Saturday return I have booked was showing Not AVAILABLE....TODAY it IS available...but for $5 more pp than I paid.....I am waiting for the SUnday return fares to drop and then maybe stay at the GF one more night. DH said do what I want. Well, you all know what I want.:rotfl: :rotfl: I just feel bad because I know how much it costs and he doesn't. :rotfl: :rotfl: He doesn't ask though, either. Men. (sorry Mike;) )

I just got back from Lucy's IEP meeting. It was finalized that she is losing the wonderful vision itinerant that has been so good to her for the past two years. WE had to get down and dirty in an ugly month long fight to keep her for this transition to 6th grade year but we did it and we won.:goodvibes Now the time is up...somebody new. I keep thinking I want to get this lady something FABULOUS for a gift but I dont know what. :( I always wind up gettting her a book store or JoAnne gift card...boring. But I know she likes that stuff. Last year....she made Lucy this BEAUTIFUL framed poem and typed it out so pretty and also in Braille.....It was just sooo touching....and I gave a dumb gift card.:rotfl: :rotfl: LOSER

Morning everyone!

Well on the way to school this morning I see all these helicopters flying over us. We always have morning news choppers since we're by the East River, checking traffic on the bridges but this was strange. Then we hear all the fire trucks. DS4's school block was bumper to bumper traffic with the principal on the corner directing parents. Turns out a massive crane fell and hit a building 4 blocks away. It was a crazy scene. The kids were all fine and in school but walking home was rather interesting. I had to walk out of my way a few blocks since they were closing all the surrounding streets. Cars were on the sidewalks so emergency vehicles could pass. I called DH and told him to turn on the tv and he gave me all the details. It's still on all the major networks here in NYC.

So due to this, I didn't go to see the Sex and the City movie :( The movie was in the frozen zone of the crane. Oh, well.

I did go and buy a pair of Aerosole shoes for WDW. I never had a pair of Aerosoles. I guess I always thought they were old lady shoes! :rotfl2: But I saw a cute pair of leather flip flops in the window and the sign "on sale" got me! They are really comfy and the sales woman said there's no break in time and they won't rub against your toes. I hope so. Now I just need a cute pedicure.

Hey Channing: I ordered my tuxedo strawberries w/mickey and the lady on the phone sounded like a moron! I asked if it came with a chocolate banner to say "Happy Father's Day" and she said no, they write it on the plate. I told her I saw a photo online with a banner and some truffles on the plate too. She said it must be another resort. I said no, it's the GF. Then she said they'll try to do the banner and it will cost $5 more. Well, acknowledge that you know what I'm talking about and that the banner is $5 extra!!! She seemed really ditzy. I hope my order comes okay. She asked what time I'd like them delivered. I thought they needed a time frame she said no when do you want them so I told her 3pm. I just hope they turn up the a/c should DH take longer at his RP driving thingy.

I was late on the SATC bandwagon. I didn't watch the first few seasons, I became addicted after watching a New Years Eve marathon on HBO. I really love the fashions and how the city is the fifth character.

I watch it now and then on tv but it's just not the same. They cut so much out for regular tv. How can it be Sex and the City if you cut out the Sex???:confused3

Mare that is creepy about the crane. Those huge tower cranes freak me out...that's nightmare material - having to climb up and work in one!:scared1:  :scared1: I hope nobody was hurt.

LOL about the dumb butt on the phone. NO...that shouldn't cost you ANYTHING extra. I think she was clueless. Hopefully the person that actually completes your order will know what you meant and do it for FREE. I have had things written on the plate and that is cute too...they do it in chocolate syrup in pretty writing but come on....if you're gonna be answering the phones taking orders you should know your stuff. Geeze. The people they have on the phones are terrible. :worried:

:rotfl: :rotfl: Well, I have to say that "Mr. Big" is creepy. He does NOTHING for me but make me want to turn the channel. Nasty. Maybe that's one reason I wasn't drawn to the show. Plus, those ladies are sooo different from me.:rotfl: :rotfl: I don't think I could relate. :rotfl:

I am with you Channing. I've never seen lost and only 1 or 2 SaTC...

Mare,
they just showed an aerial photo of that crane collapse...OMG...it looks horrid. It was very brief on a promo for the 11 am news.

It was crazy! You have to realize, with anything our first thoughts are "it's a terrorist attack!" People from area buildings just heard a loud crash. Many people had no idea what happen it fell so early morning. All the drama unfolded during the morning rush. I'm just glad it's a beautiful day today. This morning was 70 degrees out. Had it been raining, I would have driven to school and could have still been sitting in traffic!

When Cory Lidell's (the Yankee Pitcher) flew his plane into a building two years ago, that was another huge ordeal. My son's nursery school was two blocks away and the kids were on the rooftop playground and saw the fire from the building. Thankfully, they didn't see the actual plane crash. But the school had to be evacuated. They wouldn't let us in the "frozen zone". I was pregnant at the time with another pregnant mom we were screaming to the police officers to let us pass and get our kids from school. The kids were brought to the nearest church. It was so scary. We found them huddled in the last pews in the rear of the church reading books. They immediately closed all bridges and tunnels because it was a plane flying into a building. Once they knew who it was, it was a different situation. But at first it was thought to be another terrorist attack.

All I can say, it's just another day in my big city.

Mare....that is scary! oh...they just said one person is dead.:( How awful. Three others injured.

Well, I was on the phone jsut a few minutes ago and had a scare of my own:rotfl: ....creeeeeepy creeeeky noise and other loud weird sounds. I looked out front and a tree fell over due to the high winds!! THis is scary weather.:( DH is not going to be happy about that tree....time to get out the chainsaws this weekend...PLUS I think it's our neighbors tree that fell into OUR yard!!! Last time that happened (wth different people living there, though) the guy was such a weenie and we and our friends had to do all the work. It is really hard work to have to chop apart a 40 foot HUGE oak tree.....:rotfl: :rotfl: This one isn't as big though...TG.

My power keeps fading off & on again, too..... So if you don't see me for a while...I am reading a book in the dark. :rotfl2:
