Having a co-worker pet sit for me. What do you all pay?

LOL I missed where she said she has 5 cats!
Doing the litter bix for 5 cats would be worth more than a gift card, but I really don't knowa money amount.

We usually board our lab when we go away. They charge us $15.00 per day and and extra $3.00 go out and exercise throw & fetch a ball. But we do supply his food. And we have him groomed and pretty when we come home $35.00 for grooming.

We had a friend stay at the house with him in Feb. He is "out" of his home at the moment and living with his sister's family. He was happy to stay for the week and give his sister a break from him being there. He didn't want to be paid so we left him beer in the fridge and brought him back a gift from Aruba. He said he would do it anytime.

Wow! I have woman with an official pet sitting business come and provide food/water/litter and a short "love" time on my cat and she charges me only $5 per visit! Maybe split the difference Phors and pay $10 per day?

Wow! Unless she lives next door, I don't think she makes any money on this if you include gas and travel time. Maybe you're getting a friend rate.

For the OP, I think $140 or so is about right unless the coworker lives in the same neighborhood.

I have a good friend and her dd (who is a good friend of my dd10) come in to watch our animals while we are gone.

They take in the newspaper and mail every day.

We have 4 cats so they make sure the water and dry food bowls are full and then give them wet food every day.

We also have a hamster and they make sure he has water and they put some food in every day. Dd's friend likes him so sometimes she takes him out and puts him in his ball for exercise.

We also have 10 birds in 2 cages. The birds need clean water every day and food every other day.

We also have a lizard that needs to be misted daily and given crickets every other day. (open up cage and knock in come crickets from the tube from the cricket cage - no handling involved)

I also ask her to do a quick vacuum of the bird room - really just up & down 3 or 4 times as the room is real small but if it isn't done every day or every other day the house will be over-run by feathers when we get back!

We also have a litter robot for the cats and I ask her to change that once a week or it will over-flow. We also have a litter box downstairs but I don't ask her to change that.

For a week, 6 - 7 days, we have been paying them $100. We also bring them gifts home from Disney that add up to about another $20. This year I told her I would bring back some special treats from Goofy's candy shop - the treats you make with different ingredients.

I always feel like I am not paying her enough, but that is all she will take! They are here about a half-hour every day.

For us, we trade with some friends. We take care of their 5 dogs when they are gone and they check on our dogs/cats/hamsters/fish when we are. We are sitting for them this weekend as a matter of fact.

But, my brother pays my DD $25/day when she sits for him (3 dogs) since she goes 2-3 times/day lets them out, feeds and plays with them. While your sitter doesn't have to walk the cats, cleaning that liter box is :scared1:. One other advantage of having someone over there off and on may be that potential burglers won't know you are gone.

My uncle and aunt run a cattery out of their home. Years ago they used to charge pet sitters 25 dollars a day to stay with the pets and the sitters were welcome to food and drink in the house. I moved here five years ago and I started pet sitting for them. I told them not to pay me because they were family and I really love their cats. Usually they stock the fridge for me and I stay overnight if there are any mother cats and litters of kittens in the house. I will be staying with their pregnant queen in a few weeks. She might have the kittens while I'm with her so I will be staying there for a whole week in case she delivers. I think maybe pay the girl from work $15 a day. How far she does she live away from you?
