I'm driving dh crazy enough as it is with all the "plans" but I know if I start telling him when and where we are dining each day he is likely to explode.

After reading everyone else's posts about all thier PS I'm now worried. DH is more of a fly by your seat kind of guy and I'm a planner so sometimes that causes friction.

BTW, I don't have my heart set on dining anywhere in particular anyway. I would probably be OK with eating all park meals at counter service or just snacking our way thru the park and eating out offsite.

Any suggestions or will we be OK??

Given the fact that you really have no desire to eat at any one particular WDW restaurant, you might be ok, however, my family didn't care for most of the counter service food, it is just ok at best, but that depends on where you get it. I would suggest Pecos Bill's, Casey's Corner, and Cosmic Ray's for MK counter service, and the Sunshine Season's Food Fair sandwich shop for Epcot, at Ak we ate at Pizzafari, and MGM we ate at ABC comissary, I wouldn't recommend this one though, the food wasn't very good. But here is where the problem starts, what if when you get there you or your dh or both of you decide you do want to eat somewhere, then at some places it is almost impossible to walk up and be seated. I would say that most people who make Ps, just already know that they don't want to eat at a counter service or just want to enjoy sitting down in an Ac restaurant, and that is why, plus it helps to plan out these meals because then you know what your food budget is. Ps can always be cancelled should you change your mind, the only one requiring a cc hold is CRT and any of the dinner shows. Either way I know you will still have a good trip.

Dh is not a planner. He is like your husband. The first time we went to WDW we went the last week of June/first week of July. Dh didn't want me to plan anything. I made a PS for lunch the day we arrived, but no dinner. We didn't end up eating until 11pm that night because we couldn't find anywhere to eat that wasn't packed. (we were at Epcot) We had a 6 yr old with us also. What a nightmare.

After that night we would sit down at dinner and decided what we wanted to do the next day, I made PS's that night or the next morning. That is what we do now. I do ask him where he wants to eat when I am planning and I plan for those meals and any special things we want to do, but other than that we decide the night before. I have never not been able to eat where we wanted to, I might not get the time I want, but it is usually pretty close. I think this works well for us.

I am planning next trips and I make PS's for the first day ahead of time. I usually decide where to eat and what park we go to the first 1/2 day we are there. DH doesn't like to hear about it a lot, he justs wants to enjoy it when he gets there.

Well, Since your going in the summer peak times , I think it would be best to make some PS 's for places that you WANT to go for food. I wouldn't feel bad about your DH , if he has to wait on lines I dont think he will be happy either. Do some PS's and you can show him your skills and the "I told you so " thing!

If you have children you may want to consider making some PSs for the popular restaurants.

Last summer(late July) we only had PSs for Chef Mickeys but we planned to do counter service most meals. We inquired at SciFi and there was like a 4+ hr wait.

So I would suggest making a rough plan of what park you will be eating at and then deciding if you want a sit down meal or not. You can always cancel your PSs if you change plans.

You can make priority seatings for free from any WDW phone. If you start to get hungry, just call and make a PS for whatever park you're in.

Since there's really no place in particular you like, then don't worry about making any before you get there.

If you don't even want the hassle of making the PS, just keep ahead of the crowds. Eat at about 3:00 or so. (late lunch/early dinner) You shouldn't have any wait at all.

We never used to make PS's until we had kids. Now I don't leave home without'em. My kids would go CRAZY if they had to wait for hours to eat. Not that you always get right in with a PS, but the wait is usually much shorter.

I'm lucky in that my DH pretty much lets me plan whatever I want and will eat whatever/wherever. He's great like that! I usually pull the menus off of the allears site and we sit down and figure out where we'd like to go. Then I make the PS's.

One place that doesn't take PS's that is worth the trip is the Trails End Buffeteria in Fort Wilderness. We've been for breakfast twice, and from what I understand, lunch and dinner are excellent too. The waits are minimal, food is very good, service is great, atmosphere is fun and relaxing, and the value is excellent (breakfast is 9.99 adults, 5.99 kids all you can eat) It is a short boat ride from the MK and we always do this on our MK day.

Whatever you decide, have a great time!!!

Oh, and I second the previous poster who recommended Cosmic Rays and Sunshine Season Food Fair....both very good counter service places with good, fresh and some healthy food!!!

My husband and I are both planners. We eat a light breakfast and counter service lunch, but make PSs for dinner each night of our trip.

We like knowing where we'll be dining. Having a PS means we won't have to wait very long to be seated and that's important since he is a diabetic.

You may want to keep in mind that the lines for counter service meals can take an hour or more to get through during the busy season.

Counter service and snacking your way through may work fine, but you need to have realistic expectations about how convienient that will actually be. We went in October and had a 40 minute line at Tusker House in AK at 12:30. You are far better off eating right when the restaurants open, or late in the afternoon.
