Have your gas prices risen yet because of Katrina?

I just heard on the radio about a gas station in town that is at $2.94 a gallon, up from $2.69 yesterday.

I passed on station today that was $2.94, but another one just down the road was the same as yesterday, $2.74 or something like that. I'm hoping that the higher one is just a case of profiteering...

They were in the process of filling the tanks and changing prices as I drove up to the pump yesterday. It went up from $2.51 to $2.61 just like that. It went up again this morning to $2.69.

Gas in most places here is going to $2.99 a gallon today. On my way in to work, I saw some lower, but I am sure by my drive home they will all be up.

Here where I live a gallon of gas yesterday around noon was $2.59. By last night around 6:00, it had jumped up to $2.70! That's the highest we've seen here so far, but I'm sure it's about to get a lot worse. :earseek:

As of this morning, no, but I filled up in anticipation of it.

$2.47 yesterday when I left work... $2.59 when I came in.

I think we're just being ripped off. They didn't get a new shipment. They just raised their prices because they could.

We shouldn't pay more for what they already have in their tanks and have already purchased.

Isn't anyone watching what gas station owners are doing?

Can we all say gouge?

When DH and I went to Walmart last night I noticed gas prices were steady, but I haven't been out today. I filled up on Sunday just in case though and I have 5 gallons of gas in my storage closet in case gas stations start to run low. I've only seen one so far in our area with the regular unleaded pump covered up. I feel that the ones by the interstate are going to go empty pretty quick. The ones deeper into town where I live seem to be just fine.

I fueled up yesterday (Monday) morning for $2.46. That same station in the afternoon, less than eight hours later was $2.71. They raised their prices on fuel already in their tanks by 25 cents!

The gas station I usually fill up at was still at $2.62 for 87 this morning. They usually change prices on Tuesday night/Weds morning so we'll see what happens tomorrow.

I live in San Antonio, Tx and gas was 2.39 last night.....This morning some stations were up to 2.56 and others still at 2.39....I am sure all the stations will be up there at some point today. My dh said he heard on the news that the government might step in to defer the cost on a temp basis, because of the rise due to the storms....

I went at lunch to fill up. The station I went to was still at 2.69, but I did pass a station that was at 2.94, and heard from the lady working at the gas station there is a store in the area up to 3.04.

A friend called us last night (8/29) and said that he had just filled up and the lady @ the gas station told him that tomorrow (8/30) gas prices were going up 30¢ a gallon. We had already filled up our cars. That's really going to hurt, Dh has an Avalanche that was already taking about $60 to fill and my Town & COuntry was about $45 - OUCH!!! I'm waiting for Honda to come out with an Odyssey Hybrid, then I'm buying!!!

The gas companies sure are taking advantage of a bad situation. Yesterday gas was $2.53 and as soon as thye were talking an increase several stations went up to $2.99!! I filled up around 1:30 a.m. today for $2.59 and I drove by that station a half hour ago and now they are $2.99. It is a big rip-off and it's too bad our politicians can't step in and do something about it.

not yet, but nothing surprises me anymore... :guilty:

not yet, but we were already at 2.99/3.00 anyways.

It was $2.64 yesterday. Today it's $2.74. I filled up my tank last Wednesday but I've still got 3/4s of a tank left so it's not worth it for me to just fill up 1/4 or a tank. I've only got a 15 gallon tank but I live just 2 miles from work and don't do alot of driving. So while gas prices are bad they don't hit me hard at the gas pumps, the just effect every other price for me.

It went up $0.16 overnight, it is really insane.... With the labor day week-end coming up, I am sure that it will go up even more.

I cant help but think there is a lot more to high gas prices than we are being led to believe....I know everything points to the war, increased worldwide demand, now weather related....but I still think something is amiss....If gas supply is so diminished why are the big oil co. making such a profit....I read somewhere that the big oil and gas co....are making the highest profit ever.
It amazes me that there isnt more of an uproar over it and everyone is buying the story behind the high prices.....still the ?? why are to gas co....making so much??
