Hotel du Canada

We talked with several of the Canada Cast Members during our trip and they were so extremely disappointed that a DVC Showcase was put in the Hotel.

They were hoping for a Bar/Lounge/Shop like everybody else.

I had hoped that at least the DVC Showcase might bring a little "energy" to that long dead area.

It did not.

Still one of the deadest areas in World Showcase.

I wonder whether Disney might rethink this in a year or two if the DVC showcase isn't producing revenue. Maybe the space can be retrofitted into a lounge.
Agree that this could be a short lived experiment. I think they are trying this because it's hard to get potential buyers to leave the park for a tour and sales pitch.

Yes,hopefully very short lived.

People weren't beating the doors down the day we were there.

Probably having a POLYNESIAN showcase in the middle of the CANADIAN ROCKIES is a little confusing to Guests!lol

It's particularly sad to see they were able to use 2 stories, and use such nice looking decor - as it shows just how nice it would have been to make it a bar/lounge. Combined with some outdoor table seating outside where there's just empty space with some benches, this could have been a killer little bar spot and very popular. Would have absolutely packed the Canada pavilion and drawn a lot more visitors through the stores, the movie, etc.

I understand that the model rooms are not full size. Imagine trying to sell that to a potential buyer.

Absolutely!

It would be a MAJOR spark for that Pavilion.

The window they built could be used for walk up drink delivery for the deck.

Could even possibly have someone playing guitar and singing on the deck.

Amazing possibilities.

I think people are missing that fact that Canada declined to keep using the space, so no Canada purpose is in the cards. The space always suffered from low traffic because few stairs and 20 steps off the main path means most people walk on by. Think about how few make it to the back of Morocco or the back of Italy.

DVC stepped up to pay for the space. That will be first choice over any remaining Disney Parks paid for purpose, including retail or a new food outlet. DVC has 10 other stands to capture interest and send them over.

If DVC fails to be useful, I think Disney has to extend the space out to the promenade somehow to get "Curb appeal" and draw people up and in. Perhaps a covered outdoor shop or cafe that is an extension of the indoor, to draw people in, then a few more steps to get inside. But that is for a future year. Somebody call Timmy's... Regular coffee and a Maple frosted donut anyone?

Curious what this means. I'm assuming that the nation of Canada didn't chime in here. Does this mean the manager of the Canada pavilion? Aren't these sorts of decisions made by Disney (or, say, the EPCOT leadership team)?
