Have you used your Superbowl voucher?

Thought I'd start a thread to compile people's experience with using the voucher since many seem to have questions on how it will be used. So please respond after your fun-filled  Universal vacation....

1) Did you have voucher or just confirmation #?

2) Did you go up to any ticket window, or do they have a separate place to redeem your voucher?

3) How long was the voucher validation process?

4) What form of ID did you use, and were there any differences on the voucher vs your ID (ie, was your name misspelled, different address, etc)?

Please add any other questions you might have.

1) Did you have voucher or just confirmation #? Confirmation #

2) Did you go up to any ticket window, or do they have a separate place to redeem your voucher? Guest Services

3) How long was the voucher validation process? It took a bit longer than normal. The CM said the computer was a bit slower processing these than other types of tickets. The line getting TO the window was the worst.

4) What form of ID did you use, and were there any differences on the voucher vs your ID (ie, was your name misspelled, different address, etc)? I used my driver's license and she did check to see if the name and address matched.

I just PM'd someone on here that used theirs and they said that when Guest Services gave them the ticket, they made them sign it right there. I don't know if that has any significance once you go through the ticket taker people though. I'm guessing that once you go through and scan your finger, it's yours no matter what name is on the ticket unless you have to show ID the first time you use it. Not sure because I've never been there.

Also, another question could be "what time of the day did you go to Guest Services"? We won't get to US until about 3:00pm the day we arrive and I was wondering if it would be better or worse than other times. The person I PM'd said they waited 25 minutes but I didn't ask what time of the day they went.
Wonder if first thing in the morning would be better at Guest Services? Or later in the afternoon once everybody is already in the park.

Sue

Once you turned in the voucher and received the ticket, did you just go directly to the gate after that? The reason why I ask is that Costco gives you vouchers instead of tickets.

I too had to wait about 20 minutes in line at guest services. It was first thing in the morning just before the parks were do to open. Both my father and I had the superbowl vouchers and neither one of us was asked to sign the ticket they gave us. We were at different windows with different CMs. I would think the line would be better in the afternoon since everyone was trying to get in the park when I was there.

Yes, we went straight to the gate after we picked up the ticket, but I don't think we had to. The CM didn't say anything to me she just handed me the ticket. The ticket said it was a special free ticket, nontransferable, and said it was good for 6 days after first use. I think I still have it in my backpack. I'll pull it out tonight and post exactly what it says tomorrow morning.

We are here to provide information and not to advocate ways to circumvent Universal Studios' rules or policies. It seems like whenever Universal Studios gives people a great deal (like the free child's ticket a few years ago) that people still feel the need to find ways to cheat (like selling them on eBay or asking if an adult can use it instead).

Any posts that advocate transferring tickets will be deleted. The Superbowl deal was a great incentive and I hate to see it soured. If Guest Services do find out that people are transferring the tickets, they may start requiring ID at the turnstiles or walking the guest through the gates which will make the lines even longer at the turnstiles and at Guest Services. Let's please just use the tickets the way they are intended and be excited about the free gift.

I agree with you 100% phamton :thumbsup2

Just back from our US/IA vacation and used my superbowl ticket.

Had to call ahead of time to get my confirmation number as my award voucher hadn't arrived (of course it was here waiting for me when we retrned)

At the park I started to go to guest services but there was a big sign that said "Redeem vouchers at any ticket window". So I headed to one of those.

Waited in line about 20 mins. as it was first thing in am. Didn't take long for the cm to process my confirmation number and hand me a ticket. He did see my DL and confirmed my home address. He did not ask me to sign my ticket, however the cm at gate had me sign it.

On a side note my DH is retired military and we picked up his free ticket at SOG earlier that week as we stayed there prior to US. He had to show his ID and was given a "ticket" that had to be activated at US before first use much like the superbowl tickets.

Had a great trip and now have 2 7-day passes to use on a future trip as we had already bought tickets at AAA before all these promotions came out.

Well.....Phamton done put the smack down on this thread. Suppose you should keep it to PM's. Personally, I feel like they owe me something. I've spent thousands on Universal Studios in my life...whether it be movies or visiting their parks for the past 25 years. They threw me an $89 bone during the "recession". Honeslty, they shouldn't care who uses the ticket....if they get one more person in the park their chances of making a buck or two increases. And who knows.....perhaps they will stick around for life. :confused3

Disboard does not allow discussion of circumventing the rules of either Disney or Universal. So I wouldn't call it a smackdown but just an enforcement.

IMO, neither Universal not Disney owes anyone for the money they spent there. You bought a product or service. I've spent lots of money at McDonald's over the years, but I don't expect them to give me a free meal just because of that. If either McDonald's or Universal decided to offer a free product/ticket because I've been a loyal customer, I would take that. But the Superbowl promo was not a marketing scheme to reward the frequent visitors. It was a contest with winners and losers.

I agree somewhat with this but neither you nor I can make that call. Universal obviously wants the person whose name is on the voucher to use it, not your neighbor, your friend, or your relative. If they didn't care one way or the other, then they wouldn't require photo ID. It's their call to make. Personally, I'd love to let anyone in for a free trial but that's not my choice to make. When you entered the contest, there were a set of rules listed. By entering, you are accepting the perimeters that they have set. You can't just change the rules yourself because you feel they owe you something for spending money over the years.

I agree with Phamton. When you signed up for the contest you agreed to the rules presented. I bought tickets before the contest for my whole family as a result I will use the free ticket i won and have extended an invitation to my MIL to join us and us the ticket I had bought.
I honestly think Universal is only trying to prevent the resell of these tickets, not the use of them by the winner or a member of the winners party that is accompanying them THAT DAY to the parks. But if you try to let Aunt Sue use your winning ticket at the park because you have an annual pass dont discuss it here.

I didn't see anyone talking about how to "circumvent Universal Studios' rules or policies", Did I miss something???:confused3 All I read was how people had to go to certain counters, how long a wait they had and what ID they used.....

Actually I was lazy and didn't pay attention to the rules. I put in for the ticket figuring that I could give it to someone, as long as I accompanied them to the park, since I have an AP. This is a bummer because it makes the ticket worthless to me now. Uni would get more from me by letting me transfer it because not only would I be in there spending $$ but I'd have a friend doing so as well.

I had to delete a few posts and do some editing.

I hear you and understand. But unfortunately, you gotta abide by the rules. Don't think of it as a worthless ticket but just a coupon that you weren't able to use. I get those "save $5000 if you buy a new car this weekend" from my car dealership constantly. :rotfl: Unfortunately, I don't need a new car. My car only has 12,000 miles on it. (Although I think they actually just jack up the price of the new car. )

What's even worse is my dad got a settlement from a class action lawsuit for several thousand dollars which can only be used on a new car purchase and is non-transferable. My dad is 89 years old--Doesn't need or want a new car. I wanted to use that check when I bought my new car but it was non-transferable. I guess I could have used it if my dad paid for the car and got the title in his name but that just didn't seem right.

I have a question.

Is your name on the ticket that you recieve after handing in your voucher or using your confirmation number?

Your name is not on it at this time but that could change at anytime. Several people have said they had to sign their name on the ticket right after getting it but not everyone.

I got mine today! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm going to use mine in early December.
