Have you put in crown molding?

I'm very seriously thinking of having crown molding put in our family room & kitchen. Also, we have all white walls in this house (except for one bathroom). I am definitely getting the walls painted in the entryway (which also means the hallways, upstairs & down!) and the family room, eating area and kitchen. This guy who'll do it even has an idea for a paint treatment for the fireplace in the family room. DH thinks that white walls are just fine - so I need to convince him that it will look so much better with some color - esp ones that flow from room to room. (I am expecting to paint our bedroom myself this summer!)

So - if you've had crown molding put in - did you end up really liking it?

I love crown molding! I don't have much here, just in the bathrooms. But it really makes a room look so much nicer. And I'm not a fan of yellow, but I think it's glidden paint in an antique yellow. It's BEAUTIFUL! :) I never would have chosen that color myself, but all the rooms were obviously painted before I came in here. I'm really happy with it. My living area has a gable type ceiling. Can't picture molding there. Possibly do the bedrooms. Have fun with your project! I agree...looks nicer with colors on the walls rather than solid white all the way around.

I installed crown moldings in 3 different rooms in our house. My wife and I both really like the look. I painted the molding the same color (off white) as the ceiling, but the ceiling is a flat finish and the crown is a semi-gloss. It really seems to "dress up" the ceiling without being too bold.

I have an older house and we have crown molding thoughout the house. I painted the downstairs molding the same color as the walls, an off white color. I put a border below the molding and it sets off the crown molding.

I just had my bathroom remolded and the contractor talked me into crown molding in the bathroom. I am really happy with it. I painted it a yellow gloss, the walls are gold and the ceiling is white. I think that it looks really good.

My sister put a very fancy crown in her living room. She painted the crown off white, her ceiling is light blue and she is painting the walls a brown color!

We have crown moulding in our living room. Not only do we really like it, but we regularly get compliments about it - even from delivery people, the carpet guys, etc. I say, go for it.

Also, once you get some color on the walls, you'll love it!

Put the crown molding in, paint it white, then paint your walls a color and you will love it. Never, ever paint walls white.

I'll be the odd one out here.... I love my white walls, and if I ever did a crown molding it would be oak just like the rest of our woodwork. :)

I've had my husband put in crown molding and chair railing. It makes a room look finished. Just beautiful.

It actually really does look so much better with color, the walls really stand out and are more apparent. My dad's place has a cathedral ceiling and the walls are all very open so it connects to the upstairs, they used different shades of purple (no crazy shades ;) and it looks really beautiful. I guess it's sort of mauve. As for crown molding, I've been wanting to put some up for a while, I think it's gorgeous.
