Have you ever worn a cast?(inspired by Browneyes' DS)

Yes, a BODY cast for 6 MONTHS at the age of 13. I had surgery to correct scoliosis & then put in a metal rod to support the spine.

No baths or showers. YUCK!!! Had to lay on the kitchen counter so my mom could wash my hair in the sink.

Limited wardrobe -- great at that age (NOT!!!)
So popular with all the boys.

I looked like a turtle. It went from the pelvic area all the way up over my shoulders with a collar so I couldn't turn my head either. It had cut outs for my arms of course.

Kids used to knock on my back in the school hallways. Great way to enter freshman year in high school.

I've been afraid to post here, I'm afraid I might jinx it. I haven't broken anything yet. Knock on wood. lol

Yes, but not for a broken bone. I had surgery on my wrist and they casted it for a couple weeks. I didn't like it.

Nope! Thankfully I have never broke a bone and don't want to!!

I broke my collarbone when I was twelve. No cast (just a brace) but it hurt like heck.

Dakota will feel honored he inspired something.:)

I've never worn a cast, he's 2 up on me.:)

Yup, I had a cast on my arm when I fractured my elbow in 2 places. And I had one on my leg. That was the pitts! I had to get a ride to work from a coworker. I HATED not being able to drive. :(

Yes. :teeth:

It enclosed 3 of my toes
You just made me think of when I was at the hospital waiting to have x-rays done and a girl I knew was in there waiting also. She was going to have her foot and toes x-rayed because she lost her temper and kicked something. Her dad was NOT happy.

nope...I cut my finger once and had to get stitches, but no casts yet...knock on wood..:)

Broken left arm - skating. (actually from being chased by the school bully!)
Broken ankle - tobogganing.

Winter sports seem to be a bit of a problem!

I broke my arm when I was in the 3rd grade. I fell off my bike when attempting to ride down a really steep hill and I collided with my brother, who smashed himself up pretty bad as well.

t was pretty cool at first because everyone at school signed my cast. Do kids still do this?

The novelty wore off when it came time to go to the pool, and all my siblings could go and I couldn't. Plus, it itched!

Broken left ankle, broken right ankle and broken left wrist (not all at the same time!)

Yes, I've had a few casts!

Unfortunately most of last spring and this summer I had a cast and a walking boot. I had torn my achillis tendon at the beginning of this year and things escalated from there.:(

I am getting better now. Physical therapy 2 times per week and lots on my own.:)

Broke my lower left leg bone while swimming in rough surf, so I had to wear a cast from my knee down to where my toes begin for 10 weeks. (It was 2 different casts though.)

My tip for someone in a similar situation--buy a new flyswatter and use it for scratching--the flat paddle part fits well underneath the cast.

Hey, it's what worked for me.

I have a cast on my foot right now. :(

I have a fractured foot and a broken big toe. And I'm too embarassed to tell what happened. But I will tell that the accident happened on Friday the 13th.

I had a game keepers thumb from playing football, the summer after my Junior year in high school... 6 weeks... I had to wear it to our church youth trip to Six Flags~ that was fun:rolleyes: ~ Also, we had water fights all the time, so everyday about a half hour before Mom got home from work, I would be in the bathroom blow drying my cast... Mom never understood why I wouldn't let anyone sign it... It is because the water would have taken the ink off and I would have been busted!!;)

I broke both my collar bones when I was very young, one after the other. First, I fell down the cellar stairs in a walker, and then I fell out of the high chair. I don’t think I had a cast though; more like a sling. I have no memory of it whatsoever. Around that same time, I also tried to stand up in the stroller and wound up needing 4 stitches right between the eyes. Since then, I've been extremely careful.
