Have you ever sponsored a visitor from another

I have not, but my parents recently hosted two men from Mexico for a week. The visit was sponsored through the Rotary Club and my parents are still talking about how much fun it was. They have even decided to visit Mexico in the fall and visit each of the guys who stayed with them.

Hmmm - would an exchange student be the same?

We had an exchange student come from Germany & lived with us for a year. It opened up a whole new world for us. :flower:

Ive had a few from Austrailia back when I was in college. It wasn't an exhange student program though. They were college aged people who wanted a holiday and cultural exchange in a way. It worked out great each time I did it. They were always great people who stayed with us and we've kept in touch over the years.

My parents had two female teachers from Afghanistan stay at our house for a weekend. They were here for a program touring Nebraska.

You know what they loved? WAL-MART! They couldn't believe how much stuff was there and stuffed their suitcases with things to bring back for this children and students.

I wouldn't dream of it! Our lifestyle is too "offbeat" to accommodate someone in this way and I love my privacy too much. Besides, I don't get out of bed till noon! :guilty:

DH's son married a doctor from Russia several years ago. She and her family stayed in our home for 10 days for all the wedding festivities. DH and I dreamed of sneeking off to a hotel until they left. We just don't "do" visitors well at all...especially after the 3rd. day. :bitelip:
