I shipped home two boxes of souvenirs and linens from Target in April. I just took my shopping bags down to the front desk of the Grand Floridian (where I was staying) and they boxed it and sent it home for me. They said there was a delay because of a lack of boxes but it still arrived in about 3 business days! Everything was fine except for souvenir trading pin (of all things). It really is the way to go!
However, note that crossing the boarder is a little more difficult when you declare that you are sending boxes home (ie goods not accompanying you as they say). I was sent to what I guess you would describe as a **customs problem room** where I was carefully questioned about why I had the boxes sent (just said I did not want to lug them through the airport and that seemed to be okay.) They asked for a list of what was in it and figured out that because I was within the exemption limit that I would not have to pay duty on the contents of the box. Sure enough when the box arrived, all notes seemed to match up because I was not charged duty at all.
I really think this is the way to go - much better than schlepping everything through the airport. However, my two boxes cost $90.00 to ship - mind you they were very heavy. Still I would do it again.
