Have you ever left early?

There was one year where I had done everything and it was my last day. I was at Epcot (my third day there) when around 11:30 it started raining. I realized I just had enough. Went back to the room and after the rain stopped went to the pool and enjoyed my last day resting

No, never left early. But, I have found the best vacation, for us, to WDW is a non-park one. All lounging, all the time.

I've not left early, but was very tempted to on my last trip....on my first day at MK. After the first 2 rides, my DH and I looked at each other and decided we would rather be back home working than at WDW at all! We unfortunately decided to make the best of the trip, which didn't get much better from that point. Because of the miserable time had by all, we aren't planning to return to WDW for a VERY long time, if ever.

We were totally ready to leave early on our last trip. It was 15 days away from home total and by about day 10 we were ready to leave. If everything hadn't been paid for already we probably would have. We did spend a day almost exclusively at the resort toward the end, just to chill and slow down. It helped.

Yes. We had 7 days/8 nights planned this past April, but as the trip progressed, DH was dealing with more and more back pain. We called it quits a day early and enjoyed the extra day at home relaxing.

I had purchased the Disney Trip insurance and was unpleasantly surprised when I was informed the insurance was of no use to us since we were dealing with a "Pre-existing medical condition"!!! I have never again purchased the travel insurance!

Ugh. Yep, Disney insurance does NOT cover pre-existing conditions. (it's why WA state residents can't buy it, because WA requires PEC to be covered) What a time to find out.

Rather than never buying any travel insurance, why not go outside of Disney and buy travel insurance that will meet your needs? There are plenty of websites where you can compare insurance products. If traveling with him again, or anyone with a PEC that might flare up, OR if there's anyone who isn't traveling with you but might have a flare-up causing you to cut short your trip, if you buy insurance with the PEC waiver it could make all the difference to you.

I was told that the PEC was waived if your insurance was purchased at the time you booked the vacation and that you are not disabled from travel when you book. Is this not true? I'm a 2x cancer survivor and I have been out of treatment for years, but I always get the insurance.

Well...everything I've ever read in the past says that it doesn't.

Since I haven't ever been able to buy it (I can't buy flight insurance through airlines b/c of WA, because the insurance products don't cover PEC...we lost many health insurance providers when WA enacted the law as well) I have never read a policy.

I googled, and in a policy I found (https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/m...ediaType/VacationPackage/travelex-doc-wdw.pdf) it seems to show that with 3 requirements you can get the waiver.

Waiver of the Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion
The Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion is waived
provided you meet the following requirements:
1.
the payment for this plan is received at or before
the final Covered Trip deposit/payment for your
Covered Trip;
2.
you are not disabled from travel at the time you
make your plan payment;
3.
you insure all prepaid Covered Trip costs that are
subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions
and also insure the cost of any subsequent
arrangements added to your Covered Trip within
24 hours of the payment for those arrangements.

But I have NO idea if that's a current policy. What does YOUR policy say, each time you buy it? That's what you need to go by, not what I say (which could be wrong since it seems like I already am!) or what the rep on the phone says. What is in your policy? Do you meet the requirements for the waiver?

Directly under that could be the answer to the previous poster since it seems that I am wrong for current policies.

The following exclusions apply to all coverages:
We will not pay for any loss under the plan, caused by,
or resulting from:.... (b) mental, nervous,
or psychological disorders, except if hospitalized (does
not apply to Medical Expense Benefits); (

Which, um, is kinda icky.

From the WDW site this is the policy for the insurance purchased after October 2013: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/m...ediaType/VacationPackage/travelex-doc-wdw.pdf (looks like the one I found above?)

And this is from before then. Well actually it's a link to more, depending on your state. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/genericcontent/insurance/

So it's entirely possible I've misunderstood; it's not like that hasn't happened before. OR it has changed. OR I'm getting myself confuzzled with DCL insurance, which does NOT cover PEC but let me put it in my fake-cruise cart just now. Heck, the Affordable Healthcare Act could have totally changed this.

I just went through WDW's site as though I were booking a package. I was able to include insurance. This has NOT happened before; I've been denied back in the early days of WDW planning, when I tried.

Now, the insurance was $155 for a $1700 vacation. It's possible I could get that coverage for less through a non-Disney provider. :)

So it seems to look like I'm wrong, and the denial for the PP was either because it was different OR because it was caused from a mental condition. :( Seriously, what a weird reason to deny coverage. But why did the rep say it was b/c of a PEC?

Read your policy, see if it covers, see what it says, see if you qualify.

And maybe consider looking to one of the other insurance sites to see if you can get the same/better coverage elsewhere for cheaper. :)

Sorry to steer you wrong there. Hope I've worked towards making up for it.

@bumbershoot Thanks. I tried to find a copy of my past trip insurance to see what it said and I cannot find it. I just remember specifically asking the Tavel Agent about when I booked my trip in 2013, and I know I got a brochure and probably read it, but I cannot remember what it said, but also, I want to say it wasn't through Disney that time. Then, last year, I just told her I wanted insurance again and I remember it was through Disney. I should have time next week I am going to call her and ask about it again and see what she says and if she can send me a copy of it. My trip is not until November but I always pay in full when I book.

We have today planned as a down day. So, I agree we'll take today and see. The earliest we could leave is tomorrow anyways, just considering the vast amount of packing etc... that needs to be done.

DH and I are getting tired, as well. I mean, we're more than willing to stay if the kids can handle it, but, if we're honest, yeah, we're getting tired. DH hasn't been sleeping well because of the heat.

Not sure what is up with my leg. It's on my right calf, on the edge of the muscle. If you push on it, it hurts in the same way that a bruise does, but there's no bruise (no swelling or discoloration of any kind). It doesn't hurt generally though unless I touch it or walk. I've run my fingers all along the vein and it doesn't seem to be the vein, but the muscle that's next to it. Blah.
IMHO I would have that checked out BEFORE the 3 day drive home! Could be a DVT, or could be nothing. As a parent you need to take care of your own health first, so you can take care of your family. And I agree with leaving early and taking a little more time to drive back. That might be the sensible solution. Whatever you decide, Be well... And go easy... NonnaT

Whoa, that does not compute. Even the worse day at Disney is better than the best day at work. Sorry you had a poor time. Hopefully you have found a vacation destination that suits your family more.

I was thinking Possible DVT as well. Clots under your knee only need elevation and rest, but some can grow or break to your upper leg and that spells trouble. I got a dvt from a ride to Disney. It was only a 9 hour trip....can't imagine 28 hours!

Not due to emergency, but by choice?

We are having a great time, we have 6 park days under our belt, with 3 more days in Florida, but... DD is really starting to lose it. She's only 5, with ASD, and while she has done phenomenal on this trip, I can tell she's nearing the end of her rope. We've been gone from home 11 days now, longer than ever before. And, we have a 3 day drive home when we leave here. I admit, that I'm considering pulling out early. In a way it makes me sad, but at least we've gotten a visit in to all the parks (three to MK!). And I feel like I'd rather leave now before she is completely shot, than pushing her for 3 more days and starting the drive home with her a wreck.

To add to it, I'm developing pain in my right leg, not sure if it's muscle or vein pain, but... I know by yesterday, walking around was really starting to get to me. It's not horrible pain, but a burning feeling, and I don't want to drive home 28 hours in misery.

Anyone else ever left vacation a bit early?

My parents avoided Disney in the summer time because of I was hyper sensitive to the heat and couldn't communicate what was wrong. (I was speech delayed and I didn't even last a few hours at Sea World one year, but luckily my grandparents lived nearby) but I would say maybe take a day off and spend the day relaxing and doing nothing. See how she does there, but if you have a long trip home, you can break that up too to lessen the stress. We had 18-20 hour drive from Ohio down and would break it up over 2-3 days.

For other non-WDW vacations, we have just kind of known when the family had enough and it was time to go home. Given you are driving, trust your gut instincts and act on them.

Not from Disney, but we cut the last part of our vacation short last year because one of my kids has anxiety, and we timed it just too close to the start of the school year. None us was up to pushing it. Lesson learned for us. Week before Labor Day not the week to pick for a family vacation.

I wondered about that, but I don't think so. There's no redness, no swelling, no discoloration at all, no heat to the touch and today it's not even tender to the touch. I've had a few little twinges every now and then, but they're all over my leg, so I think it's just over usage. I'm a SAHM, not used to walking as much as I have for so many days, not to mention swimming every day, lol. But, if it continues or gets worse I will go.

Ouch! What were your symptoms, and how did it go away?
We made sure to stop and stretch our legs every few hours or so, and I was careful to be stretching my legs in the car as well for that reason.

Well we're going to stay till Sunday. We took the day off yesterday which helped. We went to AK today, but we're done. We're taking tomorrow to rest and pack an we're getting on the road early on Sunday morning. We're going to do shorter days on the drive home as well. My leg is definitely feeling better than it was. It twinged a couple times while I was at AK today, but nothing like it was Wednesday. Honestly, Wednesday was a HARD day, we spent a total of 10 hours in park, with a lot of standing, and then we were swimming on top of that. It more just has that sore, pulled muscle type feeling, and there doesn't seem to be any one consistent spot, almost more up and down along the calf/shin. I was almost wondering more about shin splints. There's no bruising, discoloration, redness, swelling, heat to the touch etc...

On a different note, I did wake up today with a sinus flare up, so here's hoping that calms down! I took my allergy pills, bought some Zicam, and can't wait to head out!
