Inspired by the I talk to stangers while in line thread...
Have you had any strange/odd converstations or encounters with people while you were in line?

I'll Start...

We went to DLR and were waiting in line for the POTC. There was a young couple in front of us that just out of the blue started talking to us. Well....I am not one to judge but they were a little odd. All the way through the 35 minute line the man kept turning to me and my DD and saying "ARRRR". But not only did he say it he took his finger and made it like a claw.
Ok..Once or twice is funny but then it gets a little old~
We thought we weren't going to get on the same boat...but low and behold someone decided they wanted to wait to be in the front. So We got the seat in front of them and every once in a while he still did it!! He even continued after we got of the boat..so I told my DD that we would come back to look in the gift shop! :sunny:

I am sorry that happened to you, but I can't help but laugh! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I do the same! Me and my DD laugh ever time someone says pirate. My DH is like why are you laughing??....I tell him inside joke! :cool1:

I once got in line with a man who probably needed real professional help.

He was just a little strange. The highlight was about half way through the line he asked me if I was married and I said no. (BIG MISSTAKE!) He spent about five minutes trying to convince me to marry him.......The family behind me was laughing so hard they were in tears and I was just trying to decide if it was TOO rude to just get out of line.

Then we got to the ride (Tower of Terror) and he told the CM that we HAD to sit together as we were getting married. The look of horror on my face must have been a giveaway because the CM looked right at me and asked how many were in my party. I loudly said ONE and she stuck me in a single seat on the next elevator leaving my suitor behind.

I saw him later that day talking to some other women... strange way to get a date!

We were in line for ToT at DCA, and the ride broke down when we were mere feet from loading, so we decided to stick it out. We were travelling with friends, and one friend is an aspiring movie director. Well, being in LA, we should have known not to mention that to anyone, as everyone is either an actor, producer or director, but when we fell into conversation with the folks in line behind us, who were an aging starlet and her "friend", they asked us what we all do (I only put quotes around that because it was obvious that, if she thought our companion could help her, that she'd leave her own friend in an instant). As soon as she found out what he did, she immediately described to him her resume, her perferred roles, her training, everything. She kept inching closer and closer to him, leaving her own companion behind, and would lean in at our pal to display herself to best advantage, as our friend was sitting on the floor. She'd laugh hysterically at everything he said and paid attention only to him. It was funny and kind of embarassing at the same time. We COULD NOT extricate ourselves from her, even after the ride. She gave him her card. Now, this was particularly amusing as, not only do we not live in LA, but our friend wasn't even working in the industry at the time. I think she was hoping he'd remember her if he made it big. LA is a strange place.

On one trip I was in line for POTC and I got these people next to me in line and I kept saying "Arrrrr" to them and giving them the claw signal with my hand :rotfl2: They really enjoyed it. They were very lucky that I was able to get on the same boat as them and keep it up. I got them so into the ride that they had to go to the gift shop to buy pirate stuff.

Then I went to MGM and found the woman of my dreams in line at TOT. She was totally in love with me and offered to marry me  . I found her cute and thought I would play along. But the darn stupid CM messed up and didn't put her next to me on the ride. I bet she was really disappointed, :( but luckily I didn't have to act like I would marry her anymore. :thumbsup2

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, sorry, now we can return to the regularly scheduled program
Carry on.

We were at MGM for Superbowl this year and to show support for the Seahawks my BF was wearing a 'hawks shirt. We encountered only a few Seahawks fans and said "HI", asked what part of Seattle they were from, wished them a good trip and carried on.

Well, we were exiting ToT and this couple was almost stalking us but then we saw the Seahawks shirts and realized they were one of us. Not really, the wife held me hand and told us how great it was to be supporting this team and how lovely of a couple we were and then went on to tell me that she loved my clothes and she had been watching me from the great movie ride to RnR and now ToT. They then asked us where we were staying and what plans we had for the game. We lied about our resort and said we hadn't thought about the game (another lie).

Just a little creepy for me. RUN!!!!!!!!!!!

heheh that's funny.. kinda reminds me of one time when we were in my Caribbean class and we were learning about pirates and my prof was telling all sorts of pirate jokes. For the life of me I can't remember any of them except one...

Where does a pirate like to go on vacation?

ARRRRRRuba

Anyways, the only odd convo I have ever had was the couple in front of us thought we were from Holland. :confused3

My husband is about 6 months older than me... we went to disney with my sister who is 13 younger than me aabout 5 years ago when she was about 16. Anyhow we were in line waiting to ride the jungle boat and were chatting with the family infront of us. As we were getting on the boat the parents of the family infront of us generously told my husband what a great set of daughters he has...

Makes me giggle to this day

Well in the interest of fairness... I was once one of those really wierd people.

It was a DISCONI (I think, maybe II, but probably I) I was walking around the world showcase with another DIS member. It's the First Saturday in December 2001 (That part I do remember) and I see some young women walking by (college age) They are waving an orange and white shaker and singing "Rocky Top" The UT/UF game had been that evening in Gainesville. Tennessee had NOT won in the Swamp in 30 years. I didn't watch KNOWING we were going to lose again....

I ran up to the girls and said "what happened" They started screaming that UT WON! We all hugged like crazy folks and sang Rocky Top. My DIS Friend looks at me and asks if I know those people... umm not really.....(I didn't really belive them. I had to go to the pay phone in the UK and call my mother.. when she answered the phone "Big Orange Country" I believed!) If you are UT Fan you remember where you were on that night!

I just have to say that there seem to be a lot of odd encounters at ToT. I think that waiting in line might scare me more then the actual ride.

I can add one to the ToT!! Last year at DCA, my best friend and I were waiting inline for just that ride! Ahead of us was a lady (probably in her late 30s, early 40s) and she seemed to be waiting with her son. we just chatted briefly with her about how chilly it was that day and then her son seemed to want her attention....even though he looked about 15, he wanted her attention so he could whisper sweet nothings in her ear and give her some big ole smooches!!! LOL, Lord love a duck we were sooooooo embarassed and shocked! We didn't know what to do....all we think now is that 1)he wasn't really her son, 2)he looked REALLY young for his age, 3)they're not at ToT in WDW when we get there in Sept., 4)that is was all a BAD BAD dream!

I've got to admit, in all my solo trips to WDW, it never really struck me as the type of place to pick up women. Or maybe I'm just jealous because no one's ever tried to hit on me! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

In 2004, I was in line for Dinosaur with my two older kids. Ahead of us was a man, a boy and a woman, who I assumed together. The woman -- out of the blue -- starts talking to me. The line moved pretty quickly, but by the time we hit the preshow room, I knew she was travelling solo, she worked as a children's librarian in New Jersey, and that she was staying off-site and using the hotel's shuttle service. She was scared to death of the ride, but determined to experience Disney to the fullest. I ended up offering to tell the ride attendant there were 4 in our group so that she could sit with us, and she held my son's hand during the entire ride. I bought the ride photo just so I could remember her and her story. It was a true bit of Disney magic. Something that I never would have instigated, but still special.

Well lots of the weird chats but how about when you go to WDW and see someone from your past that you haven't seen in a while. Last October 05, I was going into LeCellier I passed who I thought looked like a guy I graduated with. Well of course it wasn't because who comes to WDW and sees people they know? (Even though I am the one my friends and family make fun of because I always see people I know every where I go). I walk outside and then see his wife, also someone I went to school with and so did my husband. We haven't seen this couple in years even though lthey ive nearby. So I see the woman and then I hear, "See it was Heather". I then turn around to see my friend and they are there with their three girls. I then yell to my husband and mother to come and see them. It was a true Magic moment because out of all of the weeks to go on vacation, we each pick the same week. Out of all of the parks, we are at the same one on the same day. And out of all of the people at WDW on a given day, what are the chances that you will run into someone you know? We catch up and chat a while. Then my family says, "You can't even go to WDW without seeing someone you know." Then we see them again a few days later at AK during a rain time. And on that same vacation we are sitting down waiting for MGM's Lights, Motors, Action and I keep looking at this woman thinking, I know her. And I did go to high school with her and played women's softball with her for years. We kept looking at each other and then asked each other if we were who we thought we were. It was really funny and weird at the same time. If it happens this October then it will be really Twilight Zone.....

I was in line and this guy had on a neat Mickey shirt and I told him I liked it...he turned and said thanks and we talked a bit.

He sounded just like Mickey Mouse....I thought he was trying to do just that, but after a while of listening to him talk to his wife, I realized it was the way he really talked!
I was laughing to myself til I got on the ride. He was totally cracking me up. :rotfl2:

DH and I took our son, was 3 at the time to experience MK. DS and I were in line to have Buzz Light Year Sign his book. When from out of no where a woman approached my son and asked him if he wanted some pixie dust. I am thinking, ok I will play along and see what this crazy lady is talking about! DS said, "Yes!" and then she took a small, shiney star cut out (like the ones you see in confetti or throw in envelopes with party invitations) and stuck it too his cheek.

She then says to DS "This is such a magical place. My son had a very sick heart was going to die, but he got better and we brought him here to meet Mickey!" She is saying all of this to my 3 year old and never really acknowledge I was there.

I have never witnessed something like this. I thought what a nut! But then my thoughts deepend to empathy. Knowing that she once had a sick child but is now healty enough to experience a wonderful place like Disney put her position in better perspective for me. Made me not so quick to judge.
