Have you ever had a conversation with someone famous?

Not myself, but my DH has met many. First, when he was in HS, the girl he dated was best friends with Kirk Cameron's girlfriend at the time so they double dated a lot. Now, because of his job, he has had to deal with, to name a few, Cynthia Nixon, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Alex Baldwin, Kim Basinger, the fabric lady of Real Housewives of NYC, Ralph Cifaretto and even had Steven Buscemi call me on my cell phone to say hello! He has also met and worked with many political figures, of whom I have met some as well. He even has a story of walking with JFK, Jr. down a set of stairs and they were talking about something. All of sudden, my dh somehow lost his footing and somersaulted down the stairs. He says all he remembers is looking up from his fall and seeing JFK, JR.'s eyes wide open, and his hand covering his wide open mouth.

He probably would kill me if he knew I told this story.

Living in middle Tennessee, we've had occasion to have conversations with the occasional famous person, mostly country music critters, but some actors, also.

My wife practically drooled all over Dwayne Johnson once over a meal at WDW. He was very gracious.

A few years ago, I hung out at Lee Evans house with his family the evening before a game. They were all very nice. We tailgated the next day and then hung out with Lee and a few other Bills after the game.

If you count American Idol contestants as famous people, then yes. Also, my dad is close with a well-known college football coach so to some that could also be considered 'famous' but some people don't even know his name!

Same here! My friend (a guy) who I was with at the time ran into him in the men's room and they chatted then walked out to where I was and we all chatted some more. I've met numerous race car drivers there as well as Ashley Judd when she was there with her husband. I chatted with Jeff Goldblum in NYC after a show, boy he is tall! I was talking to my husband on my cell phone when Jeff walked up, so I just hung up on DH, he was cool with it though, lol. Also David Hyde Pierce and Hank Azaria after seeing Spamalot, it was really cold that night and my friend and I were the only ones hanging around the stage door so they let us in and we all hung out for a while.

The longest time I've spent with "celebrities" was the entire day I spent with the Duggars riding around on their bus with them! :rotfl:

that is cool they live down the road from where my dh works and they oldest Josh came to our house once he is a very nice kid ...He bought a stereo we were selling ....I forgot about that but than I didn't think of them as celebs..

DD and I met Elijah Wood and Sean Astin.

This one got my attention. Are they as sweet as they seem to be on TV? Why were you on the bus with them? Do you know them personally? I am super curious about this!

Patrick Stewart
Frank Langella
Hector Elizondo
Craig Shoemaker

Those were all in the course of the same movie production. I think those are the only ones that qualify as actual "conversations". I've met lots of celebrities, but most were just exchanging a "hello" and such.

I'd add Paul Newman at various racetracks (just to keep up with others), but he only ever said "Thank you" to me once. I did see him quite often in the pits and got some nice photos, though.

I've met quite a few sports stars, and even rode in the same car as one of NASCAR's top stars. :goodvibes

But they are just normal people, and some are even super shy

These are cool stories. I don't have any of my own besides Steven Page from the Barenaked Ladies (Canadian Band).

I do have a close friend that worked in a hotel that Patrick Swayze was staying at when they were filming and he always came in with funny stories. Like when he told Patrick he could not smoke in his room and Patrick completely ignored him and told him to get him an ash tray. He told him 3 times and Patrick kept telling him to get an ash tray. He gave up.

I also had another friend who was working security on a movie set. They had stopped to grab a quick lunch at the food table and started having a conversation with someone and did not realize until they started to walk away that it was Brad Pitt.

Adam Sandler
Allen Covert
Bill Goldberg

They shot a majority of the movie "The Longest Yard" here in NM. One day, DW and I got wind of an open set where people could go in and watch the filming of the movie. There wasn't a lot of people there, so during the middle of takes, they would come over and just strike up a conversation.

George Lopez
Chris Johnson
Luke Bryan

I work security, part-time, at one of our local event centers. Occasionally I'm assigned outside the performers dressing rooms. Every now and then, while waiting to go on stage, the performers will come out and strike up a conversation. I've met several stars there, but these are the only 3 that I've actually had a conversation with. All the others were just hi, how are you doing.

Randy Travis

Lives in my old home town (I still work in my old home town), and I used to work for one of the local grocery stores. If he would come shopping alone, he would stop and talk. If his wife was with him, she wouldn't let him.

I use to work in the city (NY) for a man that did insurance for very wealthy and some high-profile people.
I've spoken to Star Jones and her then husband (sat with him while he waited for my boss) BUT, my biggest high-profile person I had a conversation with was Sarah Furgeson, the Dutchess of York.
I had to call her on her cell a few times and we made small talk.
It was at the time she was promoting WW, so worked very hard not to mention that LOL

What fun stories! Thanks for sharing everyone!

When I was in college at Auburn University, I was on the committee that brought speakers and speaking entertainment (think comedians) in for events and appearances. We brought George Carlin my freshman year. When I arrived at the colliseum to work the show, I was asked to pick up Mr. Carlin at his hotel, since I had a car. So, there I went, a scared barely 18 year old kid, picking up one of the biggest comedians in the entire universe! I pulled up in front of the Hotel and he was standing outside waiting. He was actually pretty quiet, but we talked about football and what it was like to go to a big SEC school. He asked about landmarks on campus as well. He was a sweetheart and a gentleman, very polite.

When I was a kid we were family friends with the Koch family. Gary Koch was a PGA golfer at the time and is now a professional golf commentator. I remember one time we went out to Pittypat's Porch in Atlanta and the adults all agreed that they wouldn't talk about golf or religion (my dad was a preacher).

When I was subsitute teaching at my high school, Newt Gingrich came and spoke to the AP history students. I stayed after and spoke with him for a while. Not only was he unbelievably friendly and welcoming of all of my questions, he has to be, to this day, one of the most brilliant people I have ever spoken with in person.

Oh...I'd forgotten. FIL refs some local wrestlin' matches (he did some way early WWF-like a decade+ ago-years before I met DH). Dan Severn was at a local match that FIL was reffing and after the show DH and I were waiting for FIL so we could go home-he'd drove. FIL walks out talking to Dan and stroll over to where DH and I were waiting. They just kept talking and then DH and I joined the conversation. We must of talked for a good hour with Dan.

Yes, believe it or not, for all their "kookiness" they are indeed very nice people, just the same on or off camera, the kids don't even notice when the cameras are rolling, or they're just so used to it. I really didn't want to like them, lol, but I couldn't help myself, the kids are so polite and adorable and Michele is a sweetheart. Jimbob is nice, but kinda ditzy and scatterbrained, i think they had this several week roadtrip planned out and trying to stay on schedule with that many people and events was probably overwhelming. I didn't know them before they came to our area to film for their show, in fact, I emailed and invited them and never expected to hear from them. Well last May/June I got a call on a Friday from Jimbob himself saying they would be here the following Monday! Boy, did we have to scramble to hook up an itinerary for them! If you saw the show where they went to Amish Country in Ohio before going on to DC, that was the one. I work to promote tourism here so that's why we invited them. They were here Sunday evening and all day Monday, but only about 15 minutes actually made it in the show, I think I got about 10-15 seconds of airtime. :rotfl: It was funny when that show aired, my teenage daughter's cell phone started ringing with her friends saying, "your mom is on tv!"...she wasn't too impressed though. I haven't talked to them since they were here other than a few emails, but I do have an open invitation to stay with them if we ever decide to go to Arkansas!

Well, yes, I work in the music industry and have talked to quite a few musicians. Some very well known, some not so well known. We have rock/metal guitarists in the office pretty regularly. And since I listen to country I get a lot of the artists who play country music assigned to me. I get to go to shows and hang out with them. :)

I sat with Stefanie Powers on a flight from Denver to San Francisco back in 1982 (I think it was 82) and I didn't have a clue who she was. All I know is there was this really pretty lady ordering me drinks and talking my ear off. When I got a chance to get a word in I asked her what she did for a living :lmao: The look on her face changed and she said in kind of a low voice "I act". So you know I had to dig myself in a little deeper and asked her if she had been in anything I might have seen. She said right now I'm on a show called Hart to Hart. I felt like a fool. She was a very nice lady.

There's more to the story but I'll stop right there.

Being a professional photographer, I've interacted with a lot of famous people, but the better story is my daughter's recent experience. Her boyfriend's godfather owns a major talent agency out in LA and Christmas Eve, she was at a party at his brother's house. So, she texts me that she is sitting on a couch talking to Sylvester Stallone. I replied, "how did you understand him?" :lmao:

The two coolest stars I met were Christopher Reeve and Patrick Swayze. I have also met many of the Atlanta Falcons and many other pro football teams. A company I used to work for worked at the GA Dome, so I got to meet many celebreties that way. Christopher Reeve was a really down to earth guy. I really enjoyed meeting him. Also Patrick Swayze was a really cool guy to meet.

Gene Stallings, former Alabama and St. Louis Cardinals football coach, filmed a United Way commercial at our house and was featured in it riding our horses with his son, John. So we spent the better part of a day with him and he could not possibly have been any nicer.

I also met Nate Mendel, bass player for the Foo Fighters and the reddish-haired guy in my sig below, after a concert in Chicago and chatted with him for about 5-10 minutes. Well, my friend chatted with him because I was desperately trying not to blurt, "OMG I LOVE YOU SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!" at the poor man. But we also talked with him in a bar in Houston about a month later; we'd just learned that he was going to be recording with another band (the one opening for Nate's band) and had been hanging out with their drummer for a few hours in the bar prior to the show, so Nate came by and joined the conversation.

My brother once had a beer with former Avalanche and Flyers hockey player, Peter Forsberg, whom I love very nearly as much as the aforementioned Mr. Mendel. I still haven't forgiven my brother for not kidnapping him and delivering him directly to me.

I use to work at a convention cenrter met some cool people Bill Gates was the coolest.
Rode an elevator with Tony Robins

Only he didn't hypnotize me. I don't think!
Though it has always puzzled me how my wife can eat 3 big macs!!!
