Hi
We booked our first standard view for an upcoming trip in April. I really don't have enough points to upgrade and I am feeling wistful for the Boardwalk view already! Just wondering if anyone has had a surprise upgrade if you were staying on points? And If I do end up staying in the standard one bedroom , what should I expect. (One thing I hope to have is more quiet, that basketball game drives me nuts)Have you Dissers here liked it okay? :goodvibes

Thanks!

Jean,

Over the years, we've had BW view rooms; mostly in the "Crest O' the Wave" area. The view is great but it's a looong walk from the elevator.

We have enjoyed many standard view rooms. Those toward the far end of the hallway (toward the Studios) tend to be quieter -- but ALL of them face the front entrance/driveway so there is some traffic noise when you're on the balcony.

The only time we've been upgraded from a standard to a preferred view (not A BW view) was due to a maintenance issue (a water leak) in our standard room.

Enjoy your vacation!

We were moved once from a studio standard view to a boardwalk view, but it was in Sept of 2001, two weeks after 9/11. The place was empty! We loved the view, but it didnt make for good people watching.......there were no people!

We have had several Standard View rooms at the BWV and have never been upgraded to BWV. Upgrades do not happen often at DVC properties so I wouldn't count on getting one. If you do it will be a bit of pixie dust that you weren't expecting!

I was upgraded once to what technically was a preferred view, facing the Swan/Dolphin right next to Jellyrolls (with their dumpster below). They were calling those rooms standard at the time because the DVC office blocked part of the view and some of the regular standards were out of service due to painting. I would have preferred one of the regular standard views (I actually had requested the corner room).

How have you liked your standard views??? I asked for the top floor and to be close to the elevators. Of course I know that I MAY get it or I MAY not....:goodvibes

Thanks for the pics!

Where ar the corner rooms???

If you are getting a standard 1 bdrm, ask for a room that ends with 123, such as 3123, or 4123. I've only seen pictures, but those villas are HUGE!

You probably won't get it, but WOW!

We've loved our Standard View rooms. We've always had rooms overlooking the front entrance or toward the Studios (we even got to see a bit of the fireworks from Fantasmic! one time) and have been perfectly happy with them.

Don't get me wrong...they aren't a Boardwalk View, but they are very nice and I'd rather save the points!

Wow, DebbieB!! Those pictures are awesome!!

Staying in BWV standard view 1 bdrm in February. First time at BWV. I understand that they can be FAR from the elevators, but can you get out from the far end via stairs? Can you access the path to DS?

Thanks!

The stairs are right across the hall from the rooms, you exit on the first floor on the corner to get to the parking lot & bus stop. There's also a door to get to the quiet pool. I've never used the path to DS so I don't know how to get there. I think the hallway distance is greatly exaggerated. It would be like saying it's too far to walk from the train station to the end of Main Street.

You can get out on the corner (nearest valet) via stairs. I had a ground floor Standard view, somewhat facing the entrance. I was almost disapointed about the location until I realized with that stair exit, it was equidistant to the busses and boats, and never had to take the stairs or elevator to either transportation!

Thanks DebbieB and hakepb for the replies!

I'm not too worried about the hallway length. Everybody talks about how long the hallways at VWL are too, and I don't have any problems with them either.

In any case, can't wait to try BWV!!
