My sister went for her mamogram and was told that there was a suspicious area. She went to her OBGYN and he told her she would need a biopsy. She went to a surgeon who looked at her mamogram and said that she should have the biopsy. Everything was set up and I took her to the hospital for the biopsy. We were setting there waiting for them to come and take her back to preop when a nurse said that the radiologist wanted to speak to us. We went back to talk to the radiologist and he said that she didn't need the biopsy. He compared her mamogram to those for the past ten years and there was no change. The "suspicious" spot was just calcium. Now, we were glad she didn't need to have the procedure. But, wouldn't you think that between all those doctors they should have come to this conclusion prior to us arriving for her surgery? She went through all that stress because they didn't take the time to compare her current mamogram to those done prior. Amazing!
