We are thinking about doing the Family Magic Tour at the MK on our trip in June. Anyone who has done it, can you tell me about it (without giving away all of the secrets) so we can decide whether we want to really do it? It would be me, DW and DD 8.

Also, does anyone know how far out it books up?

We did the Family Magic Tour 4 years ago and we had a great time! If you love to be silly and have fun, you will love it! My kids were DS8, DS5 and DD5 months when we did it. My DH also loves to be crazy and he had a great time with the kids. There is some walking involved since you hit every land in MK, but it didn't seem that far. The kids get to feel special and the surprise at the end is worth it, we thought. We have thought about doing it again on our next trip. The last two trips since we did it we have been trying other new things.

Have a great time and enjoy!!

It's been a few years since we did it but we had fun. I don't want to give too much away but they lead you around the MK to find "clues". I'm not sure if the "storyline" has changed but it's based on Peter Pan and Captain Hook. You have to be willing to be a little silly which we had no problem with. Other people in the park look at you with curiosity which is funny in itself. I had a lot of people ask what we were doing and they said they didn't know about the tour and how to sign up.

We did the FMT in October and had a BLAST! Like others said, get into it, play around, just have fun, it will be great! Our son was almost 5 when we did it. I could see us doing it again in a few years! :sunny:

We've done it twice - once with each daughter when they were 5-6. It was great! You should have at least one parent actually on the tour, but f the other one just wants to hang back and take pictures, that's fine too. Of course, if all the adults want to, they can have a great time acting up in the MK!

The experience is different depending on how crowded it is. If there are a lot of people on the tour it tends to be just the tour. When we went with our youngest daughter though, it was just her and one other on the tour. This was really great. We rode 2 rides (Pirates and Peter Pan) and the two girls on the tour actually rode Peter Pan WITH Peter Pan! Obviously, they can only do that sort of thing when the tour doesn't have a lot of people and the parks are not very crowded.

The character involved varies - first time it was Aladdin and the second it was Peter Pan. In any case, no matter what you get a good deal of "face time" with the character at the end.

Both our daughters loved it, and the parent watching much enjoyed the other one hopping, crawling and making like an aligator through the MK!

Sorry it took me a while to get back to this thread.

Thanks all for the replies. I think we are now convinced to try this.

One other question, on average, how long does the FMT last?

Our family did this on our last trip. Our kids were 11 and 13. The group we were with was pretty large, around 15 or more. The families with smaller kids were having a ball. Our kids felt kind of out of place. We are go with the flow kind of people. It was nice but the younger the better imho. As I have always said over the years,"experience it for yourself, different strokes for different folks".
