A few weeks ago I just happened upon a free demo at my Local Stamping Store. I do a bit of stamping along with my scrapping but it is just a simple ink application. This was an hour and a half of pure knowledge. I know I only retained 20% of what she demonstrated but what I retained was fantastic. Of course I had to buy a few things to try out some of the technique she showed. I went back and took a friend the following week. Another eye opener. Wow! I am going back again today for the 3rd demo. I had no idea there was another complete parallel world out there just waiting for me.

I swore I would NEVER stamp, yet here I am owning several hundred stamps and even going so far as to become a CTMH
consultant. LOL Never say never!

Enjoy!

Stamping was how I was introduced to scrapping WAY back when...before I got married and still lived at home, my mom and I had a DOTS party. We both got hooked on it, and then she signed to be a consultant. At that time DOTS was just introducing Close to My Heart scrapbook supplies. I bought two albums (this is 1995) and was hooked...I started with my wedding album, then did a trip to Hawaii...I was already into it with DS#1 arrived. Now I never stamp anymore, but still am a devoted scrapper!

I am a stamper want to be. I have tried several times and I am horrible at it. I did some embossing in the character swap (tinker bell border) and it took me forever due to mistakes. I will not give up because I like the way it looks.

Like Alice, stamping is how I found scrapping... and through DOTS/CTMH nonetheless... LOL!! Since I picked up scrapping, I sold all my stamps and supplies. I don't have time for both. I loved to stamp, but I gave away all my work. With scrapping, my kids will have books of memories one day.

Alice... we were before our time... LOL!

I dabble in stamping. I had been very good about only buying a few stamps I thought were the most versatile until I found alphabet stamps! Of course then there is embossing and versamark too! I just love the way they look in my scrapbook. Sometime I would like to go to a Stampin Up party but I am afraid to, I would spend too much money!

I have just been astonished at how many different kinds of ink there are available and the different effects you can get from each one without even using a stamp. I am going to try to hold myself down on spending to what I can use in my scrapbooks. although It looks like stamping is an even more expensive hobby then scrapping

I love stamping! I especially love the alphabet sets. :D I think I now own 4 of those and who knows how many other rubber stamps! Love using them all in my scrapbooks. :D maggie

NOPE! I know it would do the check book in if I ever started to stamp! I did make cards once, my son's birth announcements..nearly burnt the house down. I didn't want to spend the money on an embossing gun especially since i had a paint stripping gun in the house! SO needless to say it was a pain staking chore not to burn the paper and make them look nice...

When I got into scrapbooking I was anti stamping--would never do it. Even after I joined Club Scrap--I would sell of give away the stamps that came with the kits. Last year I discovered the joys of alphabet stamps. I currently own 3 sets with more on the way! and am a part of a 6 month hostess club for Stampin Up! I am really just learning about layering, background stamps, etc. but they are so versitile and so much easier than alphabet stickers or running to my computer for page titles!!!!

I just hosted a Stampin' Up party last night. We had a great time and I love the stamps. I scrapbook so I plan on using them for that not so much for making cards but you never know it is so addicting.

I really want to go to some stamping classes, but I'm afraid after I did I'd spend WAY too much money.

One of my friends hosted a Stampin Up party and we had a good time. I started out buying the versamark and the pastels and some snowflake stamp kit to make our Christmas cards this year. I had a lot of fun!

The consultant had an all day event where we made 20 cards and a calendar. It was interesting to see all the various techniques. I bought 2 more sets of stamps. I try to avoid that aisle when I'm at Michael's or JoAnn's because I don't want to get too into it! I can see where it would be addicting.

However, I think I need to look into the alphabet stamps. I talked myself out of them las time!

I was a stamper before I was a scrapper and now I try to combine the both. I have several hundred stamps in my collection (I am afraid to count them!) and some are over 20 years old.

This is not a put-down, but there are more stamps out there than just Stampin' Up! and the few companies sold at craft stores. If you want to have some fun, keep your eyes out for rubber stamping conventions that are usually held over the summer. (I go to the one in Springfield, MA in June and one in RI in July) At the conventions there are many different vendors - many of them have samples on display. There also demos and classes going on. Lots of fun!

Check out Rubberstampmadness - a real cool magazine. They also have a web site and they may list conventions.

has anyone seen the stamp pads that look like ovals with pointed tips? they are great for inking small sections of stamps one color and another section a different color. all the embossing powder out there is awesome. so many shades! i love stamping so much that i stamped my bathroom walss with a swirly foam wall stamp and pink paint. it turned out nice, but it was hard to get the stamp to line up straight and not to smudge paint. has anyone else stamped a wall in their house?

Yes, Daisymae26, They are called Colorbox petal points. I love them. The colors are generally from one color palette or family. Some are grouped together for a particular technique. I have been buying them in order to grow my pigment ink colors more quickly. They comes out to about $2 a color and I can always buy the re-inkers for the ones I use more often. I like to take the petals and blend them directly onto the cardstock to make backgrounds to use for borders and matching punches. It's the first technique I learned and probably my favorite so far.

there are two stores near Harrisburg PA that are stamping stores (although they carry small amounts of scrapbooking supplies). I am always in awe when I go in there and see the hundreds and hundreds of stamps lining the walls!!!

Stamps are my favorite embellishment for scrap booking. I use a stamp or ink on almost every page. I like the look of edging a card stock frame with ink to give it a double matted look with out the bulk. For those of you thinking about getting alpha stamps check into them first. My favorites are Stampendous. Rather then have individual letters to stamp, you build a word letter by letter and set them on an acrylic block. The sets run about $15.00. About 90% of my ink is pigment because I like to emboss also.

Ohhhhhhhh stamping is DANGEROUS! It starts so simply, perhaps an afternoon at a Stampin Up party. Then before you turn around you are remodeling a home office/craft room with new furniture/work tables, both standing and sitting/special lamps/storage trays for your supplies/built in shelves in the closet.....very, very dangerous!

And now that everything is finally put away....I haven't made anything yet this year! Don't worry, I'm now taking a calligraphy class to get the juices flowing again!::yes::
