Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

We were there last year Thursday - Tuesday over the MLK weekend. Thursday was wonderful and we felt like we had MGM to ourselves. I think we did! :) As the days went on it was much busier with the busiest days being Sat-Mon. It was no where near Easter standards, so don't worry about that! The parks do close earlier that time of year, but it gave us lots of time to explore AKL, hang out in the lounge, and we actually made it for EE a few times! The weather was cold that week, even by Florida standards, but I found myself taking off the layers as noon hit. I was glad to have a fleece and/or hockey jersey once the sun went down.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Kerry, Steve and Donna and Minniesota>> Have a wonderful DISNEY trip!

How can I add a counter to my posts?

Well, I have exciting news...my hubby has informed me that he is going hunting next November (2005) so I will be returning to WDW for a "girlie" trip while he's gone! We're going to the WL this year, for Thanksgiving Week, which means I get to start planning a second trip....in less than a year....WOOOOO-WOOOO!

:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Our next trip is in 3 1/2 weeks and then we will be headed back in the spring. :Pinkbounc

My DH will be in Jax for a few months and I will take all 3 DS's by myself for a visit. Of course, there will be a trip to the world. Can't decide if we should visit in the middle of May or the end of June. Our AP's expire 7/9. What to do? We will be moving next summer and might not get down to the world for about 2 years (yikes!) so I want the trip to be extra special.

Need to decide when to go and where to stay. Is the GF CL okay for kids? DS's 7,6, and 2 1/2 then.

Thanks for the input.

VAgal76- Thanks for the help on WL. We have stayed there before, so I am aware of how small the rooms are. But I can't help myself, I love that resort. :p Really looking forward to the YC. Never stayed there before.

Great trip! My AP started on November 15th. It has been a big joke in my family but it actually happened due to a conference I had in Tampa, then my mother picking me up so I could take her to Disney! My father watched the kids while DH went hunting, and I visited the Mouse with mom! I wish I could go this year, but in all actuality someone has to b here for the kids' stuff, and I can guarantee it won't be dh since he'll be gone for 10 days. (and he's been gone every other weekend since July 1st!)

Wish I could join you!
Debbie

GoofySuse there's a thread on the technical support board that will guide you through getting your counter step by step. Try rhis:counter help

floridafam - so sorry about your change in plans! How disappointed you must be. A trip in January will be wonderful, though. We took our niece last Jan. and it was such a treat to have something to look forward to after the post-holiday doldrums.

WELCOME to everyone I haven't "met" yet - Mickey Fliers, Disneynotes, Queen of4hearts - hope you'll enjoy the lounge as much as I do.

Look at my counter!!!! I'm jumping, I'm dancing, I've got to get "grown-up" before I go to work!

Steveanddonna,

Thanks for the welcome. I now feel like an official lounge lizard. I do need to stay in Concierge more than the one time though!!

Ead79,

Thanks for reposting your report. Very good! I have one question I don't know if you can help me with. DH must have a balcony, which means I must have a balcony also (for my sanity). He gets claustrophobic w/out one. You said that your room did not have a balcony, is this just w/ the turret hm suite or can regular CR and deluxe CR possibly not have a balcony? Thanks, I don't know if I would need to put this down as a request.

We would be getting 2 connecting CR rooms.

queenof4hearts-I'm not a pro like Tammi or some of the others but we stayed in a regular concierge room in the RPC at GF last year and we had a full balcony. It was my impressions that none of those turret rooms had balconies. We had a beautiful MK view also.
Hey, look at my counter. Looks like I might be there with steveanddonna! Catch ya on the monorail. I'm getting so excited although I woke up today with the start of the crud:mad: and my DD still has a horrible lingering cough.
Welcome to all of the new lounge lizards-stick around-have some pastries, bagels, donuts and some hot coffee that I've left out.

Thanks for the lovely welcome. The coffee is delicious.

I am now waiting to hear from the IP from WL about what kind of "special" treats that can have waiting in our room upon check-in. I hope they can do something good. Of couse, I made all my PS arrangements before I upgraded to CL. :(

Any ideas on how to make the next 23 days go by any faster. I haven't even taken this trip and I am already planning the next one. :teeth:

Which CL should be choose, GF, YC, CR, or BC?

Looking at May or late June.

Alright so I have a counter! Wooo-wooo!

Thank you stevendonna! I appreciate the help!

I tried to add a second one but it doesn't work, that's ok...I'll put the new one up when we return in December!

Thank you for everyone's baby advice. I am trying to stay well hydrated to keep the headaches away.

I made the switch with AKL. We are no longer checking in on Christmas Eve. :(

We are going to try and go for the MLK holiday weekend. The 1br suite was booked already so I am going to keep trying.

Hopefully, we will be in our new house for Christmas. Our insepction is today so I hope everything goes well. We went to look at houses the other day and I stepped in a huge fire ant mound. I have to go out and buy new shoes because I wouldn't put my other ones back on. Now I know the pain everyone is talking about when they talk about fire ants. YUCK!

GoofySuse,

It looks like you are going to give WL a try. If you have any problems with the IPO staff, don't be afraid to go to the top.

If you are unhappy with anything during your trip, don't be afraid to ask for the Manager. He is very nice. We talked to him last May and he seems very calm and very interested in feedback regarding his staff.

FloridaFam

Yes, we've decided to stay where we are. I have a funny feeling that after all of the correspondence people will be bending over backwards to make our stay special. As I have stated Valerie (the Director of Operations for all of Guest Services @ WL) is lovely and she is now in direct contact with Mark Newman, Concierge Manager and IPO...which might just help. We shall see.

Here's hoping! ~S~

OUCH! To your fire ant situation...we had them when we lived in Texas, they are the worst! My poodle stepped in a huge mound @ Lake Houston I picked him up and tossed him in the lake, trying to get them off of him...the poor little guy was so sick. He was in the vet's hospital for nearly a week! Don't let it get out of control, go to the Dr.!

Now in Idaho we have the pleasure of Hobo Spiders...horrible creatures.

DF - I know what you need....another daughter to dote on princess: . You know, I'm sure all of us ladies are available - LOL! A day at the spa sounds so inviting. I'm waiting for December for our ladies day at the spa here for our Christmas party. :hyper: It's a formal affair and we typically stay overnight and make a total evening out of it. By the way, yes, I wash my hair before going to the hairdresser, I do pull over the covers on the bed but do not completely make it up and I do put used towels in a neat pile for housekeeping. I don't want them to think I'm pig pen when they come into the room. :earseek: You got me on the folding the wash cloth thing, but I don't think it's overboard.

:rotfl: From your keyboard to God's ears!!! *(BITE MY TONGUE! Be careful what you TYPE for!! LOL) :p

We had a great day! (It's a "GIRL'S WORLD" Day!) The pedi was SO fab...the hot wax, and seaweed wrap was "heaven" on the tootsies! The manicure also involved the wax and wrap...and both massages were "dreamy." ::yes:: Full body massage...and wrap, plus "hydro-therapy" was about all I needed to put me in a FULL SLEEP (LOL). Lunch was exotic and healthy...Coconut crusted tofu over wild greens/flowers, wasabi udon noodles with spiced tiger shrimp, royal crab salad in beefsteak vine ripened tomato, fresh banana cream pudding/butterscotch chip eclaire w/whip & caramel sauce, vanilla bean Haagen Daz I.C. (OK...maybe the dessert was NOT lo-cal!!). Chai latte and sunny peach tea, mineral water, etc. It was GREAT. :teeth: DD had her hair highlighted with honey, cut and styled like Roxanne on American Dreams. This is how she wears her hair to school, in a classic FLIP. It's so clean and cute, especially with the catholic uniform and mary janes! She just LOVED the stylist, and all the "pampering" and massaging. She was beaming each time I glanced at her, and/or chatted. We also bought half the supplies/products used during our treatments!! (I ALWAYS do this...). We even have photos of our day, as "mother-daughter" memories. We left the SPA and went shopping (What else), at the Beverly Center for some early Christmas/Pre-EUROPE trip items! At the end of the day...we needed another treatment~! (LOL). DH is such a doll...he stopped by An Italian restaurant and brought home some TREATS for dinner~ Lasagne, spaghetti, ravioli, and their toasted italian bread specialty (with roasted red peppers, garlic, sun dried tomatoes, fresh herbs, chopped olives and artichoke hearts...under a layer of freshly grated parmesean and mozz)...MMMMmmm! The soup (minestrone) was also yummy. So...yesterday was a FULL day of REST & RELAXATION. ;)

floridafam~So sorry about the headaches, and the switch too. :(

steveanddonna~Love the COUNTER TOO!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

ead79~I LOVED reading your re-post of your GF stay last December! What a beautiful description...I felt as if I was on a private tour with you as the host. ;) Right now, if I sit here and close my eyes, I can envision the WORLD this very moment...as people hustle and bustle about the MAGIC. All the sounds, sights and scents...the music and laughter. The sunsets...which have changed since our summer visit...the amber glow of the lamps at night, and lights from the guest rooms of each resort. I can hardly wait to return, and FIND ourselves again. Thanks...for the memories. :goodvibes

Spoke with GF IPO today. I gave them my C.C.# and ordered just a few small things to have in the room for the kids when we arrive. I ordered them each a stuffed Stitch and autograph books and pens. I figure they'll want to pick out their own stuff anyway. The woman who answered the phone was nice but seemed to be in an EXTREME hurry. Don't know what was with that-maybe I just called at a busy time. I've also e-mailed BC IPO about my transfers which I kept forgetting to book because DD has been very sick. Hopefully I wont be walking to the GF from MCO-LOL.
Oh. dreamflight99-your day at the spa sounded so wonderful. I'm going on Tuesday for a massage and pedicure to get myself ready for the trip. ;) I took my DD last year on her B-day(she was only 4-lol) for a mini pedicure. She loved it. Can't wait to take her again. I'm spoiling her early. HeHe.
I'm thinking I should have made a few more P.S. thru IPO, but I don't know what else I should book for. I am sometimes one of those last minute people if you know what I mean. IPO will probably be able to help me when I arrive, right? I usually do everything myself, but things are so hectic around here.
Can anyone help an absent-minded mother of two and remind me if I've forgotten anything?

queenof4hearts, the honeymoon turret rooms do not have balconies. However, there is a second type of honeymoon room that does have a balcony (as well as a jucuzzi tub). Those are located on a secluded area of the 2nd floor. I believe that the regular rooms and deluxe rooms in the main building all have balconies as well. Hope that makes sense. :)

Samnbilly, I can almost "hear" the panic in your post. Just take a deep breath and go over your list.

A. Suitcases packed
B. Travel documents, ie: plane tickets, ID, resort confirmation, transfer confirmation. (Don't forget phone numbers, just in case)
C. Disney related tickets, ie: MNSSHP tickets, AP's, itinerary from your IPO department
D. I normally do up all my tip envelopes ahead of time also. That way I can hit the bank for the necessary $1's and $5's. I label each envelope with the service and date, then stash them in the room safe until needed. If DD is still feeling under the weather, this is a good arts & crafts project for her. My DD used colored pencils and stickers to decorate each envelope.
E. Arrange transportation to your airport if necessary

When you arrive, the concierge CM's will be happy to assist you with any last minute changes or additions that you have for your ps's. I would also follow up with the GF just to ensure that your gifts have been taken care of. It would make me a bit nervous to have a CM taking the order that sounded "hurried".

Have a wonderful trip, I can't wait to hear all about it.
Tammi

steveanddonna,
Thanks for the welcome. Have a lovely Poly trip. We check in there on the 25th of November.
