SteveandDonna...I too get an error that I am not the owner when I try to look at the pictures. I had already forgotten about the mouse poop story!! But now I am still laughing about it!

Just a few more questions about GF-Sugar Loaf. Has anyone stayed there recently? I'm interested in the rooms-which floor you stayed on-facing the pool ? The last time I stayed in SL I was on the first floor and I didn't really care for it(being by the snacks, etc) Has anyone ever paid to upgrade to main bldg or ever been offered an upgrade to main bldg? Last time we stayed in RPC (loved it) but was unable to get that ressie this time:sad:
So far, the IPO has been good-they have even offerred to have other snacks for my 5y.o. DD who has a severe peanut allergy, which has been nice. My kids are SO excited we're doing concierge again-What am I doing to these kids? They are too little to know the word concierge-aren't they? NAH

Yeah! I saw pictures! Everyone looks so happy! I wish I could have been there with you! I have only seen the tail end of EWP. It looked great in the photos! It is so wonderful to put faces with names and you all look fabulous! I had a great time at our sorority meet, and hope to add a lizard meet in the future!

Thanks steveanddonna really nice pics. I agree with hockeymom that it is nice to associate faces with the people I have been communicating with all these months.

Lizards are a beautiful people....everyone looked great and the happiness was evident in every face! :wave2:

Samnbilly,

I haven't been to the lodge for a few years, but when we stayed, we had a marina view room on the 3rd floor. It was very nice. I loved being able to hear the sounds from the Magic Kingdom. Your best bet is to not request a specific room number, but give them a list of items that you're looking for by priority. For instance, if you really don't want to be on the 1st floor, then request a high floor, near or far from the elevator, with marina or pool view. If you give them only a room number and it's not available, then the room assignor could pretty much put you anywhere because you didn't list any specific requests.

As for upgrading to the main building, it sounds like you already tried to get a reservation there and it was full. You can request to be put on the wait list and if something opens up before you go, you could get a call. The only thing is, that being this close to your reservation, the room will probably only be available at rack rate. You'd have to pay the difference between your rate and the rack. The only upgrade that the GF normally "offers" at check-in is a garden view to a lagoon view on their standard rooms.

My youngest DD is 8 and I pity the man she ends up with. She doesn't know anything but concierge and now that we've taken a cruise, she won't order a meal at a restaurant without having an appetizer first. She's a princess.

The GF is my favorite, but I'm being treated like royality by the IPO at the Yacht Club. I just received a big packet from them, complete with guides for all the parks, resort information, guest information and an itinerary questionnaire. Plus, she has been fantastic via e-mail. I really wish the GF would incorporate this process.

Are some rooms better than others? 5th or 6th floor? Can you get beer in the lounge? (My husband wants to know) Any other hints that might be useful? I have the sunrise safari already booked.
Well that all for the first round. Thanks!!!:wave2: :wave2:

LOL!! Yeah, we're a talkative group!! ;) I have to agree with everything #1hockeymom said (partly because she's my long-lost twin!) and would just add that DD and I stayed on the 6th floor, very near the lounge, and really liked the convenience. But, we looked out over the Sunset Savanna, which is smaller than the others. Also, on the 6th floor you're really high above the animals, so a little removed. I think #1hm's room choice is the best for animal viewing. Ohhh, you're making me wish we had booked AKL for our trip next week!

BTW - I'm just down the road from you in Clinton! Hey, neighbor!

steveanddonna - GREAT pictures!!! You guys are so cute!:teeth:

Debbie - Glad your dentist trip went well! Look at my counter, look at my counter!:Pinkbounc

Thanks TammiMcMan for all of your info. We were actually first booked at the BC -concierge and then I switched back to the GF, just for the convenience of being close to the MK-and we do love it there. We booked on the 5+2 package, so there were no more rooms in the RPC with that package. Have you ever gotten concierge at any level at GF with an AP-just curious. Also, have you ever eaten at Citricos any other restaurants there. Sorry to ask so many questions but I feel like we keep doing the SAME things while were there. You'll have to let me know how the YC is-maybe next time.

I just called my mother and told her to BOOK AKL NOW! I of course, can't get her to budge! They are not leaving (live between Venice and Englewood, Fl) even though they are in a low area. I am not real happy with this decision but there is nothing I can do about it from here. They have boarded everything up and moved all of their bonsai stock inside, along with having all of their important papers in a dry easy to access place. My aunt is in Sarasota, but in a higher area and is trying to talk them into coming up, along with my grandparents trying to get them to come straight across the state to their place. Arghh! It is only stuff!

I hope and pray everyone stays safe who lives there, and who is visiting this week,

Debbie

Debbie-how frustrating for you! Not is it only just stuff but what do they think they can do if they stay? They can't stop the wind and rain can they? Sending prayers to your family and all else in FL.

Thanks #1hockeymom for your reply. We have stayed at other resorts before but until I found these boards I didn't know what I was missing!
This time I thought we would stay at AKL to celebrate DH turning 60, me 50 and our 30th wedding anv. THE BIG OOOOO,S. Also we have never been at christmas. For me what a treat. I have also arranged for a present to be in our room for our DS to help get him in the disney christmas spirit.
Thanks Again !!!!
PS: good luck to your family.

MOUSE POOP!!!!!!:earseek: :rotfl:

Here's the story......
That was when we were at the BC CL!
Mom went to get ice and noticed that inside the bucket there were some "droppings"! ACK!
She freaked out and I went to investigate.
I found more "droppings" and after looking at them more closely, and even putting my nose close to one, (double ACK!), I came to the conclusion that it was chocolate sprinkles!
Then, after looking behind the desk, I discovered chunks of what was probably left behind from a choc cupcake.
Called CL, they sent someone right away and we were laughing so hard when "mouse"keeping came in to clean it all up.

Had to be there to see our faces! :cake: :faint:

Sorry that I haven't been around!
My brother/SIL were in an accident and I am taking care of my three nieces and business and getting them ALL ready for school.
:( :( :(
DS and DSIL are going to be fine, but financially this will set them back, so Aunt Tamby is taking care of some things for the girl's school....can you believe they go back on Monday?????

I haven't downloaded all the pics, but this weekend, I'll try to complete a new album and start a LIZARD ALBUM with pics from Janet2k's party, our last Wanyama and MK dessert party with Vagal, and this last wonderful mini meet at the Poly!::yes::

steveanndonna...thank you for giving the gang something to look at.....:teeth:
And yes, we have a GREAT GROUP here on this thread!
And more lizards too!
WELCOME nrsldy !!!!!:bounce:

GoofyJoofy....BC CL has improved their dessert offerings and evening goodies!
When we were there, steamed clams, stone crab (Yep!), fish'n chips, marinara pasta, pork sausage with peppers/onions (very good!), and good ol' mac n cheese were some of the hot dishes!

Yummy! Yummy! Yummy!
Anything you wanted, ask and they would accomdate your wishes!

mmausse...I've sent you a PM.

YA'LL in FLORIDA batten down the hatches for Charley!
Sending positive prayers and thoughts!!!!

See ya'll later!

:grouphug:

BT, I loved the mouse poop story, LOL! You're a braver woman than I am to stick your nose up to it! :teeth:

Just talked to Amy in YC IPO. She said they are closing the parks at 1:00 pm and will have only limited staff at the hotels. The concierge lounge is closing and they are sending cast members home. She also said that the Yacht Club Galley and Cape May will be the only places to get food there and they will be serving a non-stop continuous buffet. Good luck to all the dis'ers in Fla. waiting for Charley.

Samnbilly,

I don't have AP's, but I've read threads where others have gotten the GF concierge. They seem to be few and far between though. Did you book with a travel agent? I've been using Dreams Unlimited for our past couple of trips and they've been excellent with constantly looking for discounts or codes. If you don't have a TA, then it's probably still worthwhile to check in with CRO once a day. You never know when something might pop up.

My favorite restaurant there is the GF Cafe. I love the casual atmosphere and now that they are open for dinner again, it makes for a great option. Narcoossee's has very good food and the view is beautiful. It does tend to get noisy though, so not the best choice if you're looking for romance. Citrico's is quieter and a little more upscale. I haven't eaten at Victoria & Alberts yet and we've only done 1900 Park Faire for the character breakfast buffet. That's very cute though and the food is excellent.

A nice thing about staying in the lodge concierge is that's very convenient if you're hanging out at the pool and you want to go back for a cool drink or a snack.

So far I'm really pleased with the service at the YC. Last year my DH and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at the GF. I was trying to plan something special and was looking for idea's from the pre-planners there. It was like pulling teeth. They never really volunteered any suggestions and I just ended up doing my own thing. When we got there however, we got a beautiful room and a few special treats in the room from the concierge staff, so it was really just the pre-planning that I wasn't impressed with. Annalisa at the Yacht Club seems to be reading my mind though and she's sending me e-mails with suggestions before I've even asked. Quite an amazing level of customer service and I'll definitely be passing my compliments along to her supervisor.

Let me know if I can offer anything else.

Tammi
