Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

nrsldy my DH hasn't let me leave him home yet! He's the original WDW addict in our family. That will change with the May lizard meet, though I'll probably owe him a golf weekend after that! Sometimes we go as just a couple, sometimes we bring family members. We have been taking each of our nieces and nephews between their 4th & 5th birthdays - that's always a lot of fun! We have taken my 80-something aunts, my BIL and his wife right after they moved back to the states from Tokyo, DH's cousin and her daughter; my MIL & FIL will join us on our October trip. We very nearly ended up bringing our diabetic cat last year when we couldn't find a petsitter who did insulin injections. Thank goodness we found someone reliable! We find that every trip brings us a different perspective and helps us find a new kind of magic in WDW.

I feel just awful for not checking in sooner. It's been a very crazy couple of weeks.

Here's the latest...

DS had his sedated hearing test which revealed a significant hearing loss. He had had prior testing but those left room for error. This test was definitive. He will be fitted for hearing aids next week, and will wear them for the rest of his life. It came as a bit of a shock to us.

I've been having more problems with the pregnancy. I am now on STRICT bedrest. Not only is this extremely high risk, but the condition is not common. Two of the specialists I've seen are not especially optimistic about a good outcome, although women with this have had good outcomes.

I'd hoped to check in with all of you sooner, but we've not been at our house much as I've been staying with the kids at various relative's houses. We've hired a helper now (since DS is starting preschool) and I should be "around" more. I'll catch up on all the the posts I've missed eventually. I'll try to start tonight. I hope all the Lizards are doing well. P and PD to all those in need.

I hope the mini-lizard meet was a blast!!!!!! :sunny:

We always came as a family, until this year! A year ago June, all was semi normal and we were all at the Swan Club level for a week. A conference put me in Tampa last November, so I took my mom to Disney during the last two days! She loved it, I loved it, and there was no turning back! Of course, had to use that annual pass that I bought knowing all of us would be there during Easter, so I took DS in January for a long weekend and his first concierge trip. We all went during Easter (now hooked on concierge), minus our daughter who went with her friends on Spring Break. Then of course, there was the sorority meet (can't do that without club level and concierge LOL). DD's graduation present was the trip to Disney, I was going for the meet, and DS came because he still loves it there! We left DH at home which was just fine with him since he spent most of the week up north at the cabin. I need to go back and I don't see it happening any time soon!
You've come to the right place, Nrsldy! We're all NORMAL! :) :) :) It is the rest of the world that is insane, right lizards?

Happy middle of the week!
Debbie

Just wanted to thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experience on this thread!

When I first found the DIS and the original "Have you been bitten..." thread, our trip was more than 180 days out. Since that time, I've checked in now and then, watched the birth of the new "Lizard Lounge", and now our family trip to BC CL is less than 5 days away! :Pinkbounc

I'm more of a browse type than a chat type (at least on-line ! ;) ) but occasional trips to the Lounge have made the time pass so much more quickly, plus there's always something new to learn here. Never thought planning a trip could be so much fun! Actually my job has only been "THINKING UP the plan"... my favorite part is when the IPO Staff says, "All set, Mrs. Goofy... can we do anything else for you?" :hyper: ::yes:: And they'll even FEED my crew?? How awesome is that??!! :earseek:

So again thank for all your words of wisdom for us newbies!
Pixie dust to all! :thewave:

Has anyone heard how KerryCM did today in surgery?::MinnieMo

samnbilly...glad everything went smoothly and you're at home!:wave2:

WoodyRU...lots of  Just keep in touch!
And....you know how to use that phone if you need to talk to any one of us.::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Lots of goodies out for everyone! Help yourselves!

I'm back. I can see-sort of. Still blurry. Woody-we miss you and pray for you and your family everyday-hang in there. I'll be glad to meet you at the GF anytime!
Goofy-I live in Barnegat now-by Long Beach Island, but I grew up in Jackson. Maybe we've met? You never know.
Well hope the rest of you are well. I'm going back to rest my eyes so I can hopefully drive tomorrow-Stacey

WoodysRoundUp - Glad to hear from you Woody! I will be sending prayers and pixie dust to you and your family!

Hey nurselady, welcome to the Lounge. We're glad to see you! And YES to all your questions, my parents and siblings have given up all hope on my addiction to Disney. I told them it beats alcohol and drugs......:earseek:

GoofyJoofy - so where in Jersey do you originally hail from? I was born on a little beach between Belmar and Sea Girt......

As for the Lizard Meet - I want May!:Pinkbounc :bounce: So BT how are you going to handle who goes where. Need any help, just let me know. I have a little spare time on my hands now.

I apologize to Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart for my liberal use of their Theme Song for the Monkees. But IT "seemed" so perfect.

As for KerryCM, I spoke with the hospital about a half hour ago. They seem to think she'll be released in less than 3 days. That's all they'd tell me because of HIPAA.

I was sorry to hear about Jackie and Scott's respective houses. But VERY glad no injuries.

So let me know what's next for the May Lizard Meet.

Does anyone have any special Disney plans for Halloween (other than those lucky ones who get to go to WDW to celebrate MNSSHP)?

Thanks for joining us Goofy'sMuse! That makes two husband/wife teams on our thread. Gotta go tell captainconcierge.

Woody, dear, I'm so sorry you had such a grim prognosis, but keep believing in the power of prayer & positive thinking. Sending all the PD I can gather your way. I'm glad they fitted your son with hearind aids - this will make a huge difference in his young life; early intervention is a wonderful thing. I left a msg. on your cell; call if you feel the need to vent.

Having trouble with Poly IPO again. What a disappointment after such a terrific trip. Anyone else having difficulty getting a response from them?

Good morning all!

Woody...sending prayers and PD your way! It was good to hear from you...keep us posted.

Mmausse...thanks for the update on KerryCM...I was thinking about her on my way to work this morning.

I am already in withdrawal BAD!! (Mmausse....although it is a better addiction than drugs and alcohol, it probably is as expensive....can't you just see the headlines...Woman arrested for robbing liquor store to fund Disney Concierge trip

:hyper: ) I was trying to go again for cheap short trip at fall break (late Oct) or the week before Christmas....but doesn't look like that will happen. Oh well....there will be other times.

Have a great day all!

Lynn

Woody, I am sorry to hear that the doctors are not overly optimistic. My prayers remain with your family and with you. Please don't hesitate to send me a PM or email if you need anything at all.

samnbilly & mmausse - I grew up and lived in Paramus (home of the shopping center) until I moved to MA in the early 80's

mmausse - Born on the beach, how way cool - would that be in the Spring Lake area? We used to vacation with my BIL in Avon

samnbilly - My folks now live in Lakewood and boy do I remember the Barnegat Light House. We spent several years vacationing in Long Beach Island (Beach Haven I think).

Of course we have vacationed in every place from Sandy Hook to Wildwood & Cape May (Asbury, Pt. Pleasant, Seaside Heights, Atlantic City, etc. etc. etc.)
OK, enough reminiscing, lets get back to Concierge and Lizards

That is funny!
Sorry you won't be able to make a trip at Fall Break or Early Christmas. But hey, there is always next summer's Lizard Meet at the AKL.

Sorry to hear about Jackie and Scott. I am sure there are other CMs that have helped us all have wonderful vacations and memories with their PD. BIG :grouphug: :grouphug: for everyone in FL that is now dealing with clean-up and re-building.

Good Morning Lizards,

steveanddonna: Not getting a prompt response from Poly IPO is the number one reason we decided to downgrade. I really didn't find that service to be all that helpful. I never received a call back and it would take almost a week to get a response to a simple request. I have heard that some people get a really quick response and some don't. I also think that it's ridiculous that you would have to contact them first. They should be contacting you first especially since it costs you alot of money to stay concierge. Just my 2 cents.

7 more days.......................................
:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Steveanddonna...forgot to post this....when we all were at the Poly a few weeks ago, Tara mentioned that she was leaving for vacation for 2 weeks...maybe it is just Melissa at IPO right now. Or maybe they are in the middle of all the IPO changes we keep hearing rumors about.

Have a happy afternoon...off to school "roundup" in a little...get to find out who DS has for a teacher and talk to them, etc...

Leaving YUMMY cookies and fruit for an afternoon snack!

GOOFY JOOFY ARE YOU PACKED YET!!!!!!!

Lynn

Tammy I agree about Poly IPO, but the problems have been sporadic. It seems to depend on who picks up your e-mail/voicemail first. Unfortunately, some of the planners are more conscientious than others. I know that their IPO is also way overworked and understaffed (same as in the "real" world, huh?) so I try not to let it bug me too much.

Thanks for the info cajunfan. Tara is back from her vacation as she e-mailed me today. They are probably playing catch-up now. I think Marilyn, Melissa and Ellen (?) are also in Poly IPO now. Hope your DS gets the "lesser of two evils" as far as the teachers are concerned.

Donna-I had emailed Poly IPO on Tuesday afternoon and heard back Wednesday. I responded to that email and heard back first thing this morning. It has all been with Tara. And today I got a Pooh photo for Lizzie via Fedex. They had told me they'd send it back in July so I was happy to get it today. I don't plan on telling the kids just yet but thought if Lizzie has a tough few days starting Kindergarten it might be nice to be able to cheer her up by telling her she's going to Disney. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

My little miss Emma had her evaluation today and they do think she could use a "push". They said her understanding of language is on target but she doesn't mimick as often or have as many sounds as they like to see at her age. They will send someone to our house every week to work with her. Hopefully she'll develop a relationship with this person. She is so shy-even with us at times. She didn't utter a sound-other than laughter(I'm so glad she's not afraid to laugh!)-for more than an hour with them here. But she does have lots of other ways to express herself-she changes the pace of her breathing, she says a lot with her eyes or simply turns away when she's had enough.

Woody-still thinking of you and your family and sending lots of Prayers and PD your way.

Yes, Goofy, THAT would be Spring Lake, where I was born. It's funny now, for me to live in a Southern State and have a southern accent - I've lived in VA for over 30 years. When my class (I used to teach) would ask where I was originally from and I'd say NJ, they would call me the Southern Yankee :earseek: :earseek:!

OK, enough reminiscing, lets get back to Concierge and Lizards

Cajunfan ROTFL :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: . Perhaps if that actually happened, Eisner might lower the ticket prices......

Oops, sorry, for a moment I thought I was in the real world.:teeth:

Hi all,

I have been reading this thread, but this is my 1st post.

MMausse - it caught my eye that you were born in Spring Lake, NJ.
This is where I work! Beautiful town.

I will be in Disney 11-27-04 through 12-06-04 (9 nights). First 2 nights at AKL Savannah view, and the next 7 nights at Poly LVC. This will be a first concierge experience for us. Not staying concierge at AKL, but wish I could afford to! This is our 25th wedding anniversay and DH and I are greatly looking forward to this trip. We have been to Disney many times during July-August, but never in December. We have never been to Florida in the winter months.

Thanks for sharing all your experiences.

Pat
