Lots of prayers and PD for Kerry!
I hope Alice is having a great time, and Tammy is about to go!

YES YES YES I am up for an AKL meet this summer! I've been banned from making reservations, but i've been banned before and managed to squeeze a few in! :) We might even be making the sorority party an annual thing so we could do a combo lizard/sorority (and a few honorary fraternity lizard brothers of course bash! There are many of us on both threads! Did I say bash? :)

I LOVE the pictures! Smiles are everywhere and the happiness is evident! I had a thought today during an inservice (don't scold me for thinking about Disney!) I think we're really just extending our own families through the net and subsequent meetings. Families are smaller now- I've never had a cousin, and my net friends (I have a few different groups of them) are like an extension of my family. I guess I'm going down to Disney to see my cousins! I go to LA/Dallas/where ever to see my other cousins.. etc, etc. I am totally rambling, sorry! To get back to the point, it is so good for people to be able to share their joys and sorrows with each other. (There is a very deep thought in there somewhere - if someone can find it let me know!)

Mmause>> Get some rest and therapy and you'll be raring to go for the May meet!

Off to make dinner before I have other deep thoughts that make no sense!
Debbie

I started following this thread after someone on another thread suggested that if I had any questions about concerige to ask you guys! Questions have been asked and answered. ThankYou.
It seems that you all have formed a great Disney Bond. That alot of others do not understand. I think I have found my long lost family.
I guess I should introduce myself before asking some personal questions. I am an RN. I work in the emergency room.Have been married for almost 30 yrs. 3 children, 3 grandchildren. Our grandson (10) lives with us.He is my best excuse for going to WDW.
Now for the questions. I hope you don't mind!! Does your Family (DH, adult children) and friends ROLL THIER EYES when you start talking about WDW? Do they lack the same enthusiasm that you do? Do you wonder if you are not the one that needs help? NOT! Do others politely ask about you trip plans but you get the feeling they really don't care? Does your DH tolerates your Passion for WDW? But considers Mickey Mouse " THE OTHER MAN"!!! Do you believe that the only people that share your love of WDW are on the DIS?
I think I am having a midlife crisis ( I just turned 50) I am actually thinking about getting permanent set of Mickey Ears. A tatto. My children think its cool,DH thinks I am crazy. I have considered therapy, thats when I plan another trip to WDW. This time AKL first week of DEC.
Well, Thanks for tolerating my questions. I hope to join you in the Lounge for another drink soon.:drinking:

LOL! Tracey! sit on down, have a drink!

you've finally found your real "home"!!!!:teeth:

BTW....I answered "yes" to all of the above.;) :p

lovesdumbo.....OK, May 15th is on a Sunday. do ya'll want to start at separate rooms and then move to the Steeplechase on Sunday?:scratchin

GoofyJoofy and Debbie...Haven''t even started planning the AKL Lizard Meet. throw me some dates and we'll go from there.
How 'bout around the first week of August!
That will coincide with the SD meet, too, right?

I want to stay in the Royal Assante or Kuba Suite.
We can always add on a bedroom for the guy-lizards!:D

Leaving out some shrimp scampi, duck dumplings, cheeses, crackers, beverages......and lots of napkins!

nrsldy,
yes, yes, yes, YES, YES etc

Lots of us in the same boat. Case in point, I turned 50 in Feb. The day before, I grabbed a cheap weekend far, book CBR for the next day and took my DD to the world. I wanted to see Wishes on my B day. It was great too.

Have to say though, I saw a glimmer of sanity and realized that I was paying way too much for AKL Concierge. The rates were much better last year and decided to downgrade.

Sanity didn't last long as I took the savings and bought airfare for two and 5 nights at POP in October.

Thank God, my APs expire in November!

PS Hi to everyone else, p & pd to all

My 50th birthday was on Aug 4 th. The friday before my husband had planned a suprise party. Which he told me about a week before the party. I had to buy the food, beer and clean the house for the suprise party. Then I saw him picking up my birthday present the day before my birthday, called him on his cell and asked him what he was doing. He asked me where I was I said I had just passed him. He said couldn't I have acted suprised when I got my present. I said no nothing else has been a surprise! Then when we went out with the kids for my B-Day dinner he forgot his walet and I ended up paying for dinner. So after that was all said and done I was looking on the internet for a cheap WDW fix. Didn't happen. So I am now watching the counter. Through this all I am having major power surges.

I am so ready for Disney Therapy!!!!

Here is the CM appreciation note BambiTamby asked me to post - our server at Ohana's really got a kick out of it:

Yes you definately need the fix! And you need to do a birthday trip next year!

mrsnldy>> You need a Disney vacation! It will take all of your troubles away! There is nothing like seeing wishes and tearing up, followed by the rush of finding your "laughin' place", and walking down Main Street at the end of the night with your child (whichever one you can con into going with you) while you are still glowing! (ok, the feet hurt, but the body glows!) BTW, have you checked out the nurse/teacher discount at the Swan/Dolphin? A GREAT deluxe hotel can be had for a lot less money with our discounts!

BT>> I don't want you to have to change plans, but July works better for me if for only the fact that our calendar changes yearly so I don't know when we go back next August. I think a lizard/sorority meet sounds glorious! Oh, I'd love to see the inside of either of those suites! I can still feel the affects of being spoiled by the two bedroom suite!

Hightown>> Enjoy your vacation! Any day in the world is a good day!

Donna>> I love the cards!

Good night everyone! I left out desserts and cordials for all!
Debbie

Good morning all!

nrsldy.....YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!

People actually roll their eyes at me when I start talking Disney. I planned the trip I just got back from..... for us (me, DS10, a friend and her son also 10) and my friend's boyfriend and his two teenage duaghters. One of the teenagers as she left, THANKED me for all the planning....she said they had a great time and was glad that I had done the planning, because they would not have done nearly as much as they did if I had not helped them!

BT...July would work better for me too (AP's expire 7/29)....I want to join the May meet, but that is too close to exam time at school for my son...not a time that I want to be away from home...plus I think he would be CRUSHED if I went to the world without him! :teeth:

I will put out the breakfast goodies for all!

Have a great day!:wave2:

Lynn

Exactly 1 month from today, we'll be check'n into the 14th floor at the CR!! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

:cool1: :jumping1: :cool1:

Anyone know? Is the Contemporary all cleaned up now?

Hi all

Well late August for vacations usually works better for us, as our kids are in camp most of the summer. We really have not given any thought as to when or how long we want to go for.

I think we will have a much better idea after we actually do our first Disney trip. :hyper: Then we will be ready to plan again, and see if we can add a LL meet! :Pinkbounc

nrsldy - Hey I work in a hospital too :D I am obsessed with Disney :earseek: but lucky for me DW is as obsessed (if not more so) as I am
Of course our own kids (DD-13; DD-11; DS-10) think we are nuts. We are hoping to win them over next week ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

nrslady like GoofyJoofy, I am lucky to have a spouse who is a bigger WDW addict than I am. He's the one who got me started. He is reluctant, however, to tell his clients/cowrokers that we're doing Disney again, so he just says "Florida." I, on the other hand, state it nonchalantly and get nothing but positive responses, i.e., "Gosh I wish I could go as often as you guys!"

I think we're really just extending our own families through the net and subsequent meetings. Families are smaller now- I've never had a cousin, and my net friends (I have a few different groups of them) are like an extension of my family. I guess I'm going down to Disney to see my cousins! ...(There is a very deep thought in there somewhere - if someone can find it let me know!)
Debbie I think I know exactly what you mean! My cousins and my brother were all a generation or more older, so my Disney friends, both on the net & at WDW, have become an extended family. DH and I have also found that the common bond we share with our net friends, especially the folks on this thread, goes beyond the fondness for Disney vacations and extends to similar values, priorities and philosophies of life. This thread in particular has given me the opportunity to do the sort of girly/sisterly bonding that I missed out on until college. Now who says that the internet isolates and insulates?!

nrsldy-looks like you've found your home here in the lounge! To answer you questions-yes, yes, YES, no(they are not polite when I start talking about Disney again....), barely, YES(and DIS too), YES....I'm 43, work as a financial analyst for a non profit (Disney is my escape from reality), have been married 20 years this Sept and have 3 children 5, 3, 1. My DH went to Disney with me in 1993 for 3 days and thought he'd seen it all. I went 6 times without him and threatened to take our 3 children without him before he agreeed to go last Jan-he's a stay at home dad and didn't think I could handle the kids with the help of a friend. He admits he LOVED AK which he hadn't seen but he still doesn't get why we have to go back to Disney in October when we were already there in Jan. He agrees to go because he knows I'll take the kids and go without him. I'm really hoping he'll relax more on this trip and have a good time watching his children have a good time. I know I'm crazy but I still think I can convert him if I plan the "perfect" trip. But even if he doesn't have a good time that won't stop the kids and I from having a blast and certainly won't keep me home! And BTW he's lousy with birthday gifts too. My birthday is May 6th so he thinks he can just combine it with Mother's Day. Last year he told my DD it was my birthday in the morning and then did NOTHING-no card, no gift and then a few days went out of state to bring his mother to a funeral. He got home on Mother's Day and said he figured he'd just combine the two. I asked him why he didn't tell me before he left and he said he didn't think I'd want to hear it. ARG....This year I took the day off from work and we all went to the zoo. I did get cards by the zoo was my gift. So I'm trying to figure out how next year's gift can be the Lizard meet.

I think I'd give that tatoo a 2nd thought-how about a leather Mickey jacket or watch or charm bracelet? Or one of those great limited edition pocket books-someone help me out here-what's that designer's name?

BT-how many beds in that suite? I've got 3 friends I could ask to join me-1 is the friend who goes with my family (she'll have AP and flight voucher) who wouldn't care about bed sharing, the 2nd is a true Disney fanatic who would NEVER share a bed and might not like the heat, the 3rd isn't a real fan but LOVES luxury and would prefer her own bed...I am also not ready to commit so maybe we should just stick to our room and crash the party at the suite....

Donna-loved your trip reports and your CM cards!

Dear Fellow Lounge Lizards-I'm grabbing a snack from the lounge, then off to the Laser Center, I'm sure I'll come back with some Fabulous Glasses-maybe I should wear my best shoes to match. I'll be in withdrawal when I get home-I won't be able to look at my Laptop to see what's going on! AAAHHHHH. Maybe my DH will read it to me to keep me updated-can you hear me laughing all the way from New Jersey?
By the way,SteveandDonna-loved your trip report!:cool2: :cool2:

Steveanddonna: Love the note cards.

I am considering the May LL meet. Sounds like a great time to be had. When do I have to let you know?

Only 8 more days..............................:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Tammy, you must join us! I'd love to meet you in real life. ::yes::

Just wanted to emphasize, I really can't take credit for the CM Appreciation notes. You can download the Word file from the Tagrel website. There are several variations. I just added a heavy paper backing and the Walt Disney quote on the backside. We just love the response of the cast members when they receive one - it makes us feel like we can do magic, too!

samnbilly glad you liked the trip report. Thanks!

Has anyone heard from WoodysRU? I have been very worried about her. Left a message yesterday, but haven't heard back.

steveanddonna, I haven't heard from WoodysRU either. I sent her a PM a couple of weeks ago, and I still have not heard back. I hope she is OK. :(

THANKS EVERYONE FOR BEING SO WELCOMING!!!!

The first week of Dec will be our 4th trip to WDW. We have stayed at SOG and the CR in the past. I feel since I have found the DIS Boards I have not really seen WDW yet. DOn't laugh but 6 months ago I found out what a hidden mickey was. WERE HAVE I BEEN!!!! These boards are full of it.
When you all meet at WDW who all comes with you, DH, DC,the dog or do you leave your troubles at home?
My DH doesn't know it yet but I am planing to take ZACMan (DGS)
to see the Bucs in training camp next summer if they are going to be there again.
My DH gets his 2 weeks a year with the Air Force Reserves so I am Thinking I need my 2 wks after his last deployment.
::yes:: :wave:
