have you been at Spring Break? (Week before Easter?)

Here is what I learned about the dining plan:

I booked a room only thinking I would add dining later. In the meantime, I purchased my 7 day MYW tickets through Disney so I will be all ready to go when my FP+ window arrives. I toyed around with adding dining - but I can't do that now because it has to be part of a "package". I can't do a package now because I already have our tickets. Some folks in my situation get 1 day non-expiring tickets so that they can make a package and then just save those 1 day tickets for a later trip....that is too complicated for me! :)

You will NOT get free dining for the week before Easter - so it might be a no brainer to just go with the room only (much better cancelation policy too!!)

We will also be there the week before Easter & I am scared too!! We like going to WDW in January, but since my kids have reached high school age we won't pull them out of school (had no problem pulling out of school when they were younger). Anyway, that leaves us with Christmas (don't want to be away from home), Summer (hot & crowded - put me on a beach in summer!), or Easter (just crowded). So, we will be giving Easter a try. I feel encouraged by the fact that many many areas have their Spring Break in March - so maybe it will be just normal crowded & not lock the front gate crowded! Also, I have had no problems making ADRs - I have been switching them around all week - and except for the harder to get ADRs, I have had no problems (have not been able to get California Grill or Ohanas during Wishes, for example). I even just booked a tour for April 16th.

Good luck making your decision!

Hi OP from another NC family!

This year, the whole spring break/Easter/crowd stuff is a bit different because Easter is later this year. We are going during our spring break - the first week of April. This is not only after college spring break, but after spring break for most of central Florida and Miami (and other Florida locales, I'm sure). If you look at most of the crowd calendars, the crowds go down a bit the first two weeks of April, only to go crazy again at Easter.

Don't get me wrong, it's not going to be low crowd, just not insane unless everyone is very, very wrong.

We prefer low crowd times, but this is what's working for us this year.

We also received a PIN code that covered the first week of April. It was for selected dates, and I took it as a good sign that our week was included. :)

Another question...

The only pins I have ever used were for free dining. With that pin, as long as you checked in on the last date of the offer, it covered your whole stay.

I am guessing that is not the case with room discounts?

I have that double pin that just went out, but we would be checking in on the last day of the offer.

As far as dining, I am thinking of not buying the plan (first trip ever without it) and just getting a gift card to use for dining. We only really do quick service anyway, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

Room offers are date specific. The last date of the offer is the last date that the discount will be applied. You can book a longer stay, but you would only get the discount on the dates within the offer window.

Thanks... probably better to go with the "Spring Vacation offer" that it is popping up as (I think the 5th day ticket is free or something?)

We went last Easter week. We go every year and sometimes twice a year. This was the first year our spring break coincided with Easter week. NEVER again would we put ourselves through that. We have a great touring style and did get on everything we wanted with minimal wait but it was seriously pure exhaustion. The parks open an hour early every day and that hour makes a huge difference in your energy level. Wall to wall people and we saw 210 minute waits multiple times during the trip.

However, I am wondering if it might not be so bad this year as Easter is late and maybe many schools decided to have their break earlier. Also, it was freezing last year (50 degrees) and we found that many people that planned a beach week came to Disney because the beach was too cold.

Good luck with the decision!

Is it busy, yes, but don't let that scare you. We have gone many years at spring break and always have had fun. If you get to the park early especially with emh, and leave mid afternoon you will be fine. Parks always got crazy around 2-3p.m. We would leave, go swim, and then come back later. We are going again this year.
