Hi all!

I know a lot of you have honeymooned at a Disney resort and it's been suggested that I mention I will be spending my honeymoon when I make my reservation. So I was just wondering, what happens (if anything) when they are informed that it's your honeymoon? Is it even worth mentioning when I make my reservation? And I guess I should cover myself and add a disclaimer before this post gets misconstrued...I'm not looking for a discount, upgrade, or a handout from Disney--I'm just curious about what they MAY do for honeymooners :) Thanks for any info!!

We got married at Disney and honeymooned at CSR. One day while we were at the pool, mousekeeping took our bride & groom ears and put them on the bed and formed towels into heart shapes around them. Another day our stuffed animals were watching tv with the remote in their hands. That was really the only special treatment we got on our whole honeymoon. We went not expecting anything, so we weren't disappointed.

I'd say it's definitely worth mentioning on our ressie, who knows when magic will happen?

Lori

Thanks for the info Lori! I love the wedding picture in your signature--you two look great!

My travel agent informed the Polynesian that we were on our honeymoon back in June of 1982. Greeting us was a split of champagne in a bucket of ice and a beautiful pink rose bud in a vase with a lovely card from the manager of the hotel. It made us feel so very special, as all honeymooners are!!

My friend honeymooned in 1995 and received a cute card with a bride and groom Mickey and Minnie on it. I don't know about you, but these type of things end up in my photo album, preserved forever. It means alot to me and I think that the hotel would not be put out to honor you that way.
All the best, Wilma:smooth:

We split out July 1995 honeymoon between the GF and CBR. At the GF, we returned from our first day at the parks and there was a beautiful bud vase with a peach colored rose (that matched the decor of the rooms at the time) and a bottle of champagne. At the CBR, we has a pcture of Mickey and Minnie that said congrats on our wedding. It was very cute.

We vaction there at WDW every year, but I hope to go back to the GF or possibly the poly for our 10th. Better start saving now.;)

Stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for our honeymoon. They did nothing special for us.

Gumdrop, first of all make sure that it's on your reservation. DW and I did our hm at POR, waiting in our room was a bottle of champange, two glasses to keep and a box of chocolates. Then every ps i made, i had HM on it. I cant count how many drinks, deserts, and specials we got. (almost every meal). Then we wore the bride and groom hats (can't count how many times we were brought to the front of the line). Now this might not be typical of other posters, but it is all true. Don't be shy. Tell everybody you are on your HM. You never know what will happen at WDW.

Have a great trip, and congrats.

We stayed at WL last year for our first wedding anniversary and noted it on our special requests when we booked along with King bed and hgh floor room. Upon arrival we were upgraded from a basic view to Courtyard with King bed on the 4th floor. Then we had a half bottle of Chamnpagne delivered plus a card from mousekeeping and then a second delivery of cookies and pretzels plus card from front desk. We were really impressed by this. Also on about the second day we had some little towel animals waiting for us when we returned later in the day.

We stayed at the wilderness lodge and recieved nothing special. We checked in wearing just married hats and the guy didn't even say congratulations. I had read about all the nice things done for other ppl so it was a bit of a let down. My advise, don't ask, don't read about all the other things that have been done so you can enjoy what does or doesn't happen to you without an expectations.

On the other hand nice things that did happen -
The airline announced congratulations over the pa when we arrived in orlando. :)
Free desert at Roaring Fork and a fireside table.
A window seat for dinner/fireworks at cindys castle.
A champange toast at the rose and crown.

I had a really good time on my honeymoon, but only expect what you pay for. To be fair I wasn't constantly screaming, 'i'm on my honeymoon', because my husband was uncomfortable with that. He wouldn't wear the bride/groom ears so the ballcaps were a compromise (they are available at davids bridal).

bumping, in the hopes i didn't kill your thread :(. Sorry if i did.

The thing about Pixie Dust is, you should never look for it. The definition of it, really, is an unexpected thing that gives you a big smile. I think that one really bad thing about boards like this one is that sometimes we read what pixie dust people get, and we want some too, and it just doesn't work like that - I think that if I read something and get my hopes up, I'm setting myself up for disapointment - it is the unexpected things that are really so special.

That's why I'm leery about writing about the pixie dust sorts of things that we've had, because I don't want to set somebody up for disapointment. I don't think there is any rhyme or reason to it; if you catch something lucky or a cast member on a great day, magical little things happen. Also, honestly, I think if it seems like you are schmoozing or looking for something, it might turn someone off.

So I'll post a couple of experiences, but please know that it isn't in the spirit of getting hopes up, but in the spirit that I think is the really good sort of thing about these kind of boards, which is sharing our experiences about a common love (in this case, wdw).

We had our wedding at wdw, and before the wedding we were staying at port orleans (now the french quarter). A lot of our guests were staying there, too - when you have a wedding, you can pick a resort or two for your guests, and they get a nice rate and so on. We didn't say anything about it when we checked in, but the cm checking us in said something like "oh, something has arrived for you," and went back and got this Mickey shaped basket with candles, candy, candle holders, soaps, all sorts of stuff. It was a big deal of a basket. At first we thought it was part of the wedding, that the wedding people had done it. But it was really Port Orleans that had done it. That was really great of them, and it was super pixie dust for us. Everybody at port orleans was so amazing that trip for us and all of our guests. It was really incredible.

After the wedding, we were staying first a boardwalk villas for a few nights, then moving to one of the honey moon rooms at wilderness lodge for a few nights. So, yeah, we did three resorts in one trip, but it was a long trip (with a wedding first, then goodbye to our guests and a honeymoon, if that makes sense). BWV didn't do anything, but we had a great stay there and loved it. At the WL, they had a bottle of champagne and a large fruit basket in the honey moon room. For us, wl always has a lot of pixie dust floating around. Now we own points at wlv, and we go there every year for our anniversary and eat at Artist Point for our anniversary dinner; we always try to get the same servers for our own fun, and they always seem to come up with some of that dust (champagne, desert), but I think that is because we have made it sort of a regular thing. If they don't have any left for us this May we won't be disappointed, though. Sometimes things are just too busy for the cms or whatever. I think if you expect something, it doesn't deliver; your expectations will let you down no matter what happens. It is much better just to have your eyes open wide and a big smile and have fun with everything that comes your way. There is a lot of magic at wdw, and really there is enough for everyone, you just have to take it when you find it.

Know someone who was upgraded FREE to the "grandest" suite (either the Walt Disney or Roy Disney suite) at the Grand Floridian. However, they had a relative that pulled some strings for them(but as a suprise and sort of wedding gift), but how cool huh? I think they are now saving up to stay in it again for one of their anniversaries.:)

A wonderful story.
We will not be looking for any pixie dust but it would really make my day if a little were to come our way.
I like the outlook that you have, not to expect anything just take things as they come.

I am a little in shock to read these posts, some of you got some things, some of you got nothing, and some of you got things that I thought were normal. I think it boils down to us just being spoiled rotten by disney!
On our Honeymoon we stayed at the Yatch club, in the Commodore suite for 25 days and one night at CBR. We stayed a total of 26 days and every single night when we came back to our room we had something new from the resort. Boxes of Chocolates, Flowers, stuffed animals, signed pictures of the characters, engraved whine glasses, fruit baskets, more then once we were given very nice bottles of wine. This was just the resort!!! At Cindy's we were given engraved wine glasses. At WCC they gave us a bottle of Champagne. The Manager at California Grill picked up our bill...

**I am learning that this is not the norm. and it may sounds exagerated but I assure you it is all true. my wife is here helping me list everything we remember.

We Purchased two Paintings and a Glass sculpure at the art of Disney and the manager there paid for us to go to V & A (we had been already and my wife didn't know if she wanted to go again but he insisted, granted this was not because we were on our honeymoon but still...)

That is pretty much all we remember, except for one thing which was the best of all... the staff at the resort remembered us and every chance they got said hello... Congratulations, etc. Even when we have returned to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries we have received this type of treatment (not to this extent). I don't know maybe we were the only ones that happened to be staying on property celebrating our Honeymoon I don't know... But I would suggest mentioning that it was your honeymoon every chance you get who knows that might help. We just told them when booking our stay then we were called by the hotel manager to confirm it about 1 week before. He wished us well, in advance, on our wedding day and gave us the # to the concierge desk if we needed anything. I hope that your Honeymoon there will be magical and memorable!!! Congratulations!

I'm sorry DR just read me this thread and I had to respond.

Phanomouse - are you serious??????????????

You honestly don't know why you received such an abundance of special treats????????

I can only think that you are being facisious or you are so freaking rich you really didn't notice it being out of the ordinary (and I don't mean that as an insult).

You stayed practically a month on WDW property in what is considered the Luxury suite of the hotel - dropped probably another fortune at the Gallery and aren't sure why Disney left you little something extras???

I'm sorry - I don't mean to sound so astonished, but I can't help it! Don't get me wrong I think its fabulous and by all means if I was spending that kind of cash at WDW I'd expect a more than a little shmoozing, but given how rare this type of situation is - OF COURSE it was out of the norm!!!

Again I'm glad you had such wonderful honeymoon and I'm really not trying to be rude - but what kind of world do you live in - can I live there?!!!!

Melissa

I have to agree with Melissa, not sure Phanomouse who paid your bill, but surely you realize that even at the Value season your suite would have been $35,000 for that 25 night stay and that is just for your room.

I would definitely say that would get some major Pixie Dust.

Just curious was the honeymoon a gift and you really have no idea what kind of money was involved.

I had my wedding/honeymoon in WDW and I didn't receive anything. Then again, I didn't expect anything. This was long before I began reading threads about this sort of thing. In hindsight, especially knowing how much $$ we spent having our wedding there, it would have been nice to receive at least a card in our room or something. Then again, Disney hosts well over 3,000 weddings a year and WDW is THE most popular honeymoon destination. I guess they can't possibly do something special for everyone.

:)

Just curious--was the Commodore suite an upgrade or did you actually pay for this? If it was an upgrade, now THAT is a great honeymoon gift! :) :) :)

I bet the one night at the CBR was a shocker after staying in a suite for 25 days. ;)

LOL, Misti, I was thinking the same thing about the CBR one night stay.

If it was an upgrade, I think that rates as the best upgrade story every posted. :)
